After their last battle things had gone well. Despite Lore having a rather grumpy attitude to start with, Ruri was surprised to find that he didn’t actually mind the idea of having her as his friend.
So now that he trusted her a bit more Ruri had come to the conclusion that it was time to give battling another shot. And they wouldn’t loose this time! Ruri refused to even think of that as an option, optimism was the key after all.
In a flash of red light Lore appeared on the battlefield. He was seated cross-legged, his eyes closed. The Meditite didn’t even bother looking at his opponent, simply sat and waited for a command.
“Confusion!”
The area around Lore glowed purple as he pushed with his mind.

A young girl of seventeen walked onto the Battlegrounds with confidence. Normally a Pikachu with a big pink bow would be with her, but she was resting in her pokeball after her last battle. She reached for her belt and plucked the greatball, pressing the button that enlarged it as she pulled back to throw it. "Come on Brick! pull out another victory!"
The ball hit the ground and in a flash of white light a Geodude appeared. He was hardy, so he wouldn't take damage very lightly. Almost as soon as he was released from his pokeball a psychic wave hit him hard, leaving him temporarily confused.
"Brick! Snap out of it and use Focus Punch!" Spinel called, hoping he wouldn't hurt himself.
He shook his head and pulled back his glowing right hand, charging at the Meditite and thrusting it forward when he was in close range.

“Yes!” They’d gotten in a good strike right off the bat! Ruri waved around a little flag with the word ‘GO’ in big bold letters while jumping around excitedly. “Try using your mind to deflect the blow Lore!”
Hearing his trainer’s call Lore opened his eyes slightly while focusing his mind powers. But the heavy nature of the enemy Geodude made it nearly impossible to stop the oncoming punch. The rock fist hit his shoulder a painful blow. The Meditite let out a grunt of pain.
“Use Brick Break Lore!”
Lore rallied himself and attacked with his own fist, punching out as hard as he could.

Brick's attack hit, but he wasn't satisfied with it, it did little damage to his opponant and left him in range of the Meditite's Brick Break. Attempting to dodge the attack he dove to the side, but was struck in his own left shoulder and he closed his eyes. It hurt, but he could take it and ignore it.
"It's alright Brick! Use your own Brick Break!"
Opening his eyes he went back, his arm pulled back and hand straight and firm, turned on it's side as he attempted to bring it down on Lore.

“Good work Lore.” Ruri called out encouragement to her pokemon, who was looking rather satisfied at how his attack had hit… even if his hand did hurt a bit.
What, that Geodude was copying his attack?! Lore huffed in annoyance and was so preoccupied by his thoughts that he forgot to dodge until the last minute. Luckily he had enough speed to miss getting knocked out in one shot.
As the attack hit on the shoulder again Lore bit back a cry of pain.
“Psybeam him!”
Lore gave a small grin as he concentrated and collected his energy. He then blasted that energy out in a multi-coloured beam right at Brick.

Damn, that was another crappy hit. He was beginning to get dissapointed with himself and he realized how much training he still had to do if he wanted to become stronger. He tried to get away from the psybeam but was just too slow. Had the previous battle left him weaker? Did he need a longer rest period? The psybeam struck him dead on and he was repelled some feet away.
"Come on Brick get up and show them what you're made of!" Spinel shouted, hoping this battle wouldn't be so short lived. "Use Earthaquake!"
Brick rose into the air before plummeting down, back down to earth and slamming against the ground. The result was the shaking and quaking of the ground as it split and cracked in places, knocking his trainer over.

Ruri grinned wildly, but otherwise restrained herself as Lore’s attack hit dead on and sent the Geodude flying. That had been awesome. Her Pokemon turned and gave her a smug look, to which she replied with a cheeky wink. They’d come a long way in only a few days.
Uh-oh. Earthquake was killer attack. “Try and dodge it!” Ruri yelled as the ground began to rumble beneath her feet, nearly knocking her over.
Lore’s eyes widened slightly but he did his best to move away from the cracks appearing in the ground. He was panting by the time everything stopped moving, but at least he had taken minimal damage.
“Great! Use another Confusion!”
Again he glowed purple as he sent the attack out to the enemy.

Something was definately wrong, Brick and Spinel were both thinking it. Why were his attacks so weak today? He did well the last time he battled. Then again, he was fighting a Caterpie last time....
Once again he couldn't get away from the confusion attack and took it head on. This time it was more difficult getting over it than it was the last couple times. Now he was mad. Not mad at Spinel, a little and Lore, but mostly at himself. With a roar he charged at the Meditite as Spinel commanded him to use Stone Edge. The outsides of his rock arms flattened into edges and he lashed out, trying to slash Lore across the face.

"Good going!"
Right now Ruri was feeling what she assumed a mother would feel when her favourite child came home with a report card full of A’s. She was so proud of her darling Meditite.
Lore saw the Geodude coming at him with an angry, almost last ditch attack. But he was ready for it. He let out a calming breath, using his psychic abilities to support his body as he pushed himself out of the path of the attack.
He hadn’t counted on some of the flying rocks though. They still managed to scrape painfully past his face. It didn’t matter; Brick was in perfect range now for another Psybeam. Ruri seemed to be thinking the same thing.
“Try and finish him with another Psybeam!”
Lore was ready. Within seconds the multi-coloured beam shot out at Brick.

Spinel knew it was the end, she was only dissapointed that it had happened so fast.
Had he not been preparing for another attack Brick would have purposefully hurt himself for being so...weak this battle. He put his arms up in an attempt to cut down the power of the psybeam, and it worked: it was much less powerful than the Meditites previous attacks. However, it was still powerful enough to send him falling out of the air and crashing to the ground with the tall tale sign of fainting, the swirls in his eyes.
"Brick!" Spinel shouted as she looked at her felled Geodude. This wasn't her first loss, and it wouldn't be the last, so she might as well learn from it. Don't use close range moves on a psychic type Pokemon. "You did a good job, but we still have a lot of training to do." She said as the red light from the greatball in her hand shot out and Brick returned. Spinel looked at the other trainer and gave a smile, crossing the field to congradulate her. "You battled superbly, we didn't stand a chance." She said, looking at the Meditite, then her trainer. "My name's Spinel," she held out a hand to shake, "incase you ever want to battle again."

“We won!”
Lore smiled smugly while sitting back on the earthquake ruined training field, taking a second to rest. But he was soon scooped up by an overly energetic Ruri and hugged against her chest. “We did it! Our first win! And you did great too!”
The Meditite endured the hug, knowing there wasn’t much chance of him getting out of it. Soon Ruri loosened her hold, allowing Lore to float to the ground as the other trainer approached.
Ruri smiled happily as she shook Spinel’s hand. “That was a really great battle. Your Geodude gave it a really good shot. I thought he was pretty impressive. Oh, and my name’s Ruri. We have to battle again sometime.”
