This was a thread in the old guild, if I remember right wasnt this started by Cameo? Anyways someone gives a scenario and you respond. I'll give the first scenario. Someone responds and then gives another scenario. I think thats the way it went. Cam, correct me if I'm wrong. Example: You are alone in your house, or everyone is asleep but you. It is getting late, and you are about ready to go to bed. Suddenly you hear footsteps. No one is supposed to be there but you. You turn around and *insert vampire of your choice* is standing right behind you. What do you do?

Well, we probably wouldn't hear the footsteps, would we? sweatdrop Let's say for me it's Louis, because he's the most human and most likely to be heard...
I gasp, then stare. At first, I would most likely assume he's a ghost and try to touch him.(I want to try and touch a ghost, it's one of my lifelong ambitions..I know it's stupid, stfup) I don't think he would mind, so I would rest my hand on his face. When I realise he isn't a ghost, I would stare some more, then ask,"Who, or what, are you?" then, I might get an answer. But in the end, I die. I know it would be quick though. Louis wouldn't want his victim to suffer.
...Wow, that's depressing.
Scenario: You are approached by the Devil, who wants you to serve him. He offers to take you on a tour of heaven and hell. What do you do?

Take the tour, and bring plenty of marshmallows for Hell. As for serving, since I don't believe in either of them, I'd have to say nope.
Scenario: You're offered a chance to know what will happen to you in later life. Do you accept?

