Okay, well, if you're joing this roleplay, you've probably read at least one of the books. This'll be at Hogwarts, but excluding Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred and George, etc. But Dumbledore and the other professors are all there. I dunno about Voldemort, but probably not, unless someone really really wants him there. So, PM me your profiles, and I'll put 'em up.

Name: Gail Nithgin
Age/Year/Gender: 14/4/F
Blood: Half-blood (magic on dad's side) (not-so-rich)
House: Gryffindor- seeker
Wand: Aspen, phoenix feather, ten inches
Description: Long, straight, brown hair, flowing smoothly halfway down her back; mellow brown eyes; and light-brown skin. (Half Indian)
Pets: Mellon- black cat, green eyes, short fur
Other: Her patronus is a tiger.

Name: Tim Ekard
Age/Year/Gender: 14/4/M
Blood: Pure-blood (rich)
House: Gryffindor
Wand: Snakewood, dragon heartstring, eleven and half inches
Description: Short, straight, black hair; glistening light-blue eyes; and light skin with a rosy tint in his cheeks.
Pets: Sunshine- white cat, blue eyes, short fur
Other: His patronus is a golden eagle (although you can't tell it's gold, I know, 'cause patronuses are silvery).

Name: Peter Neverwood
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Year: 3
House: Gryffindor
Appearance: Neverwood can be found gloomy and depressed on a typical day, along with an irritable nature and a short fuse. Rather scrawny-looking for his age, this boy has orange-auburn hair and downcast brown eyes. When he conjures up a devious plan, however, his eyes light up with a mischievous glint and he wears a smug grin. His uniform is often askew.
Bio (History, Personality): Peter likes to think of himself as clever, quick, and daring. However, his foolish actions can lead him into horrible consequences. He tends to be rude and enjoys playing tricks on others. Self-centered and selfish, pride often gets in his way, and he has a sort of respect for and even admires the Slytherins (especially, it seems, Darco Malfoy, though he's not about to let the Seventh Year know that!). When asked why he wasn't sorted into Slytherin, he'd usually shrug and proclaim Slytherins are too cowardly, and only Gryffindor was worthy of his bravery. He sometimes likes to think he’s funny, but usually he’s not. His cleverness is questionable…but he is not to be underestimated. Peter is determined and can be very persuasive. A secret he has shared only with his best friend Michael Seacat is that he's an orphan.
Wand: 12 and a quarter inches, Oak, Phoenix feather; Springy
Blood: Pure blood
Likes: Flying on brooms, playing tricks on others, laughing, joking, challenging others with games, casting spells, daring to explore the forbidden forest.
Dislikes: Older students, strict teachers, lessons, homework, books, studying, rules, prefects, Michael’s pet kitten; Buttercup
Quidditch?: Rides Comet 260 and wants to try out for a Beater, but he hopes someday to be Captain of the Quidditch team. He's crazy about brooms, flying, and causing all the mayhem he can manage.
Prefect?: No.
Pet: None.

Name: Helena N. Kendraman
Age/Year/Gender:13/3/F
Blood: Muggle-Born? Half-blood? Father died during pregnancy, mother refused to say who he was. (Rich)
House: Gryffindor
Wand: Birch, unicorn hair, ten and a half inches
Description: Metamorphous. (What Tonks is.) Prefers petite features and long, dark red hair, with bright eyes the color of twilight, and dark skin. Actally had short black hair, and dark dark brown eyes. Is kind but tough-love, and usually had many friends even though she is not quite the social butterfly. Is best friends with Gaech.
Pets: Fred, her orange-ish owl which she names after her hero.

Name: Kahla Zabweh
Age/Year/Gender: 14/4/F
Blood: Muggle-born (almost rich)
House: Ravenclaw
Wand: Purple heart, unicorn hair, eleven inches
Description: Shoulder-length, thick, black, normally pulled back in two poofs; dark-brown eyes; dark-brown skin. (Parents are African.)
Pets: Alhak- brown barn owl, 8 inches
Other: Her patronus is a roadrunner.

