A certain friend of mine is a college professor. Being the lovely, generally even-tempered lady that she is, I was somewhat astounded to hear her cries of frustration while grading her students' papers. I know people are stupid. Really.

I know.

Even armed with that knowledge, I didn't quite believe her when she explained to me the cause of her frustration in detail. You see, her students are given a vocab list. One hundred words per semester they are required to memorize and hopefully assimilate into their less than exemplary vocabulary. My friend doesn't care to inform them which words will be on the latest test of their inadequacy, a fact most find terribly unfair.

Then, as if their asinine whining weren't reason enough to remove their DNA from the gene pool, she showed me the list.

A small sample demonstrates the complete waste of time and mass that has resulted from the public school system.

# Rebuke: Reprimand.
# Relinquish: Give up, release.
# Risqué: Off-color, improper.
# Rueful: Full of sorrow.
# Sagacity: Acuteness of mental discernment and soundness of judgment.
# Scoundrel: A dishonest person.
# Smite: To strike down, injure, or slay.
# Squalid: Filthy, wretched, foul, sordid.
# Subversive: Seeking to overturn or overthrow.
# Superfluous: Redundant, extra, more than is needed.

Behold the horror. TREMBLE IN AWE of the difficult - nay, impossible! - nature of their task.

No longer did I wonder at her pain. Alas, the abomination did not stop there. Test scores managed to plummet lower than the I.Q. of a mentally challenged fungus as students seemed to willfully deny education of any sort. One student, either extremely mentally deficient or rather kinky, was under the impression that "rebuke" actually meant "reward".

Now, I realize that some people have the benefit of higher learning or natural gifts, but when an adolescent girl with little more than a ninth grade education is twitching in fear of the stupidity in her future peers, there's a problem.

A problem that can only be solved with extreme violence, a wood-chipper, and quicklime.

I believe I was somewhere around when she was giving the condensed version of her frustration. It really does make me squirm in all ways unpleasant especially since these are the folks attending college. I seem to remember it being a smaller college, but nonetheless why the hell would anyone with that much of their brain replaced with cotton be accepted to anywhere beyond a primary educational facility! For ******** sake, where has the level of standard dropped? I can't even see the damned thing, and now I'm fearing I might have the dreadful experience of being nipped in the a** if I go looking for it.

*breathes* I love this forum. :3

rather have self-hatred than be self-absorbed It makes me rather open-minded
If I meet a girl who likes having sex a lot I dont think shes a whore
When I see someone do something embarassing I dont laugh at them.
I never say things to intentionally hurt anyone severly (aside from people on the internet no face=no problem)

on the other hand I'm self destructive, Apathetic, and slowly killing myself. And doing this all with a smile and a kick in my step. Not to mention I'm insanely shy :<

Its a double edged sword really ._.;
