Tournaments are multi-race events in which dragons compete for big prizes. Currently, all tournaments are hosted by the shop, but soon users will be able to host tournaments too (and get rewarded for doing so!)
This forum will have, for the moment, two types of threads- tournament threads, and race threads.
Tournament Threads
Tournament topics will give the name of the tournament, when it will run, the type of tournament (round robin or elimination) and how many people can participate. It will also give a closing date for sign-ups. Once the closing date has passed, tournament threads will keep track of who is racing whom, and when those races are to take place. If you have signed up for a tournament, please keep checking back to its thread to see if you're supposed to be racing someone.
If you see a tournament you'd like to enter, you can sign up by posting your username, and the name of your dragon. Make sure your dragon meets any requirements listed in the tournament topic. Also make sure you'll be available during the time the tournament will be running. If you'll be gone for over 24 hours during that time period, consider not signing up, or let the person running the tournament know beforehand.
If the entire tournament is not filled, then the tournament creator will fill the extra slots with "ghost" entries. These just fill up space in the organizational chart. If your dragon is due to be pitted against one, your dragon automatically wins and advances.
Racing Threads
Race threads in this forum will always belong to a specific tournament, and should state which one in the topic title or in the first post. The title should include the tournament name, and the names of both dragons participating.
Unlike normal races, the tournament creator starts all tournament racing threads. If the tournament calls for it, they may also enact special rules for the race. Any special rules should be explained beforehand in the tournament thread.
If you are a participant in a race thread, you must post to it within 24 hours of its creation, and at least once every 24 hours after until the race ends. Whoever gets online and posts first acts as player 1, and whoever gets online and posts second acts as player 2. The tournament creator will end the race when it's over, and announce the winner. If either player misses the 24 hour mark, the forfeit the race and the last person to have posted wins. If both players miss the 24 hour mark at the start of the race, they both count the race as a loss or get struck from the elimination ladder.
Winning a Tournament
Once all the races have been won, the tournament creator should update the tournament thread to say who's won, and what their prize is. If you've won a scale, it will be automatically added to your inventory, so just PM me if you want to use it.