Name: Michael Seacat
Gender: Male
Age: 13
Year: 3
House: Ravenclaw
Appearance: Michael Seacat is a rather worrisome boy with long, blond hair tied neatly in a loose ponytail and long bangs that tend to hide his sky blue eyes.
Bio (History, Personality): Naturally calm and tranquil, Michael attempts to keep his friend Peter under control, but usually ends up being dragged along into his schemes and plots, and then into detention. Kind-hearted and caring, Peter tends to find Michael a little too mature, and enjoys teasing him about his 'girly sensitivity and hair to match'. Despite his accused weakness of worrying perhaps a little too much, (but not without good reason) he lives up to his house's expectations and reveals his intelligence in understanding others. He's also noticed to show extreme shyness around girls. Being the 'perfect gentleman', Peter likes to pester Michael about his overly polite manners.
Wand: Maple, 14 inch, Dragon heartstring; Pliable
Blood: Muggle-born
Likes: Reading books, practicing magic, taking walks, learning about magical creatures, playing with his kitten, Buttercup.
Dislikes: Having to constantly keep Peter out of trouble, getting blamed for something he didn't do, and having too much attention drawn to him.
Quidditch?: No - afraid of heights.
Prefect?: Hopes to be one day, but not quite yet.
Pet: A yellow/orange tabby kitten named Buttercup. She's very protective of Michael, loyal to only him, and can be very ferocious at times. Michael's goal is to teach her she is NOT some sort of saber-toothed tiger and that he's the one who's supposed to protect her. Buttercup's favorite hangout is in Michael's sweater, and because of this, he finds it difficult to attend Magical Creatures class without the risk of her upsetting the creatures.

Name: Crystal Moonwater
Gender: Female
Age: 13
Year: 3
House: Ravenclaw
Appearance: Withdrawn and isolated, Crystal is usually on her own, her hands clasped together behind her back or in front of her, unless they’re occupied holding something. The something, more often than not, tends to be or related to a book or books. They’re the only things that provide both a distraction as well as a comfort to her, other than animals like cats. Occasionally, stray cats like to follow her around, but never for long. Her hair is a long, straight, silky, black, and goes down to the length of her waist. Occasionally, she wears a thin circlet or a small band of gold or silver around her head, always embedded with one or more sapphires. This tends to be the topic of gossip or teasing, and though she seems embarrassed by them, wears them nonetheless. Other times, however, her hair is just left down, like a cascading, dark waterfall. She never puts it up and acts constantly as if she’s hoping to hide behind it. Her everyday wear seems to consist of only gowns, both intricate and simple, yet always made richly and she attempts to hide them under her robes to little effect. Her skin is of the most delicate, pale complexion and for some reason never seems blemished by anything. Her frame is thin and small, her features elegant and distinct, her poise perfect, and her sad, lonely eyes a reflective, deep, sapphire blue. All this seems to put great stress on her, as other students consider her snobbish, for the precise impression she seems to give them: that she carries herself like royalty and thus expects to be treated like so, which couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Bio: (History, Personality) Crystal is a naturally shy, sweet, and almost unusually quiet girl. Although her history is not very well-known, it seems to vary greatly from those of most other Hogwarts students and puts her at a disadvantage. Everything she does seems to be so old-fashioned and boring, she dresses and acts like royalty, and she tends to have trouble making friends. Many consider her a snob, though if they looked twice, they might have discovered that Crystal doesn’t enjoy acting as she does. It was only how she was brought up and raised.
She tries to avoid attention in general, but can be really caring and affectionate to those who take the time to understand her. Sadly, those are remarkably few, even among those in her own house. Underneath her strange, medieval gowns and intricate jewelery, she’s just another new kid trying to fit in. After all, she transferred the year before from a different realm altogether.
Wand: 13 inches, Mahogany, Unicorn horn; Supple
Blood: Pure blood (Half-elf)
Likes: ...Peter Neverwood? Animals, the moon, the night, and water.
Dislikes: Unknown. Probably loud places and people.
Quidditch?: Prefers not to be engaged in sports. Too loud and popular for such a shy nature. Doesn’t like to be the center of attention, and would much prefer reading a book all alone in her room than watching the games, but will politely sit quietly in the stands if she must. At least it’s easier for her to blend with the crowd.
Prefect?: No. Perhaps in the future.
Pet: A male water unicorn familiar called Ripple. She summoned him from the lake. However, he isn't really a pet. Though Crystal has no actual pets, she adores cats of all kinds.

