Hunter's Dark Founding

Hunter was once a human, a mighty general in the armies of Uriah. He was one of nine generals, each held an unswerving loyalty to their lord. Many years later they stormed the fortress of Cardas, a mighty demon lord. Uriah defeated Cardas and ate his heart, thus turning him in to a demon. Two years later he gave his nine generals, a chalice filled with his essence, when they drank out of it they were immortals. They now refer to each other as brothers and Uriah as Father.
Their army was the greatest in the entire old world, until the north miners uncovered a dark gateway. When the miners had uncovered the entire gateway it bust alive, oozing with darkness and spewing forth mutating energy. The miners were changed by the energy turned into demonic monsters, and out of the gateway came the Great Devourer. He came to conquer Gaia and make it his. He offered immortality to those who would join him and death to that would dare stand against him.
Everywhere on Gaia blood-made warriors clashed. Some pledged loyalty to the allied armies of Gaia. Others swore fealty to the Great Devourer; to the demonic powers he granted them. Gaia was in turmoil and some of the greatest battles in history were being fought over fifty thousand warriors died in a single day on the killing field Predagor. On the blazing deserts of Ka’an thirty thousand soldiers clashed. The city of Vanaheim was depopulated by the demonic forces as a warning against resistance and still the defenders fought to the last man.
Like a cancer the conquest infected everywhere on Gaia. Everywhere brave men gave up their lives to try and excise that cancer.
It was at the Dark Gateway that the fate of Gaia was to be decided. In those last days, the sky was black with dust clouds. Rains of blood and ash dripped from the dark sky. Everywhere oracles muttered evil portents and men went mad with fear.
Brave men checked their weapons and offered last prayers. They shuddered knowing that they would soon confront their lost and damned brethren. The terrifying prospect of facing those corrupt men who had sold their souls to the Great Demon filled every man’s mind with indescribable horror and dread.
Then they attacked, around the walls bitter fighting ensured as the allied soldiers sallied forth. Men died in their hundreds. The attackers looked at the Devourers forces and their hearts went cold. Mingling with the daemons they could see mad-cultists and traitors. These were people they might have once fought alongside. The brave warriors that there was no way out. Here they must fight and die. This was a war where there could be know honourable peace. It was destroy or be destroyed.
What followed was a battle greater than any seen on Gaia, every loyal warrior knew that he was already dead; that there was no way he could survive. The soldiers fought with desperate ferocity of hopeless men.
The allied managed to break though the defences, Uriah found The Great Devourer and what happened next is the subject of legend. The two mightiest being in history clashed. They met blade to blade, power to power, mind to mind and tested sinew and psychic power to the ultimate. Uriah triumphed although he was terribly wounded in the process.
The psychic shock wave of the Daemon’s passing rippled outward. Daemons screamed, it was their leader, not their enemy one who was dead and they knew it. They were demoralised and dismayed, and they fled.
Hunter found Uriah’s broken body in the ruins of the Gateway. Through mangles lips Uriah whispered his dieing words.

Since that day he has hunted those who has joined the Great Devourer, their subsequent actions are irrelevant in his eyes, he believes that they all must be found and slain.
He is as enigmatic and solemn character. He appears as if from nowhere, bringing death and destruction with him, and then vanishes just as abruptly as he appeared.
He rarely speaks, and when he does his tones are clipped and his words are few. Few know his real name, and no one in living memory dare ask him what it might be. He seems to be cursed to wander the world for all time, never able to return home. His ever going crusade to capture those that turned to the daemon to justice, and would willing perform almost any act no matter how vile in order to capture or kill them.
