Beth was the only daughter of parents who were extremely proud of their fullblooded heritage. She was given a good deal of freedom in her life until she was fourteen. Her parents wanted to send her to an academy for the Gifted, an elite bording school. There would be no more raves, no more furtive cigarettes or beer. She would be sent far far away from her friends and everything else she was familiar with... this didn't appeal to her at all. "You've spent too much time with these human friends of yours. We've spoiled you, obviously. Now you have to stop muddying our name and act respectable." Without a choice in the matter, she tried to live it up with her friends before she was sent away. Unfortunately she and her boyfriend lived it up a bit too much, and she found herself pregnant. Her parents' wishes about what she should do now that she was pregnant with a half-blooded child were... unacceptable. Beth ran.

In the circumstances that followed, events that she doesn't talk about freely, she lost everything. In the custody of the state she found herself in a halfway home, on house arrest for crimes committed during her attempt to flee. The companionship of the other children there, as well as a handful of quiet years finishing her schooling during this time, left her calmer if not completely healed. When she was eighteen she was released from custody and entered the everyday world again. After finding Crosshaven, she has decided to try and make a life for herself here.
