A great place to advertise is in your profile bu the most common way to go about vending is through minishops in the forums. Go check them out and see how they're set up. Generally a lot of samples, rules and guidelines, waiting lists and slots...all that fun stuff.
I was thinking about doing that myself, but for now I like the contest route better (Picture Post and Art Contests).
