Following the stone path at your feet, it's hard to remember how you came to this little neck of the woods. Coming out of your reverie, you realize that the stones lead straight to the rough door of a small pitched-roof cabin in the midst of the forest.

You stop, straining your ears for any sign of life, but the only thing that can be discerned is a high-pitched mewing sound coming from a crack at the base of the door. Before you can reach out to knock, the door opens and a young-looking woman with silver hair smiles at you.

"Welcome to the Kitter Katz Adoption Agency! Its been so long since we've received any visitors, I was starting to worry that I didn't have enough room in my little house to manage all of these kittlings!" She exclaims, pulling you inside. It is only after your eyes adjust to the dim light within the room that you get a look at the creature that had been mewing at the door. A tiny little cat is perched on the woman's head.
"I'm Mira, nice to meet you. Have a seat anywhere you like, just look carefully before you do."

05.24.10 Long time no update. Those of you who know me are probably aware that I've had some pretty life altering drama recently, so I haven't had the gumption to work on Kitter Katz. I got 3 private messages today asking if our little kitters are available for adoption, so I thought I should take a moment to close the shop.
Yes, for the first time in Kitter Katz history (I believe), the shop is closed.
I just can't organize my mind enough right now to adopt out Kitter Katz.
I also can't say how long the shop will be closed for, so try to hang in there for the time being.
In the meantime though, feel free to continue to role-play, hang out and enjoy the awesome regulars here at the shop, I'll be making appearances occasionally now that I have my internet back.
And who knows, I might just get a wild hair and toss out some new kitters if I can get the energy. wink

01.12.10 Contrary to popular example, Mira is not dead!
Life has been a bit crazy, although you all know I couldn't leave Gaia behind completely. It seems like I've missed a whole lot, so bear with me for the time being while I attempt to wrap my head around things.

12.03.08 Hello my dearies!!! My how I have missed you all! November flew by in a flurry of words and panicked attempts to make sure I got my 50k words by the end of last month. And I am happy to report that I am officially a winner! My final word count was 52,036 words!
I'm sorry for having announced that Jez would be opening her breeding slot and then not getting back to do so. In all honesty, I just couldn't find time to do anything aside from write and try to keep from being lost in a pile of laundry and house work in the meantime. I've spent the first 3 days of December cleaning up after Nanowrimo. But back on the topic of Jez' breeding room, I ended up talking her into joining me! She started a week late, but she also made it to the winner's circle with 50,075 words! Seeing her dedication to it even though she started late really did a great job of keeping me focused and determined to win. Also, so many of you posted support and cheered me on, so THANK YOU!!
I'll be making a new journal topic with all the details if anyone is curious, but for now I have an important announcement:

Nanowrimo Ate Mira's Computer! T______T Yes, somewhere between 20k and 23k I believe, my computer shut down and I couldn't get it to start again!
To make a long story short, my amazingly awesome and squee-inducing darling husband of love decided right then and there that it was time to buy me an early Christmas present... A Laptop!! O.O
I love it. I have named her Smitty, because it's so purty and neato that I have become smitten with her.
The only problem is, *cough* All of my data and kitter katz stuff is on the old hard drive. So... Yeah. I'm not giving up hope that we can find a way to access my old hard drive and get my files off of it, but until we figure out a way to do that, I have no access to my Kitter Katz stuff. D=
Anyone have experience with that sort of thing? If so, I'd love some advice!
So for now, I'm afraid to say that we're all going to have to hang tight for a bit longer until I can get those all important files back. For those katz whose kittlings have been waiting to come out of their bubbles and or boxes, please hang in there a bit more! I had everything set and ready for updating before I lost my computer files, so hopefully I can get them back.

Woo! Mira loves Halloween, and so do Kitter Katz! We've got some fun things brewin' for this month, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for Trick or Treat Bags! They appear to contain some interesting stuff!
Most of them are handed out by the staff, but it seems that Mira may have dropped a few around the guild. If you find one, make sure to let her know by posting it in the Exchange! Don't forget to let us know where you found it when you post!

