Welcome to the FF Fact Thread

Okay, after much delibration (about 2 hours worth) and a reply in a recent topic from the user [Shiva], I've decided to give this a shot again.

For those who don't know what the hell is goin' on here, this is is the Final Fantasy Fact Thread. Where you should look BEFORE you even dare post a new topic about how to revive Aeris in FF7, making claims that Kuja is female, or asking the tired question of whether KH is a Final Fantasy or not. This thread isn't used to make fun of those who did post these topics; tis merely a tool to educate those as to not have this forum cluttered with redundant topics. Hopefully, this will be kept around longer this time. Along with posting the debuncations of countless Final Fantasy rumors, I'm going to also have a quick list of go to links that people should really check out.

Anyone is welcome to submit their links or information dealing with any FF Rumors, and I'll make sure to update it accordingly. :3 Besides that, this thread can be used for idle chatting. Those members who are caught spamming, flaming, or trolling will be reported to a Dedicated Mod.

If you like this thread and its purpose, I made a silly little banner for you to put in your sig, or whatnot:

This section will hold common Final Fantasy rumors and the proof that each of these are false as Regis Philbin's teeth. This section will save you from being ridiculed by some very snarky people that reside here. 3nodding And you don't want that, now, do ya? Also, some of these rumors contain spoilers. I'm telling you this beforehand so you won't complain to me that the information that you read here spoiled FFVIII for you. Each rumor is marked by the title of the game, so you'll know which to read and which one pertains to the game you're currently playing.

Final Fantasy VII - Reviving Aeris
The rumor: There are countless different rumors about reviving Aeris in the game after she dies... and actually affecting the story. *psh*
Thread mentioned: This one.
The debunk: So many thanks to Squall of SeeD for this. Because he effin' pwns:
Squall of SeeD
Consider how much of the storyline would be altered if Aerith did not die:

Aside from all the dialogue that speaks of Aerith in the past tense, there's the fact that if she were to live, going to speak with Bugenhagen during Disk 2 would be rendered unnecessary, going to the City of the Ancients after, as well, as would the search for the White Materia, in which Bugenhagen sends the party off to find the Key of the Ancients in order to activate the Ancient Machine in the City of the Ancients.

It was only after activating that machine that the party learned that the White Materia was glowing a pale green, meaning that Aerith's prayer had went through and the White Materia had already been activated.

It was also the above incident that allowed them to learn that Holy was activated, but wasn't moving because JENOVA/Sephiroth was holding it back.

Finally, the party learns that the Junon Canon had been moved and that Diamond WEAPON was approaching Midgar while still at the City of the Ancients, which immediately preceded the battle with Diamond WEAPON, the apparent death of Rufus Shinra, and the final showdown with the Shinra.

This being the case, a huge aspect of the storyline would be altered were Aerith still alive.

Finally consider that the ending itself would have needed to be altered, as she is not with the main party in the Northern Crater, nor on the Highwind, and only a ghostly image of her appears in the Lifestream during the ending. Also consider that her appearance in the Lifestream during the ending was meant to suggest that she was able to manipulate/convince the Lifestream to take action against Meteor.

Considering how much of the game would have needed to be altered, it's not at all possible for Aerith to be revived while preserving the integrity of the storyline itself.

To those who may argue that GameSharks allow for Aerith to be revived, and there is even a different line that she will say from the generic lines random other characters will say when in her place at that point (the "I'm sick of this" line -- which can be seen farther down -- after the snowboarding crash incident), keep in mind that GameSharks only alter existing memory that is on the discs. It's basically a scrambling of what is already there, not something that can create new aspects of the game, or be a key to the rest of its storyline. It should also be pointed out that the GameSharks don't provide access to any scene involving a revival of Aerith. They simply allow Aerith to be in the party when she shouldn't be, just as Sephiroth can be, as is shown in the pictures below:

That's why one can be at the Northern Crater on Disc 1. The entire game, in terms of environment and battle maps, was placed on the first disc, but the seperate discs were needed due to the FMV sequences taking up so much space. Being that Disc 3 contains both the Ultima WEAPON and the ending FMVs (which are longer than all the rest put together), it should be more than obvious that there's no extra space for FMVs depicting altered-versions of the ending, featuring Aerith in the Northern Crater with the party, or on the Highwind with them. In fact, Aerith being alive and being there would completely screw-up what is in the ending, such as Cloud seeing Aerith's hand in the Lifestream, Cloud stating "An answer from the Planet... the Promised Land...I think I can meet her... there," and then Aerith appearing in the wake of the Lifestream just as Meteor was being destroyed.