Name: Alice Gardener
Age/Year/Gender: 16/6/F
Blood: Muggle-born
House: Ravenclaw
Wand: California Redwood, foxfur core, 9 1/2 inches, with a carved pattern of a vine of ivy spiraling around it from the base to the tip.
Description: She has long, golden brown hair that reaches her lower back and grayish-green eyes. She is Caucasian with light freckles across the bridge of her nose and cheeks and a few here and there on her arms, shoulders, and legs. Also, she is about 5' 7" tall with an average to thin build.
Bio: An American, her Muggle parents send her abroad to study at Hogwarts. She enjoys spending time outside and appreciates nature. While very intelligent, she isn't what you'd call brainy. She's more of a creative thinker with a mind for exploration. Generally she is friendly, but she can also be judgemental, impatient, aggressive, and self-centered. While she may seem difficult to get to know, she has an open mind and is a loyal friend.
Favorite classes: Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, Potions
Pets: None

Name: Carmine Kicksprinter
Age/Year/Gender: 13/3/M
Blood: Pureblood
House: Hufflepuff - chaser
Wand: Beech, Demiguise hair, 8 inches
Description: His hair is short, peppered gray, and sticks out like quills in all directions. He is relatively small and thin for his age, with sharp, pointed features and a sharp-toothed grin. He has two different colored eyes, his left eye being grayish-blue and his right dark brown. His skin is pale.
Bio: The twin brother of Camille. He is always curious and energetic, but a bit of a coward. He loves putting his nose where it doesn't belong. His quick thinking and sly abilities are always getting him and his sister out of a jam.
Favorite classes: Charms, transfiguration
Pets: None
Other: Carmine is an animagus capable of transforming into a raccoon.

Name: Camille Kicksprinter
Age/Year/Gender: 13/3/F
Blood: Pureblood
House: Hufflepuff - chaser
Wand: Holly, Demiguise hair, 8 inches
Description: Althought she's the fraternal twin of Carmine, they look incredibly similar. Her hair, the same color as her brother's, is cut a few inches longer but is still equally messy. She's the same size as Carmine, with more feminine features of course. Her eyes also exhibit heterochromia, but her left eye is brown, while her right eye is blue-gray.
Bio: Camille is more daring than her brother, but equally mischievous. She's always chasing something around, most likely Carmine.
Favorite classes: Quidditch, transfiguration
Pets: None
Other: Camille is also a raccoon animagus.

Name: Vincent Fulfwit
Age/Year/Gender: 14/4/M
Blood: muggle born
House: Hufflepuff - beater
Wand: Willow, very flexible, Ashwinder Ash (an Ashwinder is a magical snake)
Description: Brown shaggy hair that goes down to his shoulders. He has green blue eyes, athletically built. Taller than average at about 5'8'', he has long and slender legs. Rather pale.
Bio: Most of the time Vincent is calm and relaxed. He does well in most of his classes, getting high marks in everything but potions. The fact he does not excel in one class is of pretty much no matter to him, and he retains his happy, worry-less manner. However, though he is not exactly cowardly, he hates being frightened. He is very kind and friendly to all that he meets, and beleives that you should be nice to everybody, no matter how mean they are.
Favorite classes: Herbology, Charms, and Care of Magical Creatures
Pets: A rather large, dog-sized, tawny grey cat with black fur tips on it's cheeks like a lynx named Maxim. Its face is a tan color with streaks of dark mahogany color. Maxim is usually strolling behind Vincent, it's huge paws padding along along softly.
Other: His patronus is a speckled bear.

Name: Liana Toularn
Age/Year/Gender: 14/4/F
Blood: Pure-blood (rich)
House: Slytherin- seeker
Wand: Cedar, veela hair (grandmother is veela on mother's side), ten and a half inches
Description: Platinum blonde (white) hair, in curls, inch or so past shoulder; green eyes; light (almost pale) skin
Pets: None
Other: Her patronus is a large tarantula.