"One winter evening," Mira begins, taking a deep breath and setting a kitling on your lap absently "I heard a scuffling sound at my doorstep. When I opened the door, I found two Kitlings huddled together in the cold. One was an adorable Siamese, and the other was a sweet little black and white spotted type. They where so tiny that I nearly missed them, but their mewing brought my attention down, to their tiny little faces. They looked at me with their sweet little eyes as if pleading.
How could I just leave them out there? They where so tiny that the wind would certainly have blown them away if I didn't bring them inside! So, I scooped them up, set them together on a pillow by my fireplace and proceeded to feed them warm milk.
Well, they grew very quickly and in time, Lyra and Leon had a whole new litter of these lovely little Kitkats! And soon enough, more where coming to my house, obviously drawn by some mysterious force.
Now I have so many I can barely walk around my house without stepping on a tail or little paw and I realize that I've got to let some of them find new owners.
It's not very often that strangers come around here, and its become so rare that I'm desperate to find these little ones good homes! I hope that you will consider adopting one and try to tell others about our cozy little cabin in the woods."

General Information

Stages

1. Kittling Box
All Kitter Katz have to start out somewhere! And for most of them, it's right here in their cozy little cardboard box while their Mother carefully guards them. Newborn kittlings spend most of their time sleeping and growing strong.

2. Kittling
But after a time, they tend to get curious about the outside world and come out to play! This is a very special time in a Kittling's life. Full of adventure and meeting new friends, they're still a bit uncertain and learning all about what it takes to be a Kitter Kat.

3. Adult
Adult katz have a range of personalities and looks. While they may have refused to wear any items in their youth, they're now fully willing to show off their own personal style! They are also ready to mate for their first time, and confident enough to go out and explore everywhere!

4. ???
A mysterious potion is said to evolve Kitter Katz in a very special way. This potion may be found in the Koin Shop, but is also available very rarely through special auctions.

Habitat
Where do Kitter Katz live? In the Kitkat Habitat of course!
Your Habitat consists of three sections:

01. The toybox. This is where all of the items go when you purchase anything that your Kitkat interacts with or wears.
Kitkats are a fiesty bunch and become bored very easily if they don't have anything to look at and play with! Bored Kitkats are harder for their owners to bond with.

02. Kitkat Habitat main window . Here is the place where your Kitkats live and play! Don't forget to furnish it. There are many different items to purchase.

03. Certificate. This information displays your Kitkatz' name (pink for female Kitkatz, blue for males), owner's name, date of birth, parents, number of kitlings (if any, this is only after your Kitkat has bred) and their nature.

Owner Bonding
You may have also noticed a little thought bubble near your Kitter kat. This displays the affection level he or she has for you! You will have to play with your Kitter Kat (by RPing them here), or buy them lots of neat items in order for them to bond with you and be able to breed.

There are three levels:

This first level indicates that your Kitter Kat and you are not very close. Remember to play with your Kitkat or buy them items to wear and play with!

The second level means that the two of you are starting to get a long very well. Continue to treat your kitkat with love and you will bond very soon!

The last level means that the two of you have bonded! The bond a Kitkat shares with their owner is very special indeed. Now they are ready to mate!

Pair Bonding & The Love Potion
Some Kitter Katz may form a very special bond while interacting with eachother (via roleplay) and fall in Kitkat love!
Pair bonded Kitkatz have certain perks, such as being able to share a habitat together and they also have a higher chance of bearing larger litters!

Kitkatz and owners who don't want to have to wait for the bonding process may purchase a Love Potion to instantly bond two Kitkatz!

Events
Yessiree! There are going to be special events here at the Kitter Katz Adoption Agency! Sometimes they will be held here in the thread and everyone can participate, other times they will only occur randomly and to some Kitkat owners.
Kitter Katz are very sensitive creatures and often pick up on things before their owners, so keep an eye out for this thought bubble:

If you see this bubble by your Kitkat, stop by the agency and post a message to claim your prize! It could be anything from a discount card to a new rare item!
But be quick, because after a few days, the event will disappear and cannot be reclaimed.

How do I get a Kitter Kat?
You can obtain a kitter kat by a couple of different ways:

You can wait for a flatsale
You can get one via an auction or raffle
You can purchase a custom Kitter Kat if the slot for that month is still open
Last but not least, you can buy or be given a kittling from one of the other owner's when their kitkatz have a litter.