Further, being that there wasn't even enough space to take into account in the FMVs that the player might do something as simple as recruit Vincent or Yuffie, it should be very obvious that no such thing would be done with Aerith.

While one might be able to argue that a revival of Aerith was intended -- which in itself is not supported, due to Nomura wishing for Aerith to die so that Tifa would become the main Female character of the game (as can be read on this site) -- being that it wasn't included in the game, it's not part of the storyline canon. I would think that Aerith's continued state of being dead in Advent Children would be evidence enough in regard to this.

And contrary to popular belief, the International Version of FFVII did not include an Aerith revival. The International Version (re-release in Japan, and first European release) is identical to the version that North America received, with the only exceptions being a few novelty items that are available within the game, such as Johnny's Jacket, and a bonus disk that came with the game in which vehicle schematics and concept designs were shown. While North America has been shafted in regard to International Releases ever since, with FFVII it did get it in every capacity that relates to the game but the few novelty items. It was the first and only version released in North America.

As for Aerith's ultimate Limit Break, note that through level-whoring and making use of the Buggy supplied by Dio the player can acquire this before Aerith's death. Further consider that if Aerith were meant to be revived, or were meant to remain alive, that -- with her final Limit Break -- the latter Boss battles of the game would be made ridiculously simple.

Further note that the game's FMV sequences, including the one in which Aerith died and the ending FMV, were all made during 1995. They were the first things that were made aside from the script that the game would follow, made even before environment maps. The game wasn't released in Japan until January 31, 1997. The FMVs were completed for more than a year before the game was released, and the final version of the script was completed even before the FMVs.

Also, while on the subject of the script, when it was being written -- note that this was before the FMVs were even yet made -- Nomura made a phone call to the Director of the game (Yoshinori Kitase) and suggested that Aerith die and that Tifa become the game's heronine in her place, as they had never before had two heroines and then have one die. Mention of this matter can be found both here and here, and Nomura was originally quoted as saying this in a book entitled Final Fantasy VII Kaitai Shinsho.

Essentially, being that an Aerith revival was not included in the game, that the FMVs in which she dies and the ending FMV in which her spirit appears amongst the Lifestream's energy were completed more than a year before the rest of the game, as was the script in which she would die due to Nomura's suggestion that Tifa become the main heroine, and that she is still dead in Advent Children, she died and remained dead in storyline canon, and there's no logical evidence that has ever been presented to suggest otherwise. Aerith was intended to die and remain dead.

Final Fantasy IX - Kuja's Gender Switch Upon Arrival of U.S. Shores
The rumor: Many people claim that Kuja, the villian of FFIX, is actually a female in the Japanese version of the game, and not a male as in the translated versions.
Thread mentioned: N/A
The debunk: In the old thread, the user lcujabie had debunked this by showing Japanese Kuja fanarts who blatanly draw Kuja with masculine facial and torso structures. I'm sure there's other information out there, and if anyone does have stuff, feel free to post here, and you'll get credit.

Final Fantasy VIII - What the Hell is Adel Anyway!?
The rumor: It seems quite a few people think that the Sorceress Adel is one of those types where they can't figure out if it's a male or female.
Thread mentioned: This one!
The debunk: Squall of SeeD gave hard concrete proof that clears this up:
Squall of SeeD
Aside from Adel being a Sorceress (suggestive of a Female), and aside from using Scan on Adel yielding certain infromation suggestive of her being a Female (
Quote:
Esthar's ruler before Laguna and company confined her. Released by Ultimecia, and regaining strength.
(Emphasis added by me)) there is the fact that when Laguna tells the final bit of his story (which can be accessed by saying "I have questions" when he asks "Will you do it?" and then choosing "Why are you here?" wink , he refers to Adel as a Female several times:

Quote:
Laguna and his men bow down as Adel approaches.

