You may think it doesn’t matter how you treat your things, but, while it may not effect you, it will certainly be a pain to someone. On the 100th birthday of the discarded item, it will be given a second chance… at revenge.

Depending on how the item was treated throughout its 100 years of existence, decides the personality of the tsukumogami. If it was treated well, it will be good. But if it was treated poorly, then the spirit that possesses the item will be vengeful and out for mischief.

They are relatively harmless and usually do nothing further than mischief.

Better be careful what you find…

Over the years there have been many different ways of portraying a tsukumogami. Examples would be just an item with human-like characteristics, limbs, eyes, or mouths. Another way of doing so is making the items themselves the heads of various animals or humans. Either style can and will be shown here depending on my mood.



So now you find yourself in a very unusual antique shop where the products are not only old, they are ALIVE. The shopkeepers are assisted by walking dishes, pillows, lanterns, wish keepers, and various other 100 year old items. Perhaps you’ll find something that catches your fancy…

General Rules
[1] Be respectful of your fellow lurkers, staff, mules, tsukumogami, and anyone else. I don’t want any trouble unless it’s rping.
[2] Do not beg. I work in 3 other shops and will find time to make pets for sales on my OWN time. I appreciate your enthusiasm, but no begging!
[3] Do NOT pm Deshi or any of the artists. If you do, you will be warned once and if it happens again you will be banned. If you have any questions, pm the mule, Hyakki Yako.
[4] You MUST rp at least once a month. It’s not a lot to ask, it really isn’t. Don’t just pop in either. Make an entry that is more than 10 sentences. I HATE making art for people who don’t seem to appreciate it. If you do not at least do this your child may be taken away and may even become a vengeful spirit due to being neglected! You wouldn’t want THAT, would you? If you cannot do that, atleast write a few little entries whenever you are on. Something to add up to atleast 10 by the end of the month. This is just to make sure once you get your pet you don't disappear forever and expect it to grow.
[5] Do not steal my art. I WILL hunt you down, and I WILL report you. Someone has stolen my art before and justice WAS served. Mark my words.
[6] If you rp in addition to the required monthly rp you will probably be given great benefits.
[7] Don’t spam my shop. I will report you. And PLEASE, try to be literate! Use caps, punctuation, and as little run on’s as possible. I know something it happens, but it aggravates me when it is done excessively. Over time I can tell if it is a typo or you just being illiterate. If you can't form a sentence, take it elsewhere.
[8] Do NOT ask when the shop is opening, can you help, or any form of question that would make me feel like I am being rushed. I'm working as fast as I can and no... You CANNOT help. And if you ask again I will black list you so fast you won't know what hit you. It's REALLY annoying when EVERYONE does it. Sweet, and thoughtful, but annoying.
[9] If you cannot help but be an insufferable n00b, I'm afraid your chances of getting a pet here is slim to none. PLEASE try checking your spelling (typos are fine but one can tell when someone just doesn't care). USE punctuation, for God's sake! It's there for a reason! Don't ask stupid questions. Don't rush me. Don't be a p***k. Just don't.



RP Rules
[1] No killing! They may be vengeful but they are not murderers... Just playful to cruel pranks.
[2] No God Modding!
[3] No Mary Sue! >.<
[4] Keep it clean. I don't mind gore or romance but not tooo much detail on gore (though I don't know what kind of gore this place would have) and no sexual content.
[5] Cursing is allowed as long as it is kept to a minimal and not used to extremes. No F word. Sorry, I don't like that word.



