The Story Of Marko
These sections have never been my strong suit, as I never really know what information people are looking for well enough that I can present a single concise description of myself So I'm going to try to hit some of the big ones, and if anybody has further questions, they can e-mail me from there.
I am a
student. Currently in my sixth year at a Big 10 university. I have a double-major in Japanese and Computer Science, although I'm potentially looking to drop the Japanese major to a minor and focus on computers. I have a large amount of debt, and I am in great need of graduating soon.
I am a
researcher. I work for the CompSci department attached to a NSF-funded project on electronic voting. Concordantly, I have a great interest both in computer security (an essential part of good voting equipment is verifying that they are secure), and the American voting system (which these machines look to serve.) Also in this vein,
I am a
hacker. No, I am not going to be trying to crack open your Gaia account to steal your money and "get sum lulz". I am a
real hacker, one of the many people in the world who hold an interest and knowledge base in programming, computer security, cryptography, and circumvention techniques. I have survived the larval stage and blossomed into a beautiful if young Jedi. I continue working to challenge and better myself. I wear my white hat with pride.
I am an
author. I have an account on FictionPress which I have been using lately to post my work. The address for that page is www.fictionpress.com/~(the same username I have here). I also do a great deal of reading when I have the chance, although school and work tend to put a cramp on that.
I am a
nerd. I read a lot of books. I play a lot of video games. I have an encyclopedic knowledge of completely random and unimportant facts. I watch Star Trek. I use Linux. Fear my geekdom.
That is all. Anything else? Send a message.

Even the False Things Are True
This journal will most likely be filled with fiction; various things that I feel the need to write, as I have no other blog specifically for my literary pursuits. Please feel free to comment or criticize, as it is only through review that I learn my