Laguna (voice over)
"Adel appeared as we expected."

Adel
"What is going on?"

Laguna
"We hunted down the culprit who moved the Crystal Pillar."

Adel
"Where?"

Laguna
"Inside there. Ellone's been taken hostage."

Adel begins to enter the Sorceress Memorial.

Laguna (voice over)
"I knew she would go in right away if I mentioned Ellone."

Ellone is inside the confinement.

Adel
"You thought I would fall for that trick?"

Laguna (voice over)
"Adel realized that Ellone was a hologram......But...It was too late."

Laguna
"Yeah...Of course."
"My plans are...always..."
"Perfect!!!"

He pushes Adel towards the confinement.

Laguna
"Kiros, Ward! Now!!!"

Adel is pulled into the confinement and trapped.

Laguna
"Ha ha ha! Piece of cake!"

Laguna (voice over)
"Adel was careless. She may be a sorceress, but after all, she was human."
"We succeeded...But...we couldn't keep such a dangerous sorceress around as a trophy."
"We had to do something...
So...we decided to send her far away...
Some place very far...Into outer space... "
(Emphasis added by me)

That makes five times that Adel is referred to as a Female with pronouns, rather than just the title of "Sorceress," which alone suggests that she is a Female, and there being no pronouns or titles used to suggest her being a Male.

Conclusion: Adel is a Female.

Final Fantasy VIII - Rinoa = Ultimecia?
The rumor: Quite simply, people think that Rinoa and Ultimecia are the same person, or have some very direct link that relates them to being the same.

Final Fantasies VII-VIII, X: - The Deal with the Kingdom Hearts Cameos.
The rumor: People often think that the Final Fantasy cameos in KH are the actual characters from their respective games.
Thread mentioned: This one!
The debunk: Debunked in thread by [Shiva].
Quote:
The only proof that I know of, off hand, is that one of the characters stated that they (the FF charas) were from Hollow Bastion, at least I think that's the name of the place. Also, (someone else said it, so I'm not taking credit for any of this), people need to realize that Tidus, in KH, is a child. Yes, Tidus has flashbacks of his past as a child, but be didn't -know- Wakka when he was a child; Tidus, in actuality, never WAS a child, therefore, Tidus and Wakka couldn't possible have know eachother 'till they were grown adults. o_o;

Many people argue that Aeris is dead in FFVII, therefore, she can't be alive in KH, therefore, she can't be the real Aeris. The only way I can see this of being as proved as wrong is this whole Alternate Reality/Time Loop thing. She could be the Aeris BEFORE being killed. But that's just my random insertion. O.o;

I'd like to make an addition to the Final Fantasies VII-VIII, X: - The Deal with the Kingdom Hearts Cameos rumor, etc..

[Will contain unfortunate spoilers, but all more for the better understanding for the presence of certain FF characters in Kingdom Hearts]

To argue that the characters are not those from their respective games, I'd first bring to extended explanation the placement of Tidus and Wakka.

For those who are fairly familiar with FFX's storyline, and are at least able to grasp the desired ideas exposed, it would be impossible to say that Wakka and Tidus were familiar in FFX's title, and then transferred to Kingdom Hearts.
Though it is easier to understand if one has played into FFX-2, following FFX, it is explained that Tidus is not, and never was an actual person - but instead a simple shadowed image of someone else who once existed on Spira [Shuin]. So because Shuin was murdered as an adult, and then Zanarkand's demise, Tidus' existence is nothing but a replica of what Shuin once was - as an adult, not a child. Therefore, Tidus never was a child, but instead had the memories of one, to further develop his personality and being. Whether or not they are Shuin's is not explained.
Because Wakka and Tidus are from different realms - one real, the other fantasy - it would be impossible for them to associate with one another before hand, unless Tidus was able to enter Spira from what he believed to be 1000 years into the future. Their lack of proper recognition in KH is hardly heart-warming to support the idea they are their respective characters; they are not.