Yes, but maybe that would ruin dreaming since I know my fate is sealed. On the other hand, it would make me worry less, if I was sucessful I would know. You know these hypothetical questions are supposed to be VC related yeah? Anyway, it would be tempting, and nothing is set in stone you know, the future changes every day. I might change my life, work harder, not do this or that based on the future so it could be good.
For kicks I'll answer the other ones.
1) Its kind of vain, but I realize my first thought would be if I looked good. Was my hair done, am I wearing actual clothes, are these clothes flattering or just a tee shirt that I only where around the house, am I wearing make up. Then I would realize that even though this guy is hot, there is still a stranger in my house. At which point I would stand and stare, then feel afraid. I wouldn't want to turn my back because I wouldn't want to be grabbed from behind, but I wouldn't be screaming just yet, though my leg would move backwards into a better fighting stance. My fists aren't raised but I'm in a better position.
"Who are you? Why are you in my house, and to know if our here to rob the place, just ignore me, I won't try anything ,just don't take my computer, I'm a writer my work is on there, worthless to you priceless to me. Oh and if your like a serial killer, or a rapist, I have aids so don't try that with me ok, and um don't kill me," I don't have aids but that's what I will tell anyone who might rape me. I'm probably speaking to fast to really be understood, I tend to speak to fast, English is such a slow language, I'm babbling and frightened. While in my head thinking the Lord's prayer and the hail marry and any other prayer I remember, asking Jesus, God, angels and saints to help me, even tough I'm not that much of a catholic.
I think at this point he would raise a hand or say something to stop me rambling. Probably pointing out obvious that e is too well dressed to need to rob me, to good looking to need to rape me as many people would be willing. At this I would think well I certainly wouldn't be willing, no matter how gorgeous you are. He would continue to speak despite my thoughts which he could probably read from the expression on my face as well as by his nature. Though perhaps my pride in my honor would be some what amusing.
Then he would answer my question as to why he was there. Because I invited him practically, wanted him there. At my look at confusion he would clarify. That I think of vampires as if trying to call them, that I was beseeching a vampire to come like a prayer, like calling on an angel or saint.
"I guess that's a sin," I would mumble, then worry that I would be punished for it, in some divine karma and be killed. He hadn't after all denied the serial killer comment.
He might point out, why would I deny the truth, most vampires do kill on a regular basis. He might smile so that his fangs would show. I would reach p and cross myself, and this might get a laugh, he might question if I really thought that would do any good. "it makes me feel better," I would say, "so it must do some good, it might not stop you if you wanted to hurt me, but then again there might be a miracle, either way." I would shrug, I believe in God. I would tell myself that no matter what happened it would be ok, becuase those who believe in Christ will live forever so I didn't fear death.
He might comment that its strange I would call on a demon and be so religious, and might question if really wasn't afraid. I would tell him I am, becuase there is so much I haven't done yet. Seen Paris, made love, published a book, preformed a song I'd written, so many things I wanted to do, see, books I wanted to read, things I wanted to learn.
He might comment its odd I list books and learning in my regrets. I would reply, "if I live a long life, a hundred years, I wouldn't have time to learn all I want, to master all the languages I want to read things in. Latin alone I studied for years and still can't read well enough, and Roman writings alone it might take a lifetime to read everything, and I want to learn French and read all the works of that language, then other area's of study, history, art. I know hardly anything about Eastern humanities, as for Western, I know a little, but I haven't even read all the works of Shakespeare or seen any preformed." I would stop yourself and realize I'm babbling, "I'm a pathetic looser, I guess."
He might smile, and say on the contrary he finds me interesting, that's why he's there. It intrigued him I would call out like that, he wanted to see what would happen if he answered my prayer. That he wanted to do such a thing for a while, that he had said so himself years ago in his book. He'd seen would pick up my copy of Queen of the Damned from my bedside table.
A look of dawning realization and disbelief would cross my face, "you're Lestat," He might comment that it should have been obvious. The thought might have crossed my mind but I wouldn't have believed it was possible. Then I would sit down laughing so hard it would hard to breath. I doubt I would get control of myself easily. He might just stare, then when I could speak I would say, "I'm not laughing at you, but this amazing, impossible, I, what is it you want anyway?"
He might say to be adored, or simply to know me. Know this interesting mortal girl. Then I would tell him every thing about me. If he was interested to know, I would tell him the story of my life, perhaps comment it was funny that a vampire wanted to interview me. he might point out. I know the story of is life, I know him, so it should be the same for me, he wants to know me as I know him. So I would tell him everything.
I don't think he would kill me, I think he would like me maybe, or at least be interested. Then he would go. I would want to see him again. That would be dangerous, he didn't have much self control, even now he might want to bite me. I'd be tempted to let him if he could do it. Just to see what it would feel like, but I wouldn't want to die, but I might put my trust in him.
I don't know if he would turn me or offer. He might not since I'm young and there are things I should do before that. He also points out I am religious, that I have morals, that this isn't something I should want. I think I might want it, I might not know, I would want to see him again. Maybe he would keep in touch, maybe he would take me then, turn me, I don't know.
2) Refuse, I'm Christian, I need to proof of my faith, I don't need to see heaven or hell, and I would never serve the devil.
My hypothetical to you. You're offered the chance to be a mortal companion to a vampire, would you take the chance, what vampire would you want it to be.

Okay to answer the last one
I would probably be a mortal companion to a vampire. Probably to Lestat because there would never be a dull moment but to Louis or Marius so that I could talk to them to get to know more about what they have seen.
Now for my question: If you were given a choice of any of the vampiric gifts, which one would it be and why?

That's easy, i'd choose flight :"3
You're in your World Civilization I class in college, on the first day of class. In walks Armand, who quietly takes a seat toward the back of the class. You try not to stare- his face has been covered with some sort of ashy substance, diminishing the preternatural glow, and he is dressed no different than any of the other students in the room. But something about him catches your eye.
The next day, he is absent. The third day, as you're walking to class, he catches you in the hall. Coming up silently behind you, he startles the hell out of you, then apologizes politely and asks for your notes from the day before. What do you do?