Name: Elis Redleaf
Gender: Female
Age: 13
Year: 3
House: Slytherin
Appearance: Brunette hair, cropped short up to her chin, but for a very long length of braid down her back. Crimson eyes.
Bio: (History, Personality) Elis comes from a rich line of Slytheins, and thus has had everything she's ever wanted since she was a child. Spoiled rotten as she is, Elis chooses to hide her bratty personality while trying to get what she wants. She's a very good persuader when she wants to be, but she's also got a very nasty temper and a short fuse. For some reason, she finds herself drawn to mischeif and trouble-makers, and enjoys watching pranks pulled even if she doesn't try them herself. The only excpetion is when tshe's the prank victim. Otherwise, she's pretty good at holding her tounge and keeping secrets, as well as siliencing other tattletales.
Wand: 12 inches, Ebony, Veela Hair; Inflexible
Blood: Pure blood
Likes: Being the best, being admired, being rich. And perhaps may have a crush on Peter Neverwood.
Dislikes: Being beaten at anything, Know-It-Alls, weak or timid people, being tricked or pranked (which is quite often) being ignored, Michael Seacat, and Peter Neverwood.
Quidditch?: Yes. She loves competiton no matter what form it takes. She likes to take the position of Keeper.
Prefect?: Perhaps...her parents have good connections, as many old Slytherin families.
Pet: A grey screech owl speckled with black spots. Goes by the name of Silentwind, as well as Silent for short. Peter tends to enjoy making fun of its name.

Other

Name: Gaech
Age/Year/Gender: 24/Kitchens/M
Blood: House-elf, mediocre pay but rich amongst his kind
House: Free elf, related to Dobby (He's his uncle)
Wand: (I'm all for non-human magical creatures being allowed wands in this RP, but it has to be a group vote, eh?)
Description: Short, even for a house-elf, green eyes, likes to wear Gryffindor colors, and always wears mis-matched socks to honor his uncle, whom he adores. Has an allegiance to Helena not unlike Dobby's to Harry, but does not ever feel too compleled to treat anyone as master, he was born a free elf. He is the first elf he knows of to be so. He enjoys serving at Hogwarts for a small pay, sick days, and 2 weeks of vacation a year. ( He normally goes a bit stir crazy and spends the second week helping Helena and her friends.)
Pets: None.

"Now girls, those are misfits," Liana commented to a group of four other Slytherins as they moved to block the way. "A pure-blood idiot, half-blood twit, and mudblood loser." Out of all the insults, the one aimed at Kahla was the strongest, but all she did was frown as the other girls snickered.

The three friends had been heading back to their dorms after talking together for a while. The sorting ceremony and following dinner had been over for about half an hour. Most of the students had gone to bed, leading Gail to wonder if Liana and her posse had been waiting just for them.

"Well, sorry we can't all be as perfect as you," the Gryffindor retorted calmly, rolling her eyes.

A corner of the platinum blonde's mouth was tugged slightly downward, but she pretended to ignore her arch-enemy's words. "See the one in the middle, girls? That's their leader. Or at least, she fancies herself one. But I've heard from others, even non-Slytherins, that she's too bossy to lead properly. Thinks she's 'helping out the team' but won't even listen to their suggestions. She may seem popular, being Gryffindor's seeker an' all, but she's really quite lonely. As a result, she's got some control issues, especially with friends."

Liana smirked as Gail frowned. She knew the others were starting to crack. As Tim opened his mouth to defend his friend, she continued on, her group sneering.

"And that bloke there, with his mouth hanging open? Another looney. He can see the thestrals that pull our carriages. Know why? I heard it was because when he was younger, his best friend was killed right in front of him. Is that true, looney?" she asked, her mouth forming into a malicious grin.

Tim's eyes brimmed with tears. Choking back a sob, he turned and ran, Kahla following after a brief nod from Gail.

"I don't appreciate you insulting me, but at least that I can ignore. Know that I will get you back for hurting my friends." Her voice was dangerously low.

Liana shrugged nonchalantly. "I know you'll try." With that, she and her group pushed past Gail, heading back to the dungeons for their Slytherin dorms.

Knowing she probably wouldn't be able to find her friends by now, Gail went to the Gryffindor common room to wait for Tim. That was ten minutes ago. Five minutes ago, he had come, said Kahla had found him, he was alright, and she didn't need to worry, then went up to bed.

Of course, she knew he still probably felt terrible, and so did she. The Slytherin's insults to the confident Gryffindor had hit closer to home than the blonde knew. Since her friends often came to her for comfort, she had hidden her own insecurities, not wanting to bother them when they were already bothered. But hidden or not, they were still there, and wouldn't disappear, no matter what she tried.

So, feeling bad for Tim and Kahla as well as herself, she sat on the floor in front of the warm fire in the cozy Gryffindor common room and quietly sobbed. Understandably, she didn't feel like changing into her pajamas at the moment, so she was still in a yellow t-shirt, blue jeans, and her Gryffindor robes. She hoped that no one would wake up and come down or come in late through the portrait, since she wasn't really too thrilled at the idea of making excuses for her crying.