Concerning Cloud and Aerith/Aeris. It is seen during the credits that Cloud had managed to find the light he was looking for - the beloved flower girl of Final Fantasy VII. But as seen in FFVII, Aerith/Aeris was killed and therefore brings inquiries to why she seems to exist in KH.
Their association does not relate to their past, only that they had been searching for each other. Though [Shiva] brings intriguing argument, it'd be near impossible for Aerith/Aeris to experience a time loop to a different realm, with Cloud no-less, and experience what she did as someone knowledgeable concerning Ansem's Reports without having interference with her presence [dead presence] back in FFVII.
She and Cloud are simply two other replicas of familiar characters, but not the actual characters themselves.

Yuffie/"Leon" Squall. There isn't solid evidence as to why Squall seemed to suffer an identity crisis, or why exactly the great ninja Yuffie seems to hang at his hip, other than they were both residents of Hollow Bastion - as Aerith/Aeris and Kairi had been. Therefore they did not come from their home worlds - being those in FFVII and FFVIII - but rather shared an existence together in Hollow Bastion, and simply resemble individuals from the previous Squeenix releases.

¬¬ May add further argument later...

Final Fantasy VII - ... Doesn't that mean Vincent is Sephiroth's Dad!?
The rumor: After thinking about it, some people tend to think that Vincent was the father of Lucretica's child.
Thread mentioned: ...?
The debunk: Debunked by Squall of SeeD. Found by [Shiva].
Squall of Seed
Contrary to popular belief, Hojo did not rape Lucrecia. She was in love with him and willingly had his child. She even refused Vincent's proposal because she loved Hojo. In Vincent's flashback, he sees Lucrecia kissing Hojo after refusing his proposal and says "If she is happy then... I don't mind."

Lucrecia loved Hojo to the point that she willingly surrendered their unborn child to Gast and Hojo's experiments involving JENOVA Cells. ( Farfetched Rumors )

An updated, more extended version by Squall of SeeD:
Quote:
While some may argue that Vincent was actually Sephiroth's Father, we have to keep in mind that nothing in the game suggests this. We know, of course, that Vincent was in love with Lucrecia, however, it is not suggested that those feelings were reciprocated, or that there was even a sexual relationship between them at all . From what we are shown in Vincent's flashback, that Lucrecia loved Hojo is clear -- such as when she rejects Vincent's proposal -- and Vincent resigns himself to that fact, saying "If she is happy then... I don't mind."

It should also be noted that this flashback first becomes available on Disc 2, after gaining control of the Shin-Ra Submarine. In effect, Hojo's revelation that he is Sephiroth's Father at the end of Disc 2 qualifies as what is considered in story-telling to be a "last minute revelation." It's the last and most definitivie bit of evidence regarding the patronal paternity of Sephiroth. Another aspect of story-telling is that the only possibility that has any evidence to suggest toward it is the one that is fact.

That being the case, with there being the evidence of Lucrecia rejecting Vincent for Hojo, being shown to be in love with Hojo, and with Hojo's last minute declaration -- which is further made "last minute" by the fact that journeying into the Northern Crater for the final showdown with JENOVA/Sephiroth is made available immediately after the showdown with Shin-Ra, the last battle of which takes place against Hojo -- Hojo has to be accepted as Sephiroth's Father until more evidence from the source material (the game FFVII or FFVII: Advent Children) can be brought forth to suggest otherwise, because at this time, there is no actual evidence in support of Vincent being the Father of Sephiroth, and only unsupported assumption can draw conclusions in that regard.

The Final Fantasy X Project - A Third Installment?

Thread mentioned: This one and a few others possibly.

Heh... I haven't been here for a while... I'll post the FFX-3 killer now... (I'm getting really tired of retyping it though.. I should save it in wordpad!)

Quote:
Rikku, too?
Remember those early reports suggesting FFX-2 would be two seperate side stories, one starring Yuna, the other starring Rikku? Well, you'd have to have the lungs of a bliztball champ if you wanted to hold your breath waiting for Rikku's quest to come out. Actually, don't bother, since it's not gonna happen. "It was pretty much a rumor," Katase explains. "to the extent that I know, it started at one of Square's corporate strategy meetings. They had talked about minimizing costs by developing titles based on and engine that was already created." Apparently, someone in the audience then asked about a game based off of FFX--or possibly several games starring all of the female characters. "It was all just based off of a rumor stemming from one of the questions that the media had posed to one of our executives," Kitase says.

