If Christians are wrong and the atheist is right, then Christians are full of joy and peace until the moment they die, but will cease to exist. But if Christians are right and the atheist is wrong, they will endure the fiery pits of hell and everlasting separation from God. What is the the logically safer bet to make here, Christianity or Atheism? If Christians are wrong, they lose nothing, but if the atheist is wrong, they lose everything...
