I thought I'd offer up another one of my "what's your favourite" themed threads. This one is about your favourite Tolkien universe (ie Middle Earth, Valinor, Numenor, etc.) historical event.

It can be from any age and time.

Feel free to post a brief synopsis of the event, to enlighten the rest of us if your topic isn't as well known. You can have more than one favourite event, but you have to make a new post of each one.

The destruction of the One Ring, of course.

There were other Great Moments, obviously, but most of them are terrible and depressing.

This the only one where epic, triumphant, floaty, domokun domokun domokun music comes to mind when I think of it.

Edit; Feanor ranting at all the Valar when he refuses to give up the silmarils also comes to mind.

I personally find the events of Akallabêth to be most fascinating. The sheer magnitude of the ending is impressive; the world becomes spherical!

And might I add, Menegil, that if you plan to attack me, I would offer you this advice: it is unwise to meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger.

And BTW, Gwaihir's got my back, just in case you decide to try anything.

Favourite event...

I can tell you my most hated. When Turin kills Beleg. I still cry over that one.

Favourite... I guess is the sound of the bells on Asfaloth...

Feanor slamming his door in Morgoth's face is infinitely better than anything else. Ever.

Let's see, what else. Fingon's rescue of Maedhros, Finrod's discovery of Men, Curufin's takeover of Nargothrond (HOT oratory), and Finrod's battle with Thauron.

You can see who I like. ninja
