I wouldn't worry about the PS2 going anywhere soon. The PS1 stayed around for a good 2 or 3 years after the PS2 was launched. Plus Sony knows that most people can't afford the PS3 yet (I'm a Sony stockholder... really).

PS3 is an attractive system but at a price only a hard core gamer would pay for right now. Perhaps the people who own home theater systems with HDTV would get it too since PS3 is still one of the cheapest Blue Ray DVD players on the market. Blue Ray discs are outselling the rival HD DVDs from Toshiba by 3 to 1 right now so it looks like Sony will win this format war (unlike their Betamax vs VHS in the old days).

Even as a Sony stockholder though I still can't afford it so I'll probably end up with a Wii first.

I REALLY like the Wii.
I havnt gotten to play the PS3 yet, but from what I've seen, it does seem a littel pointless.
So far as I can tell, the main thing with it is the updated graphics and the blue ray discs.

Wii is really doing well, but all the same, I find their taking quite a while getting games out.. or maybe it's just me.

I meen, all the fuss for the Wii lies in Twighlight Princess and the new Smash Bros. game.. Both seem like fun, but for the PS2, a lot of friends where going on about like 10-15 different games (and still are).

Either way, I still want one, tho.. I meen.. c'mon.. sonic and snake in smash bros? How COULDN'T you want that?
