A seventeen year old girl walked across a green field, looking for an arena to battle in. Until now she had battled only on the dirt arenas and wondered if fighting on a grass one would be any different. A raichu clung to her right shoulder, intent on her next battle.
Eventually Spinel found it, Emi jumping off her shoulder an running to get in place for battle. She watched Twiggy battle last night and was ready for it to be her turn, and she was looking forward to her third win, hopefully not her second loss.

A Skitty ran across the short grass; her tiny paws barely touching the ground before she was pushing off again. She wasn't really going anywhere, though; she was bounding in circles around her trainer. Falcon finally sighed and scooped up Kiliina. "If you don't calm down, you'll be exhausted before you get there." But a rare smile hovered around her mouth. Kiliina pawed at her nose, before pawing at the face of the sleeping dragon sprawled across Falcon's strong shoulders. "Stop that." She held the Skitty out of paw's reach of her Dragonair, Cale. "Don't antagonise him, you." She tickled the Skitty's belly with her thumb; and Kiliina squirmed and let out a mewling giggle. She held her in her arms as she entered the arena, where her opponent waited. Her brief time with her Pokemon combined with fighting alongside them had started to change her; and she was no longer as cold and suspicious of other people as she had been. Upon seeing her opponent, a Raichu stood in front of a trainer, she shrugged; it seemed they were jumping straight into battle. She lightly tickled behind Kiliina's ears, whilst giving her a pep talk. "Remember, the outcome is nothing; if we go all out, and we give all we've got, we're the winners. So do your best." Kiliina mewled at her in agreement; before Falcon placed the kitten on the floor. "Okay Kiliina, let's start! Run in there and do a Tackle!" The Skitty lowered herself to the ground to lower air resistance, before leaping at the Raichu in attack. (Dice Roll) In her excitement, Kiliina's attack was wild; and her leap inaccurate. Falcon cringed; but called out, "It's okay! Just do your best!" 1 Damage! 1 * 16 / 14 = 1 HP left: 30/30

(-so excited- I get to fight with raichu! XD)

"Alright Emi, remember what you've learned from your previous battles and watching the others battle. Doesn't matter if you win, as long as you do your best." Her trainer said as she watched her opponent put the skitty on the ground. How cute! She thought, resisting the urge to say it now and deciding to wait after the battle was over.
Spinel didn't even have to say anything, the raichu dodged the tackle with ease but was nicked on her tail as she sidestepped and turned, her beady black eyes narrowing and brows furrowing in concentration. It might not matter to Spinel whether they won or lost, but she played to win, and she intended to.
"Alright Emi, use iron tail!" Her trainer instructed, watching carefully the actions of both pokemon. Except for the caterpie, this skitty must have been the smallest thing they've battled so far, they'd beeen fighting geodudes, houndours, and meditites. But now the size field was pretty even. Size didn't matter anyways, Emi managed to beat both houndours with relative ease.
The raichu ran straight for the skitty, the light from the sun reflecting off her tail as it was being coated in iron. When close enough to Kiliina, she jumped into the air, into a series of rapid somersaults for momentum and added force behind the blow she intended to bring down on the skitty's head.

Falcon Samilka "Kiliina, avoid that if you can!" Falcon called out, her heart racing. Kiliina went to move out of the way; but the heavy tail hit her hard in the side, and the small feline was knocked, hard, into the grass. Falcon's fist was at her throat as she watched Kiliina pull herself back onto her feet. She was winded; her sides heaving, but never for one minute did she back down. She wouldn't allow herself. "Okay, Kiliina! Use Iron Tail right back!" Kiliina stiffened her entire tail; and swung the large, heavy limb by throwing her entire body into a turn. (Dice Roll) But Kiliina was still winded, and her attack had very little force behind it. 1 Damage! 1 * 16 / 14 = 1 HP left: 22/30 ((Forgot the dice... Jeez, my Skitty-luck in none-existant... xD; ))

Hm, another iron tail attack. Until now no one had ever used it against her, but she knew how the attack worked and was able to dodge it with minimal damage, her tail once again taking the little damage. She still had to get used to its new length, which is why it always seemed to get hit.
"You're doing great Emi, that last attack was powerful! Now, use volt tackle and send that skitty flying!" Spinel had to admit it was a little hard to battle the skitty, it was so cute, and she hoped her trainer wouldn't have any hard feelings from the outcome of the battle, both pokemon were sure to get beaten up pretty badly.
"Rai!" She replied to her trainer, electricity popping out of her yellow cheeks and encasing her body as she ran pelter-skelter towards the skitty, hoping that if Kiliina tried to dodge she would have enough time to turn and do some damage.

Falcon Samilka "Stand your ground until the last minute, Kiliina!" Falcon could see that they were about as fast as each other; and her Pokemon couldn't outrun the Raichu. Kiliina crouched, her muscles tensed; still regaining her breath. As the Raichu was about to send her flying, Kiliina leaped to one side; a little later than she had anticipated, the Skitty's back end was shocked and battered. She let out a mewling cry as she landed on her front paws; but her hind quarters crashed to the ground. Falcon bit her lip. She didn't want to risk Kiliina attacking the Raichu whilst it was still so highly charged; but she didn't know what else she could do. Watching Kiliina climb to her paws, Falcon made a decision. "Kiliina, you're doing great! Now- Return!" (Dice Roll) But Kiliina shared the same concern as her trainer; and she was so cautious in her rushing attack that Falcon could see, it would do little damage. She narrowed her eyes and yelled. "I have faith in you, Kiliina!" 2 Damage! 2 * 16 / 14 = 2 HP left: 17/30 (( Keep forgetting the dice; maybe that's why they're rolling so low? ))

Return? What move was that? Certainly a move both the raichu and her trainer had yet to face, so neither of them quite new what to do. Emi quickly jumped out of the way, her tail taking more damage than it had been, though still less, as she dodged and rounded on the skitty.
"Great job. Attack with zap cannon!"
The raichu concentrated on the skitty, electricity shooting out of her yellow cheeks and coming together in front of her to form a large ball solely of electricity. When she found it big enough, the electric current feeding the ball stopped and she spinned around, hitting it forcefully with her tail. Emi had never done it that way before, and perhaps now was a bad time to try.

