Darn you, Sel! You've given me that terrible urge to pick up and leave for Japan which I've been supressing for three years. xd But I don't mind! It's a happy feeling! 4laugh
I still can't get it through my head that your Japanese family gave you a 25-generation-old sword! It's simply amazing! I wanna touch it! I've got plenty of katanas, nine to be exact plus a Japanese broadsword, but they were all crafted in Canada, so there's no where near the amount of sentimental value in them as that 25-generation-old katana must have. But I'll get my parents to give me their camera for a while and I'll take some pictures for the guild!
And those fans are gorgeous! The dolls too! I think one of my favorite things about Japanese culture, or Asian culture in general, is that it's so rich and vibrant and colourful! I luvz my little porcelain geisha! heart I also have a couple of fans - they were gifts - but I'm guessing they were really cheap because they're made of flimsy strips of wood, not plastic. Once I opened them, they had to stay open. One of my friends, on one occasion, grabbed one off my wall and went, "Let's see..." And slapped the thing against her hand as if she expected it to fold! gonk It bent horribly, and it sags a little on the edges now, but I managed to get it back into its regular shape again. I haven't let anyone touch my fans since.
Gackt's coat rocks! That's another thing about Japan! They have such a**-kickin' fashion!

I've given it to myself too. ^^;
I couldn't believe it either! But we've sort of become family as well, so that helps. In a way it's still in the family. It's extremely flattering.
The great thing about these fans is that they're about $10 each, but still amazing quality. Wood and fabric. I've seen some very impressive ones for about $50, that I'd love. I just can't make myself spend that much, not when I'm spending my parents' money anyway.
And how! I came back here and was like: "Damn, everyone looks so... frumpy."

xd I can't wait to see the clothes there! It's likely that I'll budget a significant portion of my souvenir money for clothes! xd

It's so awesome! I wish I were a smaller person just for that reason. xd
If you'd like an idea of what some of the clothes are like, one of my favourite online stores is Fotus (http://fotus.com)

You know what - I actually have no idea how it's pronounced! Does anyone else here know? If I had to guess, I'd say it probably sounds like:
Gaa-ckt (aa sound, like in "cat" and "hat")
or
Gah-ckt (ah sound like in "ah", "blah", or "nah")
However, Japanese people would pronounce his name like this:
Gah - ku-toh ("ah" like in "blah", "u" like in "cool", and "oh" like "show")
The reason they would pronounce his name that way is because in Japanese, there are no syllables that end in a consonant other than the letter "n." All other syllables are made of a consonant letter and a vowel or only a vowel Here are some examples:
a i u e o ka ki ku ke ko sa shi su se so ta chi tsu te to na ni nu ne no ha hi fu he ho ma mi mu me mo ya yu yo ra ri ru re ro wa
etc.

Hmm... I think instead of "gah-ku-toh" it would be more like "gah-ku-tu". I'm not saying that I'm right, but I have often noticed that many English words are pronounced by Japanese people so that they end in a '-u' combination, because in many cases the 'u' is nearly silent. For example, my Japanese teacher told me that a Japanese person might say my name 'Janinu'.

It's "Gah-ku-toh" 3nodding The "u" is said so quickly though that it usually just sounds like "Gahk-toh".
The English pronounciation is usually just how it looks. ^^
Like Aki says though, normally when a name ends with an "n" like "Janine" it becomes "Janinu" but that "u" is said quickly so it's almost not even heard. It's almost like... I don't really know how to explain it. Almost like an exhalation on the sound, if that makes any sense.
This doesn't work with Gackt though, because like Flight illustrated, the Ta line doesn't have a "Tu" but rather a "Tsu" (somewhat like "soo"). Because of this ,the "T" at the end of Gackt becomes "To".
....
I really hope that makes sense. sweatdrop

Me too. ^^ Definitely my favourite so far. And it sounds great in song. Some languages just don't work well in song, like French. I find it to be awkward.
I have a passion for languages, and if I could, would just learn as many as I could. German is definitely next on the list though.