To be kept informed on flatsales, raffles, auctions or any of the other goings-on at Kitterkatz, you can add yourself to the mailing list by sending a friend request to the mule, Kitkatz_Mail.

What is a "Flatsale"?
Flatsales are open to anyone who wants to buy a kat at a set price.
Held in the main thread, there will example images of the pets available for adoption put up shortly before the sale is opened. Depending on the type (Common, Rare, Hybrid), the prices vary.
They are announced a few days before the sale begins, and when "Flatsale Open" is posted in the thread, it is first-come, first served. The people who post and claim the kat they want are the winners of that pet.

What is a "Auction"?
Auctions are... Well, pretty much exactly what they sound like. They're not as common as flatsales, but there is usually very special katz available to buy, sometimes with custom habitats that aren't available anywhere else.
They function like any other auction. They have an end date, and whoever has the highest bid at the end of the time limit wins the pet, or they can be "autoed" by offering a price set at the time of the auction by Mira.

What is a "Raffle"?
Participants pay for a ticket until X amount of tickets are sold, or X amount of time passes. Then the winning number is randomized, and the person holding that number wins the Kat.

What is a "Proxy"?
A proxy is a stand-in who you have requested to act in your stead if you can't make it to an event.
You can have someone proxy for you if you will not be able to attend a sale, custom or breeding slot opening- That way you won't have to miss out entirely!
One proxy is allowed per person.

When can Kitkatz breed?
When they have reached their adult stage and only after they have bonded (indicated by a heart in their thought-bubble) with their owner.

Do Kitkatz mate for life?
Most Kitkatz do not mate for life, but there are some who have bonded very closely through role play who will do so.
If a pair DO bond, they will be unable to mate with any other Kitkat. Attempting to do so will immediately break the bond they had formerly and the two will never be able to mate again.

What kind of Kitlings will my Kitkat have when they breed?
Well, that depends upon which two kitkatz breed together. If they are both uncommon, it is certain that they will have at least one uncommon kitling. The same goes for rare and cosplay Kitkatz.
Other than that, the kitlings may be any breed- Even a hybrid of their two parents or grandparents!

How do two Kitter Katz become a bonded pair?
When two kitkatz get to know each other through RPing and fall in kitkat love, they may form their own bond together.
When this happens, the owners may choose to have a bonding ceremony for them and may also choose whether or not the two should have a shared habitat.

What is the benefit of bonded Kitkatz?
The bonded pair, when mated usually have a larger litter. They also have the option of having a shared habitat. Both owners must decide which items they would like in their rooms and agree on any new items that are purchased for the habitat.
Last but not least, bonded kitter katz skip the first stage in the breeding process.

How many kitlings are in a litter?
There can be anywhere from 2 to 6 Kitlings in a litter.

I don't want my Kitter Kat anymore... Can I just give it away?
No!! Unwanted Kitkatz should be returned to the adoption agency so they can be sure to find a good, loving home!

What do Kitkatz do?
Well, they always enjoy being around their owners, but they also LOVE to play with each other! Stop by the Adoption Agency sometimes and let them loose with the others, or visit the guild to hang out in Draken Forest and have an adventure!

Do Kitkatz communicate?
Of course! Kitkatz who have a very close bond with their owners communicate with them by speaking mind-to-mind, and seem to do the same with other Kitkatz. Owners who have not yet bonded with their Kitkatz may have trouble understanding their pet.

Do you do custom Kitkatz?
Yes I do! In fact, we two custom slots available each month. One for 20k and a bribery slot that can be purchased with 2 donation letters from the current month. Check the Adoption post to find out if one is available this month!

What comes with a custom Kitter Kat?
You may choose the look of your kitter kat (fur pattern/colors), gender, nature and you get to pick the color of your habitat's roof and room outlines!

If I want to adopt a Kitling, not a Kitter Kat, how do I get one?
Kitlings will only be available for adoption when kitkatz breed and have kitlings that are old enough for adoption. They are sold via flatsales, or may be purchased from or given away by their owners.