Flight? I think I might be more for immortality if that counts as a gift. Anyway I love your hypothetical, right up my alley.
I'd apologize and say that I really don't take notes that well, because I'm dyslexic I grew up not being able to write so I kind of have a near endemic memory and just remember everything I'm taught. The notes I did take, I would explain that he probably wouldn't be able to read them because my handwriting and spelling is so bad, part of he disability. Then I would offer to go over everything we did the last day with him, if he has the time. Since this is a night class, I don't have any other classes, so I have time, and love teaching, I tutored in high school for National Honors Society. Then we have a conversation going. Maybe we would hit it off, since I am 18 and never can find people to converse with who are on my level, I talk like a forty year old, I'm smart, philosophical, not interested in things others my age tend to be, I think we might get along.

Hey CameoAmalthea, you didn't post a senario! Darn, well that just means I'll have to answer the one before (YaY Armand!)
Hmm.....
First, I'd smile all sugary-sweet like and ask him to walk with me to class while I search for my notebook. I'm pretty organized, but I always carry around an excess amount of stuff. Searching for it would probably take the five minutes to walk to class. I'd hand him the notebook as we walked in, and sit down in the back next to him, instead of the front like I normally do. He's bound to ask me why, so I'd tell him that 1) this way I make sure I get my notebook back, and 2) sometimes my handwriting can be hard to read. He opens the notebook and smiles because I really do have bad handwriting, even when I print, which is all I do.
The class would begin, and I'd have loose paper out to take notes with until I got my notebook back, then I'd just recopy them into the book (or else I'd loose them). We both stay silent the entire class, doing our work, and at the end of the class he'd hand me back my notebook and leave without saying "Thank you" or "Goodbye." I would think that that was rude, until I see that as a repayment, he took the notes for me and they are now in the proper spot in the notebook, dated and everything. I would admire his handwriting because it's probably really curvy and graceful looking, and much neater than mine. Then I'd leave.
I'd be the last one out of class and it would probably be an evening class, like a 6pm-8pm class, and when I got out it would be dark. I'd be walking to the bus from the back of the campus, and even though I'd be listening to music, I'd be on edge. I'm always paranoid that sombody's following me, but tonight it seems worse. Just as I'd get to the streetlit part of the campus, by the busses, I'd hear a car start up really loudly and I'd get all freaked out and run to the bus.
So here's my hypothetical question: Continue the story--
You're waiting for the bus to take you back to your apartment and Armand drives up in his sports car and offers you a ride home so he can thank you for your notes and maybe buy you dinner. You don't know what he is, you just know that he's different and a little creepy. You're also curious as to why he wasn't in class the night before. Do you accept the ride?

I actually thought the one before mine so good that it was hard to think of a better one, glad someone else got a chance to answer it.
Well, its only been drummed into my head since I was like three not to get into cars with strangers, especially guys. Yes he is in my class, and we have talked, but that doesn't mean he is not a rapist or serial killer. However given that if I had talked to him I would probably think him interesting enough to want to talk to, I might want to go. So I would say couldn't we walk since everything within walking distance of campus, and its such a nice night, oh wait I told a friend I was meeting her, nothing big just let me call her to let her know. So I would call a friend and say who I was with, and give a description, that way the police would know who to look for if I disapeared, that is if I got in the car. If I did I'd keep my cell phone out, so 911 if necessary.
so would you get in the car?I guess I owe you a real hypo. You are living in an apartment that is a underground basement that the owners of the house refurbished to rent out for the extra money. You live within walking distance of a beach, and one morning you are jogging before dawn because its cooler and you like seeing the sunrise on the peer before going for coffee. On the beech you see a distraught looking man, getting closer you see he is crying blood tears. After getting over the initial shock, you realize that this is Daniel from the books, or looks like him anyway, and by what you can see with your flashlight. (you carry one to jog on the beech in the dark). Realizing this vampire might be suicidal and also dangerous to you, what do you do.

The first one with Armand in your class:
well presembly that I don't know Armand or that he is a vampire. I would tell him he could borrow my notes and give them to him and in the mean time freak out on the inside. I would go with him to class then.
If Armand drove by and asked if I wanted a ride: I would probably say no because I hardly know him.
You are cornored by Armand after class and he asks if you are busy. You say no and he asks if you want to go with him somewhere. Where would you like to go and what would you do with Armand.

