Nineteen to the Dozen

My random musings. I don't write here regularly, so I beg of you not to expect to see a new entry every week, or even every month.

It is the [i:9ac0920f60]fragile blossom[/i:9ac0920f60] that opens in the snow.

Feel free to add me to your AIM, Gtalk, or MSN if you want to chat a little more fluidly than through PMs. I prefer it actually. I'm almost always at my computer, but not always on Gaia... Also, I'm working on getting Skype! YAY video chat!

About Me!

Brief tidbits. I'm 21 years old; four years to being a quarter century oh gawd! XD I graduated from High School in 2005, and recently graduated from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) with my diploma in Architectural Technologies. That's right. I am certified to design homes. *buffs nails* I have a little brother (his username is Reed Matthews; go bug him ^.^), and live on an acreage just outside of a teeny tiny town in the middle of nowhere, a hick town in a line of hick towns, you might say. Pet peeves include, ugh, little children, lying, arrogance, closed-mindedness, inequality, bad grammar/spelling and disrespecting nature. Pet pleases include, YAY, art in all of its forms, history, naturey-type things, cars, and all things Oriental.

The punk. Bill Kaulitz is honestly my fashion hero. My favourite colours are black and red, and you will often see me sporting at least five pounds of stainless steel on my body at any given time, between my ten ear piercings, my chains, rings, and studded wrist cuffs. Hightops are the most amazing shoes in the world, by the way, even though they take a half-hour to tie up. I have the Japanese kanji for “strong of heart” tattooed over my breast bone, and an uber schmexy skull and crossbones on the inside of my left him. I particularly enjoy rock music; Linkin Park, Hinder, Nickleback, and Tokio Hotel are some of my favourite bands.

The lady. As much as I love my rock music and my wild hair, I also love sophisticated culture. Classical music is another favorite of mine - I particularly like Beethoven - and I simply adore opera. Sparkly things are a big yes in my books, but only if said sparkly things don't blind me or strike me as severely gaudy, in which case I make unhappy faces at them. For example, a ring with a gemstone larger than a dime? Expect an unhappy face. Take a lesson from the ancient Greeks; it's all about proportion. *wink* I love a good glass of wine (call me a wine-o) or a cooler or a brandy with Pepsi. I'm definitely not the biggest drinker in the world, and I'm okay with that. I like not waking up sick.

The tomboy. I've always been a bit of a tomboy, which might explain why so many people online think that I'm a guy upon first impression. >.> Most girly things bug the crap out of me, like purses and Barbies. I was the little girl who took her Barbie Jeep out and had a demolition derby with it. Thar be no goin' shoe-shoppin' today, Barbie. Granted, I have grown up a little since those days of baggy t-shirts and boys' jeans. I don't dress like a boy anymore, but I still have that same personality on the inside. For example: cars. Cars are perhaps the pinnacle of all mankind's wonderful (and some not so wonderful) creations. Growing up with an auto/heavy machinery mechanic for a father, I've always loved things with loud, growly engines, especially if they can go fast. Video games are love. My favorites include "The Legend of Zelda" series, "The Prince of Persia" series, the "Resident Evil" series, "Assassin's Creed", "Oblivion", and the "Need for Speed" series. I could probably add more, but I'm lazy right now.

The artist. I fancy myself an artist, as my life virtually revolves around art. I dabble in all kinds of art, including drawing (to see my art, visit my DeviantArt gallery or check below for my newest pieces in all my favorite styles), literature, formal dance, music, and architecture and design (interior and exterior). I spent 14 years in a dance academy, learning tap, jazz and ballet, and am currently pursuing a semi-professional career in bellydancing and in polefitness. I also play piano and guitar (I found I'm not quite so good with the latter as I am with the former because I have such small hands that it's hard for me to make some of the more complicated chords); I'm hoping to get my hands on a violin in the near future... And maybe a pottery wheel... I've taken up spinning poi also; I'm still a beginner, but I love it! Thanks so much to mah Tessa for introducing me to it! As seems to go hand-in-hand with artistic talent, I'm a bit of a recluse. I like to be alone, in a quiet, solitary environment.

The pagan. If I had to put a religious label on myself, I'd say I'm Neo-paganistic (call it atheism if you like). I thrive on the belief that every living thing is special and deserves life and respect, and I take great pleasure in nature. Sure, my thumb isn't very green, but I still enjoy planting flowers and watching them grow. Bamboo is one plant that is one hundred percent suited to me; it's soooo easy to take care of. In fact, I have a pot of bamboo stalks that are just about five or six years old now. Yes, they are alive, even after being massacred by my cat...

Recap. So, after everything I've shared, you've probably noticed that a lot of my interests contradict each other. As such, I need to make sure that I'm perfectly balanced to get the most out of my hobbies. Over the years, people have called me a very well-rounded individual; it pays to know a little about a lot. And P.S. For all of you who are reading this and thinking, "Damn! This guy is TALENTED!" Well, I have news for you! I'm female. My avatar is a guy, but that doesn't make me one. Just letting y'all know before I have to do ANOTHER awkward explanation.