FAQ
[Q] Can the pets terrorize lurkers?
[A] Sure! Just be sure to do so in moderation. I don't want to get any complaints. Just look for signs that it is getting annoying or out of hand. More like pestering or pranking rather than terrorizing...
[Q] Do we just play the item or can we play ourselves as well?
[A] Oh yes, play you and the item. Unless you want the item to have no particular owner. That's up to you.
[Q] Can they breed?
[A] Uhh... I haven't really worked that out yet, but as of now... no. They are possessed items so I'm not sure how they would breed... If you have any ideas, feel free to let me know. If they DO gain the ability to breed, it will probably be only for the teen stage. And it does bring up interesting thoughts... If items couldn't breed, we wouldn't have sporks, now would we? heart
[Q] How do I join the mailing list?
[A] Simply add Hyakki Yako as a friend! biggrin
[Q] What kind of items will there be? Just Japanese or anything?
[A] It can be anything! A bowl, a rug, a pillow, a spatula, a pasta shell, anything! However, there are very few restrictions. I do not allow modern iitems such as iPods or PS2s. They are just too new and have not yet reached 100 years of age. Also, food items are restricted. Now, sometimes I will allow it if it does not age or I have a really good idea for one and am too stubborn to stick to the plot. XD A food item lasting 100 years is a little odd to think about but some items could and some items just will anyway. So check it with me before you suggest something for a custom or auction.
[Q] Uh, you put the year wrong on the cert. What's up with that?
[A] because they are Tsukumogami! They are items that have reached 100 years of age! So naturally, they were BORN 100 years before the day they reach Haunted stage. biggrin See?

This is a section for general info that I thought was too important to stick in rules of FAQ.

+ Backstory - When you are first shown the item for an auction, flatsale, raffle, or whatever I will include with it a brief history and possibly a personality. This is because I have already drawn this tsukumogami's child stage and whatever expression or pose it has distict a certain personality. This is not because I want to be mean and tell you how to play the pet, but it's just a guildline for you on how I see them.

+ You and your Tsukumogami - You can treat the tsukumogami however you wish. You will be playing the item and yourself so your relationship together is vital. You may treat the item as a friend, a child, a servant, or a pest. Even if it is a servant, that doesn't mean you have to be cruel to it. After all, it is YOUR item, and it's soul purpose of creation was to please its master. It would not be wrong for you to treat it as such. Pest, however, would imply that you are cruel to the item. This may result in the item becoming mean spirited to have had such a good life and then have YOU for an owner. Though some may remain kind and timid or just try harder to please you. It doesn't matter how you treat them, as long as it is clear in your rp. I can't tell you how to treat them.

+ Children - The reason they become children is because, in my mind, they are just pranksters. Even vengeful spirits are just playful. They do not mean to cause real harm, just prank people and cause mischief. They are like children, doing what they wish and causing chaos without really doing harm.

+ Speech - They can speak from the time they become possessed on, unless you decide your tsukumogami is mute. Far be it from me to tell you it can't be mute. I do ask that you please use "" when they speak during formal rping. Informal rp you can use ** for actions and leave the open text for spoken words.

+ The RP - This rp takes place in modern times in an antique shop. It seems perfectly normal in the fact that it has shelf after shelf of old items for sale. Some stacked, some shelved, some on display tables, ect. But for some odd reason, some are running around! There are just random items with arms and legs helping to keep up with and manage the shop. Among the living items is Zori-kun, the shop's mascot and the shopkeeper's personal tsukumogami. Sometimes they scatter like roaches when a new person enters the shop. You can rp in other locations in the shop as well, such as going to get a burger with a friend or whatever. Just make sure you specify where you are at all times so people know you are not in the shop and walk up to you without knowing. It will sort of freeze the rp until people realize what the problem is.

+ Shopkeeper - Zori calls her Keeper-sama, short for Shopkeeper. Some call her Hyakki-sama. Reguardless of her name, there are many rumors about her. Some say she is a witch. Some say she is a Yuki-onna. Some say she is a Tsukumogami herself. Whatever the case, she is very beautiful, distant, calm, and kind... most of the time. More on her later.

+ Entrance - Based on the items backstory, when you enter the shop after having gained a tsukumogami, you can either have inherited it and come in to see how much it is worth, you can come in and buy your item, you can have found it and want more information on it, ect. As long as it has something to do with you coming into the shop and somehow gaining ownership over an old item.

+ Powers - Powers aren't just themed after the item itself. Sure, some are. For example, Paper Lantern is fire. Duh. Pillow is sleep. Duh. But some aren't so obvious such as bowl who's power is strength. Bowls carry things. Now, if that was personified, someone being able to carry various things would require strength, right? Yeah, I'm dumb... Other powers might stem from the person the item grows to be. Fork will be ninja-like so it's power will be speed. Understand how my mind works now?