To Cameo's situation
Of course in my head I will begin being fangirlish. Then getting a hold of myself I will remember he was in pain. Tempted to grab a stick and poke him. If he will hiss at me, leave him alone. But he would hiss regardless wanting help or killing anyone close enough if I did that. So I will put my flashlight off him, giving him back his privacy with the darkness and tell what was wrong, that I could help him. If he accept and he end up with a happy ending, then I will have the memory of it. If he's really pissed off and kill me... well he may write his own book one day and will talk about me for 2 lines. I'll be famous! -
You go to the cinema to see the premiere of Interview with a Vampire. You already read the book and is excited to see what it will look like. During the projection, a man beside you isn't stopping to complain under his breath. You turn and see a blonde haired man, much better than Tom Cruise and realize it is the real Lestat! What do you do?

My eyes would widen and I would quickly turn back in my seat wondering what to do in this situation. I tend to doubt that of the supernatural because of sermons delivered by my pastor, so instead of believing what I think is true, I doubt the fact that it was him. I politely turn in my seat and ask if he would mind keeping his comments to himself because I'm trying to enjoy the movie. He of course would get a cross look on his face by being told to do something and continue with his banter about the movie talking of how this and that never happened and how Tom Cruise does him no justice. Finally I would sigh and turn back and ask him if he recently got released from a institute. Thus annoying him even further.
My question for you is: Of course after the movie you were quite aggitated at the fact that your movie going experiance was ruined. You walk out into the slightly emptied parking lot with only a few street lights and the moon to light your path. Suddenly that man is in front of you, looking quite annoyed and not in the least bit amused. Would you try to evade him or stay and see what he wanted?

Well, the news combined with episodes of CSI and general paranoia tells me that, as a 16-25 year old girl alone in a parking lot at night with man, I'm probably going to get raped. So I walk to my car while scanning for any possible weapon, and going over kung fu in my head.
Scenario: Life's not going right, when one day, some crazy looking guy pops out of nowhere and tells you that you can have a chance to start your life over: but it has to be in another time period. You pick any time anywhere, but it can't be in the future, or in the last twenty years. When do you want to go?

