Flushed cheeks reflect the copper glow
of the high streetlights during the cold winter night.
Ashen mixed emerald eyes seem to show-

I didn't even cry;
Not a single droplet of
salty liquid burned
the rim of my eyelids.
Like drops accumulating
on a window; that transparent
mirror, and I didn't even cry...

like a sprinkler spewing needles.

Would soak me in the abyss of regret;
charcoal locks may become matted to my forehead,

scolded me for being so content during your dismissal.
You raced off on that fiery red escape from hell.
You departed without a last glance,

MUSIC OF THE NIGHT

Papier Mache Heart

I made this papier mâché heart for you;
It is fragile and easily ripped,
but it is glued together by your soft promises.
It is dried and hardened by your gentle caress and lulling vocals
as you whisper softly to me.
Will you not accept it?

You ignited my papery organ to fire
and then stifled it out with liquid apologies.
These turned to salty streams on my flushed cheeks
as you enveloped me into your arms.
Will you bruise it again?

You hacked it into fragments
with your razor sharp words.
You then taped the shreds back together
with your supple, pink lips
as you brushed a lock of my hair behind my ear.
Will you destroy it again?

You threw my papier mâché heart into the trash
and closed the lid with a fierce slam.
You did not retrieve me for several days.
When the lid was opened, I asked,
"Oh, will you accept my paper heart, my love?"
Will you not accept it?

Oh,
How bitterly naïve.

Hello. I just started this whole Gaia thing recently, but I'd have to say that it's consuming a noticeable amount of my time. While I may not be on as much as my new online companions may prefer, I do check this... site every day. I look forward to finding new friendships or just having a decent conversation with someone.