Whew, the end... See, no FFX-3 starring Rikku! (Now if only people would read this!)

Final Fantasy VII - Genetically Incorrect
The rumor: There's been misconceptions that the clones shown in Nibelheim and the Northern Crater are exact replicas of Sephiroth himself.
Thread mentioned: This one.
The debunk: Debunked by Squall of SeeD.

Squall of SeeD
Evidence:

While the term "clone" is used in reference to Sephiroth's Clones, what is intended by this meaning is that they are people who underwent similar experimentation to Sephiroth, involving JENOVA Cells being injected into their bodies, and their bodies also being infused with Mako.

They are simply people that were the survivors of Sephiroth's massacre in Nibelheim, and which Hojo captured upon his arrival there, shortly after Sephiroth's defeat at the hands of Cloud. We know this based on Zangan, Tifa's Martial Arts instructor, letter to her:

Quote:
"Tifa, what's happened to our town? Was it all an illusion, or
just a dream? No, it was neither. I remember trying to get people out of
the flames, but not having the strength... Burning with anger, I went to
the reactor to kill Sephiroth."
"But he was nowhere to be found. Instead, I found you, collapsed
inside. I felt saving you was far more important than going after
Sephiroth. There were several others that were still alive inside, but I
was only able to save you."
"As I was coming out of the reactor, Shinra troops were just
arriving. I recall a scientist named Hojo was in charge. He ordered the
troops to gather up everyone still alive for the experiment. I didn't know
what type of experiment he was talking about, but I wasn't about to let
them have my dearest student."

With this being the case, it would be more accurate to say that the experiments performed on Sephiroth were "cloned," rather than Sephiroth himself, in an attempt to recreate the results that had been achieved in Sephiroth.

Also, we know that Cloud -- one of the survivors of the Nibelheim massacre, and, therefore, also one of Hojo's experiments and one of the "Sephiroth Clones" -- had a real childhood and truly grew up in Nibelheim based on the memories that Tifa helps him piece together in the Lifestream.

Further, keep in mind that this game was originally in Japanese, and that quite often connotations and meanings do not translate literally into English. As a result, the closest word that the English translators felt fit the Japanese meaning of the description of those who underwent similar experimentation to Sephiroth was "clone," though in this context, the word "copy" would be just as accurate.

Final Fantasy VII - Aerith or Aeris?
The rumor: People have started wars on which version of the Flower Girl's name is supposedly correct.
Thread mentioned: This one!
The debunk: More like clearing up. This is brought to you by the wonderful Melikochan:
Quote:
If I can, I'd like to bring an end to the Aeris/Aerith battle. This isn't really a rumor, per se, but rather a misconception. If this doesn't really apply to the thread, I apologize.

The character in question's name in Japan is NOT Aerith/Aeris, so stop saying that it is. Written in katakana, her name is "Earisu." Because the Japanese do not have any characters for "th," the "su" can be pronounced as such. (Ex. - Someone Japanese saying 'sank you' instead of 'thank you.' Ahaha, did that happen a lot when I was in Japan...) SO, technically, both translations of the name are COMPLETELY CORRECT, seeing as in Japanese, it can be pronounced either way.

It's just up to you to pick which spelling and English pronounciation you like better.

Final Fantasy VI - The Gogo Theories
The rumor: Apparantly, there are some misunderstandings about Gogo's role in FFVI.
Thread mentioned: WHO is Gogo? - by Arkane Knight
The debunk: This is brought to you by the user Arkane Knight:
Quote:
That is what started the cogs turning in my head to once and for all, debunk Gogo.

Gogo is found in the "X-Zone" we'll call it. Here, you travel through an almost 'maze'-like cavern. (but not really xp ) and you end up at this altar at which Gogo stands.