Not a VC related hypothetical. Its funny our 10th grade world history teacher had us write an essay on this topic except it had to be another country and more than 200 years ago. It was interesting as most of the class said they wanted to go back in time to meet Jesus. Well first off, when starting this new life do I get to pick gender, because other than modern times it would suck to be a woman. Think about it, women were property, like horses, use them for labor, for breeding, ad for riding, marriage was a contract to transfer the property (the woman) from the father to the husband who basically owned her.
In ancient Roman times the male head of the woman's family not only had the right to choose who she married but could also divorce her without her consent. (although Roman father could also sell there sons up to three times, or expose there children at birth to kill them) Rome happened to be more progressive about women's rights than the following middle ages or the earlier civilizations of Greece. Its only in the last hundred years women were granted suffrage in this country, only in the last fifty or so that we have begun to approach social, economic, and sexual equality, and we are still not there.
So if you are woman living in another time, you are basically property. You could be a courtesan, that had more freedom, but still you are just being used for your body. Not very fulfilling life I'd say.
Now if I could start my new life as a man, then I might begin to consider this. Another thing to consider would be class. If you are a serf in the middle ages life would suck, hell in basically any age it sucks to be poor. Its only in our modern time that the poor have been taken so well care of. Now poor people are treated as equal, at least in this country, have opportunities, and even in the poverty level can live well enough, have small subsidized housing with electricity, heating and cooling, television, possibly the internet, access to books, and not to mention food. Compared to how things were in other ages our modern age treats all classes remarkably well.
So I would have to be a man, and would prefer to be born to a well off family. Now let me think. I would like to live in the Italian Renaissance, because I would like to see Florance at its prime. I would also like to possibly meet the artists. However really, there was still problems, cloak and dagger sort of things going on. Not to mention that people didn't bathe. Bathing was considered sinful by the medieval church because it involved nudity and it was a Roman tradition ergo Pagan and evil.
Of course I am ruling out the dark ages because that whole period I would rather not be alive in. Despite what ideas people have based on the Renaissance festival, and dungeons and ddragons, the middle ages would not be fun to live in. There were diseases, ignorance, religious intolerance, not to mention no artistic or intelligence progress. Three class systems, those who fight (aristocrats), those who play (church people monks and preists) and those who work (peasants). Now as I would only think of being in the first category, the idea of just being some illiterate warrior isn't that appealing. I like reason, art, and then again there is the whole not bathing thing.
The only civilization at the time was in Constantinople (present day Istanbul, becuase Istanbul was Constantinople but now its Istanbul not Constantinople sing it with me). Speaking of which, Constantinople in the byzantine period would be interesting, I would certainly like to see the Haga Sophia in its true glory before it was destroyed. The dome of the church was supposed to be like walking under heaven itself, glimmering with gold and other precious materials. All in mosaics of byzantine style religious Icons. When Justinian saw this completed church he said "Solomon I have surpassed you". Now that would be a sight to see, and life in Constantinople at the time wouldn't be so bad.
Then of course there is the earlier grandeur of Rome itself. This does hold some appeal to me as a Latin and classics Scholar. If I lived during a peaceful time such as during the Pax Romana (because at some other points there were wars and insane Caesars ) then that would be nice. If I was a Patriarch with money who's family was in the favor of the empire, and maybe not a first born son so I wouldn't have to actually do anything. Well that could fun, and they bathed then, definite plus. Homosexuality would be alright, that's defiantly good since even if I would have to be a man to live in another time period I would still like boys. The down side is that the life expectancy was 22.
Now what of further back, Athenian Greece, the schools of the philosophers. I would like to meet Plato or Socrates. Still, I think I'd favor living in Rome.
Other areas or times to catch my fancy, hmm, well perhaps ancient Egypt, that was what I wrote about in my essay in tenth grade. Mainly because at that point I was considering living as girl in ancient times, and in ancient Egypt women were educated. Like Rome that bathed and had indoor swimming pools. I would like to see the library of Alexandria before it was destroyed. (something that made Caesar deserve to be stabbed) Though that's not really that ancient Egypt, but either way I would like to see that.
Then more modern, well Paris in the late 19th century. The clothes are nice, I'd like to see the opera house then, be a part of society then. As I would have money I'm certain my life would be fun, and by that time bathing was on the rise again.
And why is bathing so important, well think about it. Oh and as explanation for not considering any Eastern places in history, that is because I lack knowledge of Eastern cultures and humanities. Well rather I have more knowledge on Western cultures and humanities. Though I suppose living in Japan during the Genroku period wouldn't be that bad, as they bathed, allowed homosexuality, and had rich artistic and cultural pursuits.
Well I suppose I should make my decision. Its hard however, you know the place I would like to live most on earth is Venice, visited that city and feel in love with it. However all the religious intolerance that existed I'm not sure I would like to live there, or anywhere during times of Inquisition. Truly we enjoy so many freedoms today, we can say and do as we please for the most part, and enjoy comfortable lives, with money we could have opulent lies beyond the dreams of anyone in any other time.
Not to mention we have better health care, longer life expectancy, and its so much cleaner in this century.
Alright fine, I would be the very wealthy son of a business man living in late 19th century Paris. There you have an answer.
Hypothetical: You are staying with a relative in New Orleans and you meet her new semi pet Mojo, a large German Shepard she watches during the day. Having just finished Tale of the Body Thief you find that ironic, then that night a blonde man comes to pick up the dog. What do you do.