Tymiko the Pirate Girl

PostPosted: Sat Jul 21, 2007 10:40 pm

Light overflowed into the room as the portrait covering the entrance was swung aside. An arrogant figure paused half-way through, his dark eyes cast to the floor where a Fourth Year quietly cried. His expression was unreadable. It was difficult to see his face in the dark, but at last he let himself in the rest of the way and slowly approached the girl.

He crouched beside her quietly. "Hey," he murmured, balancing on the soles of his feet and resting his arms over his knees. "You're up late. What's the matter?" the boy prodded gently. His gaze seemed to flicker for a moment.

A blond boy yawned as he entered the Ravenclaw common room, a kitten peering up at him from the folds of his inner sweater. "That Peter..." he murmured wearily, putting a hand to his mouth as he yawned a second time. "...him and his late-night pranks...those Slytherin girls are going to be on him in the morning..." The orange tabby kitten mewled softly, as if in agreement, and nestled back down under his wooly outergarment.

In his exaustion, the Third Year had not seen the dark-haired girl curled up fast asleep on a couch beside the fireplace, a book she had been reading still in her hands.

He trudged toward the open window to shut the curtains. Unfortunately, the view from the tower common room caught him by surprise, and before he could completely pull the drapes across he found he was paralyzed. Not by any sort of magic mind you; no, all that was required to paralyze Michael Seacat was a good view from high up and a great fear of heights. Both of which he posessed at the moment.

Buttercup, sensing something wrong with her master, stuck her tiny pink nose out again and mewled something indistinct. She could sense Michael's wild fear; he was too distant to hear her. She pawed at his collar in vain.

Helena's eyes turned a murky kind of grey as she paced and worried. No-one else was in her dormitory yet, and she wanted to know why. Her friends normaly shared the dormitory with her, but they had not shown up on the train. She knew that Kela had moved with her family and was now going to Beauxbatons, and that Sheila was going to be coming a week later because of her Father's accident, but where were Lana and Rose? (I'm either going to find a reason they're gone and have Helena meet new people or create their profiles.) "Gaech?" she whispered.
Gaech heard Helena call him, as he had known she would. They always greeted each other after the Sorting and the feast. He apperated right in front of her, and jumped up delightl, hugging her. "You look well, Madam Helena! I'm glad you are finally back at Hogwarts. How have you been?" he beemed.
"Gaech, it's so good to see you! You're not looking bad yourself. Have the other elfs stopped giving you a five foot radius?"
"Oh, yes, they now only stay one foot away!" When Helena looked worried, he quickly added, "Oh, they like me fine, they're just afraid of touching clothes... you know how some of them are."
"Fantastic! I'm sorry Gaech, but I have a question. Do you know where Lana and Rose could be? They weren't on the train, and it worries me..."
"I'm afraid I do not, Madam Helena..." Gaech chewed his lip in a worried way. The headmaster didn't always alert house elfs to everything, but he knew that Gaech was friends with Helena and her friends... he would have told him if he knew.....
Helena sighed.

3w(Time warping to right after the feast)

Vincent Fulfwit sat backwards on the table seat, his back to the glimmering, sparkling clean plates, dishes, goblets, the silver cutlery, and the pitchers that once held some leftover pumpkin juice which had all been magically cleared of every last tasty morsel moments before. Except, of course, the several fudge brownies he had stuffed in his robe pockets as soon as he realized that the feast was coming to a close. Watching thoughtfully as the older Hogwarts students meandered off to their common rooms. "I better be getting back," he said to himself, seemingly reluctant to have to get up from his seat. "I hope Maxim is doing okay, he's been in that luggage cage an awful long while now."

As if in answer to Vincent's question a large grey form leapt up to the table right next to the fourth year Hufflepuff. He rubbed his cat's head roughly, saying with a laugh, "How did you get out?" Maxim gave his owner a knowing gaze before flopping deliberately into Vincent's lap.
"Come on," said the young wizard, hoisting up his cat under his arm so that Maxim hung down like a sack of potatoes, except that potatoes don't purr profusely.

Walking down the hall, feline in toe, Vincent saw ahead of him a girl with her friends, all in Slytherin robes. They seemed oddly fmiliar, he must have known them from somewhere. Unbeknownst to him that this was Liana Toularn and her group of Slytherins, he decided that he really had nothing much better to do before it came time for lights out, and he walked over to them.

