READ ME FIRST!!

This is a compiled list of all bugs and glitches, great and small, that have been found around Gaia by users like you! If you are familiar with Jakobo's Gaia Problems sticky, I'll be using a similar issue key as his, just to make it consistant and easier on everybody. Also like Jakobo and Dri, I will also post updates at the end of the thread. 3nodding

If you find any bugs or glitches that are not reported, or you would like to add more information to an existing bug or glitch, please post here to describe it, in great detail (Any links or pictures is greatly appreciated). Also, please post here if you find that the admins have already fixed some of the glitches (and have already announced it), but I haven't got around to updating the changes yet.

Anything listed under the "Major" setting are usually critical problems that are most likely being worked on immediately by the admins. These problems can totally effect your online experience on Gaia. Anything listed under the "Minor" setting are issues that are still annoying and bothersome, but are not threatening to Gaia as a whole, and may be worked on at a later time.

PMing an Online Mod

GOLD PROBLEMS!
Right now there seems to be some bugs in the gold earning system. Users' gold counts are getting screwy, with some losing or earning gold at an extremely abnormal rate. Please don't fret! Your account is NOT being hacked into or anything like that! There just seems to be some bugs that the admins will have to look into.

Unable to Login
Many users, especially those with underscores in their names, are having trouble logging in at the moment.
Workaround: Users should be able to get around this difficulty by using their user ID instead of their avatar name to log in.

How to get your user ID#
  • Look at one of your own posts. Any post. Or look up your name in the memberlist.
  • Click the profile button under your post/next to your name.
  • You'll be taken to the page everyone else sees when they look at your profile, and the URL up above will look something like this: http://www.gaiaonline.com/profile/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=563097
  • The number at the end (I highlighted mine in red) is your user ID#. ^^
  • The same process can, of course, be used to find anyone else's user ID# by clicking on their profile button

Random Logouts

I was clicking around the site, and certain pages are trying to redirect me to test.gaiaonline.com

I was clicking mainly from http://www.gaiaonline.com/advertise/index.php, but I think one or two other pages did it as well.

LAG!!!
It looks like lag has reared its ugly head on Gaia again! Make sure to give every page on Gaia lots of time to load. And don't refresh so many times! It will only make the problem worse.

No Gold for Referrals!
In the "Grow Gaia" section (you can access by clicking the text link at the very bottom of this page), it mentions that you get 50 gold plus "a chance to win special items!" In actuality, you get a (little) better chance of getting a rare that day, and no gold. Unfortunately, the admins haven't got around to change that yet. sweatdrop

Getting More Gold Than Normal

Okay, it was recently confirmed, that supposedly you are only supposed to receieve 10 gold max per post, anyone else that has been getting more than that, is asked to please post about it, as this is a matter that is going to need to be fixed, and I would believe the staff would like to know all those who are having the problems.

Thread Subscription Problems

They still exist, for some its worse than others, here is a little record of problems right now:
  • Members are logged out when trying to add/delete subscribed threads to their lists
  • Some members are having threads disappear from their lists
  • Some members are supposedly unable to add any to their list at all although they stay logged in
  • New members are unable to subscribe to threads period
  • Some users are unable to unsubscribe to threads from the Subscribed Threads page

Disappearing Sig in Edited Posts
When users edit their posts, their signatures end up disappearing from underneath the posts! Not sure why this is happening exactly, and there is no current fix for this.

"MyShop" buttons doesn't appear
The MyShop button, used to access people's shops in the Marketplace, seems to have disappeared from everyone's user taskbar (underneath their posts), even when the users have shops!

In the Main Forum page, the Anime/Manga/Comics is missing an "/" between the words Anime and Manga.

"Close Tags" Problems
When users attempt to use the "Close Tags" text link (or even hover their mouse over the link) when creating or replying to topics, they receive some sort of Javascript error. More information:

Tags in BBCode, like HTML, always come in pairs. The "close tags" link is supposed to add "closing tags" (the ones with the / in them) to any posts in case a person has forgotten to do this.

I suspect it's a phpBB (Forum software) problem rather than a Gaia problem as I use this software for my site's forum... unless Lanzer or another Admin acidentally overwrote the code for it.... *shrugs*

GUILD PROBLEMS
Problems related to the Gaia Guild Network, or GGN.

Cannot Create New Guild!
Users who try to create a new guild are unable to, even though they have enough gold. When clicking on the "Create Guild" button the page only refreshes.

Avatar Problems in Guilds
It seems that when posting in guilds, users' avatars and/or signatures are not updated, or don't show up at all. There's most likely problems with the guild server, which will be addressed eventually. sweatdrop

Am I the only one who experiences the problem of sometimes being redirected to "http://www.gaiaonline.comlogin.php" (which, of course, fails to load) instead of "http://www.gaiaonline.com/login.php" when I try to load a page in the GGN while logged out?