To first debunk some existing theories.
OHCRAP! GOGO IS DARYL! Gogo cannot be Daryl. Daryl's body is in her tomb.
Siegfried(managed to hone his skills, but didn't want anybody to know who he really was until necessary). Seigfried is the the WoR colluseum.
Gogo is Geshtal: He was thrown over the side of the Floating Continent, and it's possible he could have landed and got eaten by Zone Eater. Now. If you were Gesthal, and you had been able to recover yourself once arriving in Zone Eater...Would you use Mimic? Or would you use Merton, Flare, etc and bust some a** and get out of the cave?

Now, for my finishing touches (Most information in the below paragraph was gathered from various other forums on the internet, and pieced together for this express purpose):::: The Bolded part ends all theories.

Gogo was actually in FFV. Not as a playable character, of course, but an optional boss in the third world. When you "beat" it, it gives you the final crystal shard with the final job: the mimic. Gogo didn't look the same in FFV (http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/snes/ff5/enemies/gogo.gif), but that was Gogo nonetheless. You had to beat it in a trick battle, where the way to win was to do absolutely nothing during the battle (similar to the Dark Knight battle in FFIV, only this time Gogo won't attack you either, as long as you don't attack it). So, because Gogo was also in FFV, it's safe to say that it's actually not a person but rather just a mimic. That's it. If in any upcoming Final Fantasy game Square wants to make a mimic system of some kind, they'll get Gogo involved in some way.

And that's it. The mystery as to WHO Gogo is has been solved. He is just a mimic, an extra character. It could be said that if FF was on a timeline, Gogo would be timeless, and immortal aswell. Since he made his first appearence in FFV, I'd have to say his appearence in FFVI was to make all the people who did play FFV first go "OMFGSHITS IT'S GOGO!!" and rejoice at a familiar site, aside from Chocobos. Just someone to 'Multiclass' your abilities.

Final Fantasy VIII - Squall Did Not Die In The Ending
The rumor: Based on events in the game's ending, many people are led to believe that Squall may have possibly died.
Thread mentioned: N/A
The debunk: This is brought to you by the user Squall of SeeD:
Quote:
Despite the beliefs of some that Squall died in the ending to Final Fantasy VIII, and that Rinoa was simply slipping into insanity and imagining that he was still alive, with his appearance during the FMV after the credits have rolled simply being a hallucination from Rinoa's perspective, this is simply not the case. I will attempt to explain why.

The first thing to note is that after Rinoa hugs Squall's uncoscious form during the ending FMV, after the flowers have unfolded around them and the dark clouds above have rolled away, when she looks back down at Squall, she smiles in surprise and joy.

While one could, perhaps, argue that she was beginning to go insane here and was simply imaging that Squall had awakened, despite this not being supported by anything within the game itself and being solely assumption, there is more to debunk not only this theory, but that Rinoa had gone insane.

For example, if Rinoa had believed at that point that Squall was still alive when he was actually dead, the others would have been quite concerned for her mental state. In fact, I find it extremely unlikely and illogical to assume that they would have allowed her to go out on a balcony above the sea during the celebration in the Garden were Rinoa in such a state of mind.

Speaking of the balcony scene, there's the fact that Selphie was happily and ecstatically pointing toward the balcony area during the ending in order to get Irvine to point the camcorder in that direction. Her behavior suggests that something was taking place that she felt should most certainly be caught on film. Were Squall not standing there with Rinoa, I personally fail to see where Selphie would have had such cause for excitement.

Something else to note is that the point at which the camcorder's battery died was when Rinoa was pointing up at the shooting star above her. As we see after the credits have rolled, immediately after Rinoa has done this, Squall pulls her into an embrace and kisses her. Are we to assume that Selphie and Irvine stopped looking at Rinoa in the four seconds between the battery on the camcorder dying and the kiss between Rinoa and Squall? Certainly one of them at least would have noticed her hugging and kissing air. If that had, indeed, taken place, at that point they would have certainly been concerned for her mental state if they weren't already, what with believing earlier in the day that the body she was holding in the field of flowers behind Edea's Orphanage was still alive when it was dead.