"Hi." he said simply, coming up from behind them. Deciding he'd better press on, he continued. "I'm a muggle born. My parents said they always thought there was something strange about me, said Howarts explained alot of things. They're kinda snide, sometimes, but otherwise really nice." Remembering something, he pulled a peice of the dessert he'd smuggled away from the banquet. "Brownie?" he asked politely, offering it to Liana.

Alice Gardener climbed the spiral staircase leading to the Ravenclaw commonroom. It was the first day of her 6th year hear at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. As she walked her dark robes flapped outwards, touching either side of the narrow stone passageway. Her long brown hair was braided down her back with a dark blue ribbon woven in. Her steps echoed upwards through the spiraling tower as she continued to climb.

Her memories flashing back to her first day at Hogwarts, she marveled at how naive and intimiadated she had been. She remembered back to that fateful day that would change her life forever, the day that her letter arrived by owl. That day she was flung into a world that she had only ever dreamed existed. Some memories were impossible to describe in words. Now, as she stood before the familiar Ravenclaw doorknocker and tried to clear her mind, her memories all came flooding back.

The familiar voice sounded. "When was Nocholas Flamel, noted alchemist, born?"

"Dang." Alice looked down. Out of the infinite stores of knowledge and wisdom in the world it just had to be a history question, didn't it? There were only three things that she struggled with, and dates were one of them. Thinking quickly, she rifled through her brain for information on Mr. Flamel, "noted alchemist". She remembered vaguely of studying him in Fourth year, and blurted out the first series of numbers that came to mind. "1325?"

"That's correct," said the voice. Alice sighed with relief. Once again her brain surprised her with its own ability. As she entered the shadowy yet peaceful commonroom, she spotted a boy standing by the window. "Hey," she greeted him in passing, her American accent painfully out of place. "What's up?" From the looks of him she judged him to be a few ears younger than her, but she had no clue as to what his name was. Names were the second thing that she was hopeless at.

Gail looked up, glancing at his face, her own tear-stained and calm. Thinking quickly, she replied, "I, um, accidentally burned myself." She sniffled and smiled meekly. "Oops!"

Liana and her friends all wrinkled their noses at Vincent as he came up and talked to them, their distaste for one such as him evident in their narrowed eyes and crossed arms.

"Ewww!" Liana smacked his hand as he showed the brownie. "Get away, mudblood! You don't even deserve to be in this school, much less speak to someone of my ancestry!" Shoving him aside, the Slytherin led her group of sneering girls back to their common room.

A few moments later, Kahla walked up to Vincent, cautiously glancing around for any sign of the conniving Slytherins. "Hey," she asked, smiling politely, "you okay? What made you ever think trying to be nice to those girls would be a good idea?" She grinned. "They're not exactly known for their amiability and kindness."

The Third Year frowned and raised a brow. Regarding the girl's wet face with his skeptical gaze, he decided it had probably been a pretty bad burn to make a Forth Year girl cry. Gryffindors were the brave ones, weren't they?

Not only that, but she didn't seem to mind giving him an answer, and that was off. What girl would admit to crying so hard because of some slight thing such as a burn? He figured most Forth Year Gryffindors would be too prideful to admit they'd accidentally made any mistake and injured themselves.

"How'd you burn yourself?" he inquired softly, playing along until he knew more about the situation. Despite all his obvious faults, amoung his arrogance and foolishness Neverwood was also actually quite clever. He extended a hand out to her. "Here, let me see."

There seemed to be some sort of puncture wound in the flesh of the side of his palm, but it was hardly noticible in the dark of the common room.

"Mew!" A fleeting cry of distress emitted from who at first seemed to be the boy by the window of the Ravenclaw tower. However, the second time it sounded, a little furry head popped up over his right shoulder. A tiny, orange tabby kitten scrambled to claw her way up her master's rigid body. "Mrrrow!" Her wide, peridot-green eyes fixed on the Sixth Year Ravenclaw girl whom had just strolled in.

Determined not to go unnoticed, the valiant feline crounched, springing into the air and pouncing on Alice as the long-haired student passed. She aimed for the shoulder, but, as inexperienced as she was, the young creature could have easily over-estimated her abilites.

Elis grumbled to herself as she sat before her mirror, brushing the longest locks of her hair. She had sat there grooming for a good long time, muttering about the horrible mannerisms at the feast in the Great Hall when she heard something swish gently behind her. Looking up, she turned abruptly, unhappy at being inturrupted. "Who's there?" she demanded.