INVENTORY/ITEM/EVENT PROBLEMS
Problems related to your inventory/profile, and the items and rare events that you have in your inventory.

Cannot Open Rare Events
Users are currently unable to open enchanted trunks and blue and pink boxes that they receive from rare events. When attempting to do so, an error message appears, along the lines of "item cannot be opened." The function seems to work on and off, so it's been suggested to wait an hour or so and try opening your rare event later.

Changing Username Problems
Dri
Changing your username will make it appear changed in some places, not changed in others (such as the forum saying it's by the new name, but under your avatar it will say the old one). If you have changed your username and you want to PM people, you will have to tell them what to change the username to in the field (tell them the new one) as they will see the old one and you won't be able to get any replies.

UPDATE: A few workarounds have been found. Please go to this thread by Arethic for more information!

FriendList Problems
UPDATE: Many of the major problems have been fixed, but there are still a few that exist...
There are currently some serious problems with the FriendList and the profiles. It's been advised to avoid using both for now. For more information, go to this Q&F sticky!

Assorted Journal Errors

Mistyped Link from Anniversary Ball Souvenir

I was going through my inventory.

Remember those letters from Gambino after the Anniversary ball stuff?
I went and looked at my post I recieved, then I went to click on 'okay' to go back to my inventory.

Just thought people should know that gaia has an improper link.

Basically, if users click on their anniversary Gambino picture to view, then press "Ok," they will be redirected to an error link.

Mysterious Birthday switching!
In your profile, when you type in what your birthday is, some users are experiencing a problem in which the birthday is incremented or decremented by one day upon saving. It seems to only occur when inputting either 31 December 1988 or 31 December 1984.

No Clothes == No Deleting Avatar
When you have nothing in your inventory, you are unable to delete your avatar.

Engraved Jewelry Shows no Engraving
Users are unable to view engravings on their jewelry in their inventory. However, a temporary workaround is to change URLS. Specifically, you can view the engraving via the "all" tab in your inventory:
When viewing items that have been engraved, the message does not show under the main page of your inventory page. However, you can read the engravings by switching to the All tab:

Problems Deleting Avatar
Users are currently unable to delete and recreate their avatars. Any attempts will only result in a gray shadow where your avatar used to be. A workaround has been found, which you can access throughthis link.

EXCHANGE PROBLEMS
Problems related to the areas that Gaians use to buy/sell/trade items. These areas include the Marketplace (vending), Bank (trades), and Stores (buying).

Cannot Get Expired Marketplace Items
UPDATE: Another workaround has been found!
Currently users are unable to easily claim back their items whose auctions in the Marketplace have since been expired. A workaround has been found:

Workaround to regaining expired "buy now" items in Marketplace:

a. Go to your store and make sure the item has expired and no one has bought the item.
b. Cancel the sale for the item that has expired.
c. Check profile to make sure you got the item back!

I just did this for some fish I'd caught (and no one wanted to buy), so I know it works!

Not sure what to do for expired "bid/buy" or "bid only" auctions, though....

For the marketplace expired trades glitch, I've found it's helpful if you go to the sale and hit the "accept bid" button once the time is up, if you've set it to bid only or bid and buy. That way the sale closes immediately, and gets it off the marketplace page. Hope this helps!

Cannot Click on Store Items

Bank Problems

MARKETPLACE 2.0 PROBLEMS!
UPDATE: Currently the Marketplace is having a hard time deleting entries of expired auctions in the list, and users are having some trouble retrieving/receiving the items in those auctions. The admins are aware of the problem and are working on it!
The newest version of the Marketplace has been released! If you come across any problems, you are advised to pm MsTransaction, a dummy account created by the admins specifically for that purpose.

Cannot Purchase Ice Gloves

this is the link for buying the blue pair, the first 5 that comes up (highlighted) you must change to 6 or 7 to change the colors (or leave as 5 for blue)

Users are currently unable to purchase any of the ice gloves set, located in Moira's store in Durem. When clicking on the item, the buy/preview/cancel window does not come up at all, even in multiple tries.

Error in Marketplace Store Pricing

It [#000000 Complex Jacket] has a store price of 9131g or something similar, but you cant buy it in stores, its a trunk item... This mistake caused me to buy one for just under 6k thinking it was a bargain, when infact thats pretty much top end for them... needless to say i'm finding it hard selling it on...
somebody PLEASE sort it out before another person gets duped into buying one and losing well earned gold...

Cannot Report Dead Links
When clicking on the "dead link" text link next to the the site link in question, you get an error message that reads:

Cannot Vote Art Submissions
Users are unable to vote for recent Art Arena submissions after the very first entry shown on the main page. When clicking on "Next" the page is refreshed.
