...
let me tell you a story...once long ago, life was wonderful. everything was just amazing, day in and day out. until one day it went awry.
a young girl sits in the middle of the field, hunched over, knees drawn up to her chin, and looking down at her feet. a tear rolls slowly down her cheek and hangs, suspended in the night air.
dropping
dropping
crash
it falls to the forest floor, and the innocent tendrils of grass embrace it, enfold it, sucks it into the bowels of the earth. a wind kicks up, swirling the girl's long auburn curls around her. faster and faster the zephyr wind swirls. it hangs, suspended above the child, then crashes down and shatters in two. retreating to different sides of the forest clearing, one takes on a black shade, with shimmering flecks of crimson, the other a silvery white light, with blue sparkling throughout it.
the collumns of wind touch the ground, and take the shape of wolves.
both walk behind her and meet, nose to nose they join, melding into one being.
a large coffee brown wolf walks slowly up to the girl, its large head held high as it strides over to her. in the fading moonlight, the wolfs fur shimmers as if with an inner light. the points of her muzzle, all four paws and the tip of his tail also seemed to have been dipped in the midnight hue of pitch blackness.
the girl turns, and seeing the animal, she smiles. she tentatively reaches out and touches the animals muzzle. both close their eyes. the wind picks up again and a single bolt of lightning strikes. the girl and the wolf open their eyes, and they both glow blue green in the moonlight. merged forever, they take a pact to always protect those closest to them.
and that is were i stand today.