"Well.... there's not point in staying in here, worrying.... I've already unpacked. I'm going to go see if anyone in the common room knows where they are.... you coming?" Helena asked Gaech.
"Sure!" Gaech said, running through possiblities in his head.... but this was a Gryffindor common room, it should be alright.
The odd pair strolled down the stairs, talking about their summers, each pretending they weren't thinking about their troubles.
"Oh, hi, everyone!" Helena said when she saw the two figures by the fire, and glanced around for others.
"Good evening," Gaech added.
"Ummm.... would either of you know where Rose and Lana McFiluon are?" Helena bit her lip, waiting for an answer, praying for an answer.

Vincent shrugged as the Slytherin posse walked away from the scene. The brownie had pretty much exploded upon impact with the cold stone floor, scattering fudge and frosting like chocolatey shrapnel.

("Hey," she asked, smiling politely, "you okay? What made you ever think trying to be nice to those girls would be a good idea?" She grinned. "They're not exactly known for their amiability and kindness.")

Vincent turned around to face Kahla. He considered her words for a moment, then cocked his head quizzically. "Why do you think I offered them a brownie? It's the mean people who need kindness most. In her case, it probably won't help much, but no harm done." He gazed thoughtfully down the corridor. "They're all gits, really, but who are we to judge? Considering Hogwarts is a boarding school, all we got is each other. Of course we go see our parents once, twice a year, but we're a whole generation of witches and wizards and we're all alone, really. It's almost scary to think about, how limited the social gene pool is, if you get my meaning. The whole house thing almost makes it worse, pitting us against each other, sowing petty rivalries, when really, once you get down to it, we're all the same. Pureblood, half-blood, mudblood, it all runs red, y'know? Oh, well I'm probably boring you half to death with my rambling. It's kind of a shame about the brownie, though. My pop always says never leave food uneaten, 'cause you never know when you're going to have your next meal."

As if to drive the point home, the previously inert feline called Maxim decided it was time to act. In an impressive display of agility, the cat slipped out from under Vincents arm and onto his chest like a river of furry quicksilver. Maxim placed his large back paws squarely against its master's torso and, using every ounce of rippling muscle, leapt for the remains of the brownie, it's mouth wide open in anticipation. The force of the push was so strong that Vincent was sent stumbling backwards. Unfortunately, one of the young wizard's feet landed on top of a rather slippery patch of frosting, and he collapsed comically in a robed heap.

He chuckled softly as his cat guzzled up all he could fine, "Oh right. Waste food? I forgot about my own personal vacuum cleaner." With a slight grunt of effort he sat up, crossing his long, gangly legs. He looked up at Kahla with his soft, green eyes and realized how very pretty she was. "So," he began, "tell me about yourself."

"HA!" a shrilly juvenile voice rang out. "Camille, get a load of that bloke over 'ere! Did ya see him slip and fall right on his arse?"

Hufflepuff twins Carmine and Camille, eerily identical, came frollicking up the corridor to the pathetic tableau of the squashed brownie. Impish grins spread across two pale faces; peppered mops of hair capped off two bobbing heads. Camille walked right up to Vincent and put her hands on her hips. "Ah, don't mind him, mate. It was a bloody fine recovery, if I do say so myself."

"Bullocks!" Carmine piped up. "He totally botched it. Royal mess of a landing. I'd give it a 3 - and that's stretchin' it."

"Aw, you're off your rocker, you are! That deserved at least a 5, maybe a 6. Did you see the altitude he got on the descent? A good solid 3 seconds of air time. And the cat - you've got to give 'im credit for the cat."

Carmine wrinkled his face and waved a hand through the air in dismissal. "Cat shmat. Didn't ya' hear, the Weekly Wizard Weirdie says magical animal tricks are out, exploding gag bags of bodily humors are in. As far as I'm concerned, he can take 'is cat and shove it right up his ar-" Carmine froze mid-swear, mouth agape, as he was struck by a sudden curiosity. "Say, arse-boy, what is yer name, any-hoo?"

Meanwhile, in the Ravenclaw commonroom, Alice was having about as much cat-trouble of her own. Fortunately, her reflexes were swift enough to catch the spry animal as it launched itself at her. "Oh! Hello, kitty, what a surprise!" she exclaimed with light laughter. She cradled the squirming thing awkwardly. "What's it name?" she asked the boy.