There's no reason whatsoever to believe that Squall was not standing beside of Rinoa on the balcony. Being that there was a wall obstructing the camcorder's view of where Squall would have been standing on the balcony from the angle at which Irvine was pointing the camera, Squall could not have been seen before the battery on the camcorder died, anyway.

If the camcorder had actually had a vantage point of the entire balcony, and Squall were not visible on it at all, and then when things switched to "Rinoa's perspective," Squall were suddenly present, then we would have reason to believe that he was dead and that Rinoa had gone insane.

However, with that not being the case, we can only make conclusions based on what is given to us by the story itself. When one begins making conclusions that lie outside of the source material itself, they have gone beyond the threshold of reasonable assumption.

To assume that all or part of the ending was simply a hallucination of Rinoa is to assume something that isn't supported in any manner whatsoever by the game itself. Further, by utilizing such logic as this, one would have to also conclude that all of Final Fantasy VI beyond the Floating Continent incident in which the World of Balance becomes the World of Ruin, was nothing more than a dream that Celes had while she continued to lay in a coma, or that all of Final Fantasy VII after the Summoning of Meteor and the awakening of the WEAPONs was nothing more than a dream that Tifa experienced while she continued to lay in a coma.

In other words, in making this assumption that the game does not support, one must -- by the same logic they've employed to reach this conclusion -- also assume that in all other Final Fantasies in which there was a disaster or encounter of some kind that resulted in a character -- or several characters -- being rendered unconscious, that all of the subsequent events of the game were nothing more than a dream of that character, or one of those that was rendered unconscious.

If something does not happen in the game, nor is ever hinted at with the slightest amount of evidence, even so much as a single quote, as the matters in this theory are not, then it simply isn't what took place. All that is is what is within the story itself, until we're told otherwise by the creator of the story, or a subsequent story that adds more to the previous story. This theory simply does not hold to any form of logical reasoning.

Many seem to believe that Zack somehow survived the 20 or so rounds of ammunition that were fired into his head at close range, and then stumbled his way to the outskirts of Midgar, where he was found and taken to recuperate in a pipe.

This misunderstanding can be easily explained away, however.

The fellow in the pipe has a number 2 tattooed on his hand, as he is one of the Nibelheim Experiments that received Mako infusion and JENOVA Cell injections. We further know this because on Disc 3, should the player return to Midgar and visit the fellow who had been looking after him, he will mention that the sick guy who had been recuperating in the pipe left some time before, muttering something about a Reunion.

There are a couple of reasons that we can be certain that this isn't Zack. The first is that Aerith does not recognize him, despite Zack having been her boyfriend that she loved so much that, upon meeting Cloud, she found herself drawn to him because of his habitual similarities to Zack and the similarities in personality. Were he the boyfriend that she had loved and lost, because of whom she was then finding herself attracted to one that was greatly similar to him, it's a safe assumption that she would at least recognize him, or that he would have recognized her. However, neither display any recognition toward the other.

The most conclusive evidence toward the fellow not being Zack, however, is that Zack never received a numbered tattoo, just as Cloud did not, as they escaped from the Shinra Mansion before that could take place.

Noting the Escapee Reports that can be read in the back of the Shinra Mansion's Library, we can clearly see that where there should be numbers were either of them given numbers (within the parentheses that follow the word "number" in their descriptions), there are none and the area is blank:

Quote:
Escapee Report No. 1
X Month X Day
The two escapees were located near Midgar.

Escapee Report No. 2
Description of the time of capture.
A - Former member of SOLDIER/Number ( )
No effect could be detected from either Mako Radiation Therapy or Jenova on him.
B - Regular/Number ( )
Reaction to Jenova detected.

Escapee Report No. 3
Concerning their disposal.
A - Shot for resisting.
B - Escaped during A's resistance.

Escapee Report No. 4
Other
B's whereabouts are currently unknown.
But, we submit there is no need to pursue him, due to his diminishing conciousness. Awaiting further instructions.

Zack never received a numbered tattoo, just as Cloud did not. Further, Aerith, the Woman who loved him, did not show any recognition toward the man in the pipe. Zack simply wasn't him.

