What Does That Make You?
Is there a word that takes the term "multitask" to a whole other level? If so, then that"s exactly what Vanessa Hudgens has been doing for the past year.
Not only did the 17-year-old star in the movie, High School Musical, which inspired a cult-like following, and not to mention a 1 selling soundtrack, but she also released her debut solo album, V, on September 26.
"I am crazy excited," Vanessa says. "It"s been a whirlwind".
To say the least. Barely having enough time to enjoy the tremendous success of High School Musical Vanessa signed a record deal with Hollywood Records --and recorded her album in just less than 2 months. Originally wanting to make a dance album, Vanessa opted for a mix (the "V" also stands for variety) of pop, rock, electronic and R&B. "The songs were already there," Vanessa says. "So I just went with the flow".
The songs spoke to Vanessa. Her first single, "Come Back to Me" deals with relationships and the one that got away. "Whatever Will Be" is about living in the now. "It"s the definition of me because that"s my motto," Vanessa explains.
"Say OK" touches on peer pressure, particularly from a guy whose intentions are questionable. The first time she heard "Afraid," she "fell in love with" the idea of being apprehensive of becoming involved in another relationship, especially if one has been hurt in the past. "Promise" reminds the listener that it"s okay (no, really okay) to be yourself and if someone doesn"t like it well then, too bad.
"I figured my first album I"ll leave to the professionals," Vanessa says of hopefully writing another album. "Once I know the process, I"ll get my creative juices flowing,"
It shouldn"t be too hard considering Vanessa is already a pro in the world of musical theater. Growing up in Salinas, California, with her parents and younger sister Stella, the young Vanessa trained in dance, piano and voice (opera to be specific). Her training led her to roles in Carousel, The King and I, Damn Yankees and The Wizard of Oz among many others. Vanessa also made her feature film debut in Thirteen, costarring Holly Hunter and Evan Rachel Wood. "It"s like magic when I get up on stage," Vanessa, who admires singers like Celine Dion and Christina Aguilera, says. "Once the song starts, I"m at home".
And home is definitely sweet. The triple threat will take the stage this fall while touring with the Cheetah Girls as well as her European press tour this year. She"s performed live on Good Morning America, Live With Regis and Kelly and premiered her "Come Back to Me" video on TRL.
But with all her success Vanessa remains grounded. Knowing her High School Musical success has left her with a slew of loyal fans, she takes the responsibility of being a role model seriously. "Kids look up to the wrong people these days, not knowing right from wrong. I am honored to know kids are looking up to me".
Vanessa isn"t looking for superstardom and for now is just enjoying everything that"s coming her way. "The day I die I will be happy because I am doing something I truly love doing," Vanessa says breathlessly. "I am truly blessed by God and I cannot give my parents enough credit for everything. I think a lot of success has to do with karma and luck".
Luck? Maybe. But with Vanessa, there"s definitely more to it.

Well, i had absolutely no sleep last night.. then I had to go to work at 12pm to 5pm =( it was like the longest 5 hours...ever. I was like a walking zombie! Even customers noticed. lol. I was even ignoring boyfriend calls and when I finally called him back.. he was like "WHY HAVENT YOU CALLED ME!?" -lmao- it was priceless. I don't really know why I couldn't sleep last night *shrug*
Yesterday I bumped into my old bestfriend, Ashley. It was really awkward and... it just, sucked. I had almost forgotten about her and then -- boom -- she pops up out of nowhere! It just reminded me how much I missed our friendship, but we're in totally different places right now. And our friends don't really get alone -- which is the main reason we grew apart. We're not even friends on Myspace anymore. Its crazy how things change.
But anyways, I`m about to go on fanforum for a little then eat dinner and get lotsssss of sleep. No work tomorrow. *yay-me* then I work Friday, Saturday Sunday............ but there's a payoff. VACATION!! for a whole 7 days!!!! Not going anywhere (obviously) but I`ll be able to enjoy all the High School Musical 2 stuff! *woot* Plus, I have to read the HSM2 novel! Wow, I can't believe its August already!!!! October is coming up! i love that time of year! and i`ll be back in New York fully soon! *yay* I am soooo over New Jersey. I miss my Yankees. Haven't been to a game in a couple of weeks! gahhhh.

hey this is what the highschool musical 2 movie is about. plz read this if you want to know th story or if you havnt seen it yet. this movie involves Gabriella Montez, Troy Bolton, Sharpay and Ryan Evans, Taylor Meckessie, and Chad. at first gabriella and troy were doing fine with their relationship and they were still together. then summer came... since sharpay has a HUGE crush on troy and is a memeber of the Lava Springs Country Club she has made a few plans to get troy to sing with her in the talent show.she has given a job to troy at the country club but then the whole entire east high student body got jobs at the same place. so then she tries to steal troy away from gabriella. they have been hanging out together for the past few weeks then sharpay invited troy for dinner with her family. troy now made a promise to her that they would sing in the talent show together.but in the end troy and gabriella get back together as boyfriend and girfriend. also troy and gabriella finally kiss

How I became where im at today
I began performing at an early age, appearing in musicals starting at age eight, by taking over a friend who couldn't go to the audition, and moved to Los Angeles after winning an audition for a commercial. I scored roles on shows such as Quintuplets, Cover Me, and Still Standing, then made my feature debut in Thirteen as Noel and appeared in the 2004 film Thunderbirds as Tintin. My television appearances include guest roles on Quintuplets, Still Standing, The Brothers Garcia and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, as Corrie, a classmate of Maddie and London. Hudgens also appeared on Drake & Josh, playing Drake's girlfriend, Rebecca.
My largest role among teenage audiences has been starring in the Disney Channel movie High School Musical, which premiered in January 2006; BBC News said that the film's success turned Hudgens into a "household name" in North America. Me and Zac had won "Best Chemistry" award at the Teen Choice Awards for our roles.
As a result of the film's popularity, I was offered a contract by Old Navy to appear in multiple commercials for the company. I had previously appeared in a swimwear commercial for the company in 2005. I also appeared in a Blockbuster commercial for no late fees, as the teenage daughter. Also, I is set to be the new face of Neutrogena in 2007, appearing in both film and print ads. Im also an endorser of the Ecko line. I participated in the Disney Channel Games 2006, which was filmed in April 2006 and aired two months later.
I finished filming High School Musical 2 on April 13, 2007, in St. George and Salt Lake City, Utah. In both films, I star as shy, intelligent Gabriella Montez. The film premiered on the Disney Channel on August 17, 2007.
The first High School Musical spawned a hit soundtrack, a worldwide concert tour, a show at Walt Disney World, and even a book series that helped Hudgens land in Forbes magazine's list of top-earning stars under 21." In the list, I was No. 7 with estimated earnings of $2 million.
After High School Musical, I was offered many roles: I was supposed to be in Prom Night, but turned I down to work on my music
