My name is Simon. Sorry if you weren't expecting anything more special than that. Believe it or not, I'm not as plain as I may sound -- I'm the commander of Kamina City, and the leader of the Gurren-dan.
I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for Kamina, my aniki. He's gone now... but now, I realize that losing him was the first step to becoming a real man. I'll drill that hole to heaven someday, and pierce it in his name! I'll save the innocent people trapped underground, the people who's never seen the pleasure of the morning sunrise or the glistening moon...

My past..
"Simon is a fourteen year old digger from Jiiha village. Although he is initially looked down because of it, Simon excels at drilling the earth, while the drill itself quickly becomes his trademark symbol. One day he finds a mysterious drill-shaped item, which is later revealed to be the key for a head-shaped robot he also finds buried in the soil. With the help of the robot, Kamina, and Yoko, he fights off a Gunmen who broke into the village. While finishing the Gunmen off with a drill-like attack, they reach the surface world."

Kamina
Aniki was my closest friend growing up. He was my real inspiration, and I'll never forget him. He was the founder of the Gurren-dan, and the person who kicked me into shape. Aniki will always be my #1, no matter what.
Yoko
Yoko is the person who helped free me and Aniki from Jiiha village. Even though she's about my age, when we first met, she was still the most rational of us (even though she's really scary when she's angry). She has really big... uhhh... *blush*
When I was younger, I had a crush on her. But the truth is, she was in love with Aniki.
But who wouldn't be?
Nia
It's a funny way to describe how me and Nia met. To be honest, I found her in a capsule at a dump... little did I know that she was the daughter of Lord Genome, and become the love of my life. She's sweet, beautiful, and air-headed. I'm going to propose to her someday.
Rossiu
Rossiu was from the underground city of Adai, where they had worshipped Ganmen as Gods. He watched over Gimmy and Darry, and when they were forced to leave the village, he came along; thus becoming a new member of the Gurren-dan.
After the war with Genome, he became my second-in-command. He always tries to get me to act more serious about my duties and such, but I can't help it if I'd rather nap instead of sign papers. How boring is that?
Viral
I'm not really sure if I could really consider Viral as a friend. He used to be part of the Beastmen afterall, our old enemy (Aniki referred to him as a '******** furry'). After an encounter with him at prison, we finally decide to put aside our differences and work together to save the world -- no, the universe.
He's currenly the official pilot of the Gurren, and my partner. He may have screwed us over in the past, but I have faith in him. Afterall, we both just want peace, right?