Kiliina tried to dodge the flying ball of electricity; once again, it caught her back end. The nerves remembered the feeling of electricity running through them; and instantly, as she tried to land, her back legs gave out. Kiliina started panting; and Falcon realised just how tired her tiny Pokemon was. She closed her eyes as Kiliina pulled herself back onto her paws. She spoke in a low voice; so the other trainer couldn't hear. "Kiliina. I believe in you." She opened her eyes a little; their ruby gaze alighting on the small feline. "I don't know if we'll win this- but I believe in you to give it your best." Kiliina stood a little taller; despite her obvious exhaustion, and turned back to the Raichu; a renewed steel in her gaze. "Now, let's do it again- go, Kiliina! Return!" Falcon yelled; passion and joy and pride in her voice. Kiliina felt it fill her from within; she would do this. She would do her best. She rushed at the Raichu; trying to push her lagging muscles harder. (Dice Roll) The tired kitten threw what little strength she had behind the attack; knowing it wouldn't do much. But she was still trying hard for her trainer- and that was more important than winning. 3 Damage! 3 * 16 / 14 = 3 HP left: 12/30 (( Gaia dice hate me. ;_; ))

Raichu watched carefully as they repeated their attack, the skitty running closer and seeming to tire relatively quickly compared to her. Spinel had ordered to dodge and counter with another iron tail. However ready as she was to dodge she waited a little too long and was grazed on the hindquarters when leaping out of the way, spinning pretty fast as he tail gave off a white light when the iron encased it, swinging it around at the skitty's face as hard and accurate as she could. Emi felt close to winning the battle, but she had learned from watching other fights that battles can sometimes turn in favor to your opponent and leave you in the dust, whether it was because you just weren't good enough or because you just didn't have your head in the fight. For Spinel, winning or losing wasn't important, though like every trainer she wanted to win. Emi, on the other hand, wanted to win every battle and showed it fiercely with her intent firey gaze, watching the battle very carefully at all times.

Kiliina yelped as the tail smashed into her face. She thudded into the ground in pain; and Falcon stepped forwards before restraining herself. Kiliina's yelp of agony tore at her heart; but she knew the Skitty would be angry if she was denied the chance to fight with her all and give it her best because Falcon got them disqualified. So she stood on the side lines and called out to her Skitty. "You're doing great; you're doing your best, and I couldn't ask for more! Come on, Kiliina! Tackle!" Kiliina raised her head. Swelling from the facial blow was partly restricting her vision; but she knew what she had to do. She pulled herself to her feet, ignoring her throbbing her head. She had not done her best! Kiliina started towards the Raichu. She had not given her all! She started to run. And as she launched herself towards the Raichu, she knew she would never give up until she had. Her opponent may have been weakened a good deal, but this next attack came at her faster than she could recover from using her iron tail. As she turned to look at the skitty she saw that she was so close and tackling her, hitting her firmly in the gut and sending the light-weighted pokemon backwards and skidding into the grass a foot or two. Almost immediately she recovered from the blow, annoyed now that she hadn't recovered from her attack fast enough and left her vulnerable to attack. That had been the skitty's strongest one yet, but Emi wouldn't let that bother her, no, not at all.
Spinel felt bad for the skitty, watching her land with her back end crashing to the ground a couple times and letting out mewling cries of pain whenever Emi hit, she almost didn't want to battle anymore because of it. The trainer shook her head firmly, Emi would be pissed for calling off the battle because she felt bad for the opponents pokemon. Actually, she'd be pretty angry for calling off the battle no matter what. "Attack with shockwave Emi! Show them what you're made of!"
The raichu's cheeks began to glow and crackle from the electricty that formed, rising up into what could be described as a wave of white, yellow and blue electricity before it was pushed across the field. If you didn't know any better you'd think it was a real wave by the way it moved.

Falcon Samilka Falcon bit her lip; she couldn't see any way for Kiliina to avoid the wave. But the little Skitty wasn't giving up; and she ran back a few paces; before running full-pelt towards the wave. The exhausted feline launched herself as she met the wave; leaping into the air, sparks of electricity rose up and ran through her, but she missed the worst of it- had she not, it would surely have been her out of the fight. Falcon realised her hands were over her mouth; and pulled them down. She knew it was over; and so did Kiliina. But they would go down like a blazing star. It was their way; they would never give up. "Kiliina! Iron Tail!" The tiny Pokemon had landed next to Raichu; exhausted and panting, she looked as though a strong breeze would finish her off. Regardless, Kiliina hardened her tail and spun her entire body; using the momentum to swing the tail at the Raichu. (Dice Roll) But she was too tired to do much damage at all. Still; she was giving all she had. That was what mattered. 1 Damage! 1 * 16 / 14 = 1 HP left: 2/30 ((Back to my old friends, the ones. ))
