I still can't believe that Mark Hamill did Luke Skwalker too.

He's going to be awesome in Arkham Asylum!

FINALLY! Someone who knows the old Joker and not just the new one!!!!

I got tired of people, upon seeing my avatar, quoting the new joker, "why so serious?"

I've always prefered the old Joker over the new one, even if he is a bit more believable, he still doesn't capture the Joker's personality. He may be Joker, but he'll never be THE Joker.

I guess only time will ever be able to answer these fears...

But I do know pretty much everyone who's seen the raw cut was very impressed, including Kevin Smith. Then again, the raw cut is over 3 hours long and WB is pushing for an hour and a half.

Very happy to have met a legitimate Watchmen fan. I must go for now, add me if you wish.

Until next time, night.

I don't mind them removing the squid as much as I mind them changing the entire purpose of the squid. Yes, I understand that a movie must be altered enough to accommodate the average movie goer and that'll hurt the loyalty to the source, but some things are unnecessary.

Remove the squid itself? Perfectly fine. Some people just won't cope with that. But make it SOMETHING alien, SOMETHING out of this world that we ourselves could NEVER be responsible for. If they had to frame Jon, make it a false secondary 'Jon', another ethereal being with godly powers.

As long as the event that takes place is something... not of this world... the entire thing would be okay. But... missiles defeat the entire purpose and are the LAST thing Ozy would have used in the comic.

If they really wanted to go cliche just go with a giant lizard. Americans love their giant lizards in New York. *Rolls eyes*

The problem is I don't think Zack Snyder understands the comics he makes into movies. He knows he LIKES them, and knows they're special, but doesn't know WHY. He said something about hating to have to change the ending, but he honestly didn't have to in the first place to THAT degree. If he understood Watchmen, he'd know he can't go from the GN's ending to a random doomsday device that frames Jon. The island isn't even in the movie, in fact. Instead, Ozy simply says the Comedian 'found out' about his plan, he didn't explain how.

For some reason they've also made Bubastas silver instead of red. I'm really not getting that one...

Some stop-motion is very good for this sort of thing, and I think all comic movies actually need it if anything. But Snyder has a habit of doing way too much of it. I think he saw the Matrix too many times and liked it more than he should have.

I'm also scared that if they release a fourth Watchmen trailer it'll give away Ozy's true alliance. It's already come dangerously close with the silhouette in Trailer3 at the Comedian death scene. Considering how big of a spoiler it is that he's the bad guy... eesh.

My big problem is the fact that... not only is the guy playing Ozy NOT likable... but he's scrawny. In the GN Ozy takes on Ror and Nite Owl... EASILY. This guy could NEVER do that...

As for Jon... I actually love how they've done him. He's the one character that has impressed me so far. The voice is exactly what I imagined because he DID fit in at least mildly. Some people accepted and loved him such as Laurie. If he looked that way AND had a big, booming voice it might be too much. I always imagined him having a very... gentle, apathetic voice that sort of echoed his expansive yet utterly lost personality.

The uncensored view of him scares me at the same time, though, mostly because people aren't mature. If even TWO teenage males are in the theatre when I go see it the entire experience will be ruined because of chuckling and giggling constantly. I love the faithfulness in the sense of his exposure, but I'm not looking forward to immaturity surrounding me.

V for Vendetta was a very unfaithful adaptation but an excellent film on its own, which is a big reason I feel this will do the same. Another fear I have on the film is, being Zack Snyder... and judging by the trailers... I'm really scared the entire movie is going to be just special effects and slow-motion. Some special effects are necessary for Watchmen but it looks like he just went 300 on us again.

Rorschach's voice is perfectly summed up by what you said, but you were also right about the fitting his character thing to a degree. The difference is, in the comic he WAS a fairly decent sized guy and his voice was likely fairly deep. They always portrayed him, with or without the mask, as a bad-a** and that's just not really coming out of him in this.

It seems like the movie actually accomplished something that Alan Moore tried and FAILED in the graphic novel. Rorschach was actually intended to be COMPLETELY unlikable in the comic, and he turned out to be the most loved character in the entire thing. I'm glad he messed up because Rorschach being changed at all might have taken away from the comic. Thing is, the movie's Rorschach... kind of looks like he'll be what Alan Moore was trying for; impossible to like.

It's 50-50 right now. The entire first trailer makes Rorschach look excellent. The second trailer pretty much just repeats the first's footage. The THIRD traielr, however, leaves me unimpressed and disliking of him.

I firmly believe it will be an excellent comic book film but a poor and unfaithful adaptation.

A few of the things standing out as really poor choices/occurrences for me are...

1. Ozymandias. Everything about him's pretty bad. He's far too young, far too small (build and height), and his costume is terrible. It's dark and drab, very modern. The entire PURPOSE to his costume was that it was Egyptian and bright. This guy they cast is also kind of on the ugly side, and Ozy was meant to be pretty attractive. He was meant to be all around likable. I don't think the people doing the movie got that...

2. Rorschach was cast horribly. A LOT of people are not only okay with this actor, but impressed by him. I think his voice is... decent for the character, but certainly not what I imagined. Rorschach is also of DECENT height even without the lifters, and he's got a good build. This guy doesn't have the build, the voice, and DEFINITELY not the face.

3. The Comedian's scar was moved because the Joker had a sneer scar and it would have been repetitive I guess. The Comedian's nose also isn't broken, which I always felt was pretty important in the definition of his character. This guy isn't terrible as the Comedian but he's definitely not as butch and 'a**-holish' as he should have been. He also rarely wears his face-mask, which... I guess the movie will have a reason for that?

4. Silk Spectre's actress isn't a good actress. I know this because she's a supporting role in one of my favorite movies and, while pretty, her talent just isn't there. The costume change is also an odd choice. Why'd they move it from lingerie-like underwear of see-through yellow and black lace to a spandex black/yellow X-Men dominatrix-type thing?

I also have a complaint about the newest trailer. It's not a bad trailer it's just... the first one was so impressive. It didn't give away ANYTHING, even the basic plot and that was great because anyone who HADN'T read the GN wouldn't know what to expect. That's how Watchmen needs to be approached. The newest trailer not only straight out admits the Comedian is killed (and how he is), but that the story is about Rorschach trying to investigate his death and that there may be a masked vigilante killer out there. It just gives away too much and that defeats the entire purpose of the first one.
