Except that even if the average user somehow got over 500k that is still very little considering how expensive items are. And when everyone starts buying prices will go up - then the gold they obtained won't be able to buy them that much more than they initially thought. Give it a few weeks and prices will settle back down.
Gaia cash is still necessary to buy many awesome items and there's also monthly collectibles. I seriously doubt this is something that Gaia needs to worry about. As long as they get the Sour Patch Kids Van event out of the rally or fixed as soon as possible I don't see any reason why they should go on to confiscate the gold obtained from this.
Also - I won the 100k on a few of my alternate accounts.

Millions of gold distributed around thousands and thousands of users will not create a big problem On the other hand - look at the lottery. Giving one user such a massive amount of gold can create BIG problems if he or she decides to manipulate the marketplace.