Final Fantasy Series - Sakaguchi's bringing FF to X-Box?! OMGNOOOOOO!!1
The rumor: Recent news has spilled out about Hironobu Sakaguchi developing games for X-Box. Since Sakaguchi is the creator of FF, people assume that he's bringing Final Fantasy to the X-Box. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACUTAL SERIES MOVING TO THE X-BOX IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
Thread mentioned: FF will not be on XBox - by King Bahamut, This is sad. Sakaguchi on the XBox? - by Tearin, Final Fantasy is NOT Going to X Box - by The Lost Lenore, and FF on XBox - by IcePumpkyn.
The debunk: Sakaguchi left Square-Enix quite sometime ago and started his own company; meaning Sakaguchi has no rights to publish Final Fantasy on any other system. He may have created it, but when he left Square-Enix, he forefited all rights to his creation with the company. Despite him leaving, there isn't any reason for him to return to Square-Enix after these X-Box games are created because he started his own company, MistWalker. It wouldn't make much sense, now would it?

The user King Bahamut added:
King Bahamut
I hope this will clear up any any confusion about the games to be created by Mistwalker and Microsoft Gaming Studios.
Square Enix are not making any games for the XBox or Microsoft's next-generation console.
The Final Fantasy series will not appear on the Xbox.
Former Square Enix staff are helping create the said games.

Final Fantasy VII - What the ********? Remake?
The rumor: There's stipulation going around that FFVII is going to be remade, since the tech demo that was shown at E3 2005 by SquareEnix.
Thread mentioned: Many of them, but most are deleted now. However, there are threads that either denounce this, or have new evidence proving otherwise.
The debunk: As of when the "rumor" first started back in ********, the whole idea of a remake hadn't been planned by SquareEnix, and no press releases were stated on it. Basically, it was a tech demo, stfu fanpoodles. Fast forward to about late July/early August, a recent article from Gamespot, that interviewed some reps at SquareEnix and which they mentioned that because of the reaction from fans that the idea of a remake is going to be planned for future projects. So all arguments, or people who flat out said that there wasn't going to be one, were just proven wrong with a "heh, maybe *Dr. Evil pinky*" statement from SE. So for now it's just a wait and see.

Final Fantasy IX - Genome Gender Confusion
The rumor/theory: Stated by Plain Adonis: "Genomes are all transsexual and each one is potentially male or female"
The debunk: This is somewhat in conjunction to the Kuja's Gender Switch Upon Arrival of U.S. Shores rumor, but it's also a clarification explained by Plain Adonis on what the exact gender of the Genomes are.
Plain Adonis
I'd like to disprove a theory.

Theory: "Genomes are all transsexual and each one is potentially male or female"

Disproof: "The Genome NPC disproves this quite clearly in a brief conversation that goes like this:

- "But hey, you guys have both males and female, right?"
- "Asexual beings would lack the genetic diversisty to adapt to a new environment"

The new environment mentioned is obviously Gaia, as the purpose of the Terrans was to usurp young planets in order to carry on their existence beyond its natural expiration. The Genome NPC's answer is fitting for their species but perhaps needlessly complex. What it means is simply "yes, we do have both males and females".

Beyond that statement, we have physical appearance. There are only two basic 3D models for the Genome people. One of them has boobies and wears more covering clothes, the other has a flat chest and wears about the same style of clothes as Kuja does. Kuja being a Genome constatly refered to by male pronouns. Incidentally, the female Genomes wear about the same style of clothes as Mikoto. Mikoto being a Genome constantly refered to by female pronouns.
As such, there is absolutely no evidence whatsover of Genomes being naturally transsexual, while there's a whole lot of evidence of them having both genders, including lines, pronouns, and general physical appearance."

Sure! Go ahead. I'll just add everything in as things go. ^_^;;

Hey, you could probably add that "Rinoa is Ultimecia" theory to the rumors, as well. I can supply the proof to debunk it if you would like, or you can just check this Thread.

You can also add the question of Adel's gender to the rumors, and I can supply the proof that it's invalid, as well:

Umm... I'd tell you to put up Moony's FF monopoly, but hes not done yet... That kid is never coming back...