I bought my Kitkat ages ago and I still haven't gotten the bonded icon! He has a smiley face, but that's all!
Kitkatz are very easy to please most of the time. But if their owners don't bring them to the center to interact with other kitkatz and their owner, they are a bit more difficult to please.
If you don't have the time to interact with your little one, at least buy them a toy or two to keep them from getting bored.
If you follow either (or both) of these steps and your Kitkat still hasn't bonded, please let me know!

Can I role-play my Kitterkat outside of the adoption center?
Of course! Kitkatz love being with their owner no matter where it is. Make the most of them!

I'd like a journal for my Kitterkat. How do I get one?
Journals can be created for Kitter Katz by their owner in the Journals sub-forum of the guild!

If I pay to have two of my own Kitkatz breed, do I get two Kittlings from the litter?
Actually, it's one kittling per owner, so you get to pick one kittling to keep.

What if one of the breeding katz is co-owned?
The owner who pays for the breeding will be given the pick of the litter option.

Can I purchase a habitat before I adopt a kat?
I'm sorry, but no. You'll have to wait and adopt a kat before you can construct a habitat.

Can I change the color of previously purchased items/wallpapers/flooring?
Yes you can, the price is 1/2 of the cost of the original item, wallpaper or flooring to change the color.

Can I put away items I no longer want, but save them for later?
Yes, if you decide to remove an item, it is put in storage for you and you can access it any time you want.

My katz' personality doesn't suit him/her! Can I change it?
The only way to alter a Kitter Katz' personality is through Role-Play. You must be able to prove that their exhibited personality is different than that listed on their cert, and PM Mira with a link to any RP that demonstrates their proper type.

Common flatsale Kitkatz are priced at 500g.
Uncommon flatsale Kitkatz are priced at 1000g.
Hybrid flatsale katz are priced at 2000g
One Kitter kat per person per flatsale only.
Proxying (having another person adopt a kittling in your stead) is allowed as long as the person proxying for you is not also trying to get a Kat for themselves. (See above rule)
No reserving. You must be present at the time of the flatsale to qualify, or have someone proxy for you.
Editing of posts is BAD and will result in an automatic disqualification from the flatsale and blacklisting for one week.
Guilt tripping other flatsale participants, whining, bullying or any attempts to sway other participant's inclusion in the flatsale WILL result in immediate blacklisting for one month... possibly permanent depending upon the seriousness.
Flatsale begins when I post in the topic "Flatsale Open" and closes when the last Kitter Kat has been adopted.
After winners have been announced, new owners should begin the trade to Mira for the correct price of the Kat they have chosen and any items they would like to purchase.
Please remember to choose a habitat for your Kitkat after purchasing.
Please use the form and include the prices and names of the items when adopting a Kat. Remember to list the quantity if you want more than one of a specific item.
If you are making a new habitat, or if this is your first Kitter Kat, please include at least ONE indoors room to ensure that you get the pretty roof on top of your cert.

All About Breeding:

[Sample stages]

Stage 1: The two breeding Kitter Katz leave their habitats and are comfortably housed at the Kitter Kat Love Shack. They are getting to know each other and enjoying the romantic ambiance.
Duration- About 1 week

Stage 2: The ambiance seems to have done it's job! The pair is getting closer and snuggling.
Duration- About 1 week

Stage 3: The curtains have closed to allow the pair to have some privacy.
Duration- 2-3 days

Stage 4: The Kitkatz have returned to their respective habitats and the mother has brought a special box with her that mews and wiggles occasionally.
Duration- About 1 week

Stage 5: The Kittlings have grown enough to fend for themselves! They'll stay with their mother for another week before finding owners of their own.
Duration- About 1 week

The Nitty-Gritty:

Pricing: 5000g, owners may choose to split the cost.
Kitter Katz may breed only when they are in their adult stage and after they have bonded with their owner.
Before the two can mate, both owners must consent to the trade.
Litter size is anywhere from 2 to 6 kitlings.
Bonded pairs skip the first stage of the breeding process.
Owners get the pick of the litter and may chose to keep it themselves, or give their kitling to a friend. Only one Kittling may be kept per owner. In other words, if you own both of the breeding kitterkatz, you may only keep one Kittling.
The rest of the litter will return to the agency to find new owners.
Kitlings will grow to Kitkatz in approximately 2 weeks.
Owners who roleplay in the Loveshack may get some perks! Roleplay threads can be accessed by visiting the roleplay subforum in the guild or simply click the room your kitterkatz are in!
Only three rooms will be opened each month, and only one room per owner each month. Let's not be greedy now. ^.~

While Kitter Katz love hanging out and playing with their owner, there's nothing like the fun they can have with their own kind.
Roleplaying your Kitter Kat has all sorts of benefits, from special items to koin collecting for rare items and even pair bonding! If they're lucky, they might even stumble upon a mysterious Meeko egg.
There are all sorts of places to see outside of the Kitter Kat Cabin, many of them still undiscovered, so stop by the guild and start exploring!

The map as we know it...

Kitter Kat Cabin
Deep in the heart of Draken Forest is a cozy little cabin where the small breed of Kitter Katz live. Often the meeting place for Katz who want to go out and explore, it is equally welcoming to their human owners who just feel like hanging out and having a chat with each other.

Honeydews Garden
A gorgeous and lovingly tended garden just outside the cabin's back door. It is a beautiful, peaceful place for all Kitter Katz. Guarded by Honeydew the dryad, kittlings especially love the many small adventures to be found here.

Draken Forest
An ancient sprawling forest just beyond the cabin's picket fence. Inhabited by many strange creatures and guarded by a sharp-tongued fairy, it's a great place to go if you're looking for adventure!

Marshmellow Falls
A crystalline waterfall emptying into a serene pool of water in the midst of Drakken Forest, Marshmellow Falls was named for a young Kat named Marshmellow who discovered the place and fell into the water! Happily, it is now guarded by Calista Crystalmist, a naiad who is certain to ensure such a thing never happens again.

A list of the people who make running the Kitter Katz Adoption Agency a lot of fun.

1. Teckno_Dude01- For bumping, RPing with Milo and being an all around sweet guy.
2. Anthro!Sparky- For being a sweet heart, bumping the topic, answering questions and a being a great friend. Not to mention how much she cares for her pets. *glomps*
3. Lymelady- For being a wonderful pet owner and being so helpful around the Kitter Katz thread.
4. Altoidgirl405- Alty! I luffle you! She's such a sweet heart, always kind and friendly, and loves her Kitter Katz.
5. luvhina- One of the original owners, Luv is certainly worthy of being on the whitelist. She answers questions, stuck by us during our hiatus and is a wonderful owner.
6. CHOCOLATE~ANG3L- For supporting the shop during our long hiatus and... well, sort of growing up here! Choco has her own Kitter Katz owner shop and has been active and sweet no matter what!
7. zimt- - For supporting the shop during our long hiatus, Zimmy has always been active and sweet to everyone.
8. Negashi (FKA Zadea)- - For supporting the shop during our long hiatus and because... well, she's just squeeky! *huggers*
9. Husky Pup- - For supporting the shop during our long hiatus, and being a wonderful, helpful person.
10. rainbow_sparckle- - For supporting the shop during our long hiatus and being a wonderful person.
11. Belle Boyd- For supporting the shop during our long hiatus, being and active and friendly owner and general squishiness.
12. leon490- For supporting the shop during our long hiatus!
13. Riyo the Neko Youkai- For being a great friend, always willing to help and making RP's endlessly entertaining!
14. Nekolulu- A longtime owner and all around sweetheart.
15. Sorrelkit- Another wonderful owner and friend. She's always quick to help and has a great sense of humor!
16. Calista Crystalmist- Aka Jezabella, has always been a huge help around Kitter Katz.

Black listed folk may no longer participate in flatsales, auctions, events or purchase anything for their Kat.
In very serious cases, their Katz may even run away if their owner misbehaves, so make sure you stay off of this list by reading and following the rules!

Thingula
Reason: For stealing Kitter Katz graphics and using it in his own pet shop!
Duration: Forever. Despite saying he would do so, he did not remove the images in question.

The Mailing List is currently disabled!
Unfortunately, since sending messages to multiple friends is now disabled, it takes us almost an hour to send all the messages out.
Feel free to add yourself anyway, in the hopes that the admins re-enable the feature in the future.
