The water had tasted so good after trying to hunt. It had been a fruitless effort, for the Mauve cub hadn't caught a single thing. She raised her head, swallowing the water in her mouth before looking at her own reflection. A pair of seemingly evil eyes stared right back at her, and her colors hadn't done any good to take off the evil impression. Perhaps they had been right...?
Angrily, Sauda swiped at her own reflection. The ripples distorted and shattered her image, though reformed itself again. A sigh threatened to leave her as she stared once again at her reformed reflection.

Spotting an unfamiliar pup was nothing new to him. The Wasteland was sure to be full of little ones, most of which he would have never laid his eyes on before. Yet, as he looked at her, he still fought his mind to recall ever seeing any creature with that particular color to their fur.
Gabriel edged up to the water, keeping a golden eye trained on the pup as he drank. He watched as she hit the water, wondering if she had spotted a fish, though hunting didn't seem to be the object to his eyes. "What troubles you?" His voice was soft, kind, his own eyes travelling to the water below. The hyena that looked back looked rather intimidating, causing him to wince slightly. When did all those scars get there? His torn ear flicked at his command, causing him to shake his head. He couldn't remember the pain of it tearing, or of any other badges of his wasted adolescence, but alas, there they were, telling him a story that he knew by heart.

At the sound of a voice, vermilion eyes glanced up to see another Hyena also taking a drink from the water. She looked back down, not wanting yet another to be freaked out by her devilish eyes. Sauda couldn't afford another enemy in the large Wasteland.
Although she didn't want to look at him, she had a small urge to answer the seemingly nice Hyena. "I'm hated for what I look like..." Sauda swiped a mauve paw at the water, small droplets falling into the dirt near her.

Glancing her way as she spoke, he wondered for a moment why anyone could hate based on looks alone. True, his strong hate of Mvyma had started like that, but had greatly intensified once he knew the bright colored devil. The white hyena took a cautious step towards her, asking gently. "Why ever? Your color is very nice, not at all offensive."

The compliment had taken her by surprise, and for a brief moment her lips curled up slightly into what could be called a smile. "Thanks..." Though she dropped the expression as she raised her head, looking at the white hyena with 'evil' vermilion eyes. "But it's 'cause I look like this, I'm hated... My eyes and strange pattern makes them judge..."

Looking into her eyes made Gabriel uncomfortable, part of which his mind laughed at, trying to make him see how foolish it was to be frightened by that. "I'm not judging you." It was a weak answer, and he knew it. His paws stayed at their places, refusing to move forward. A pup shouldn't scare him in the least, he tried to reason with himself, and failed. "It's not... that strange."

She saw him no longer moving, and looked away. "May not judge, but your afraid." Sauda moved her eyes to the white male's reflection in the water, since it was as much as she could look at without risking freaking him out. "But strange enough to make me disowned..." She muttered softly, sitting down on her haunches.

The fear in him seemed to die as she cast her glance in the water. The squire sighed quietly at her statement, speaking quietly. "Forgive me. I know it doesn't bring much a comfort, but things could be worse."

Large mauve ears flicked at the sound of his sigh, as she looked at herself in the water. "How could things be worse...?" For a brief moment, she eyes closed; hoping that if she opened them again that they could be a normal color. But she knew that was impossible... "Oh, and stranger... My name's Sauda..." She opened her eyes again, glancing at the white hyena's image in the water.

"I don't think you'd be all that fond of hearing my life's story." He stretched his limbs, trying to keep his mind from straying into the past unless it was required. "Sauda's a nice name. Mine's Gabriel."

"Was it...that bad?" She stared out across the water, to the other side of the bank. He had actually told her his name? Dare she allow herself to believe he was her...friend? "Thanks, Gabriel... That's a strong name... Nice one, too."

"I believe it would qualify as a living hell, Sauda." He turned his head away from the water so she would not see his face, in the event it would show his unhappiness. "Thank you. I'm rather fond of it myself."

A slight frown tugged at her when he turned away, but didn't look at the real him. "I'm sorry, Gabriel..." Her ears fell against her head, as she tried to give Gabriel's reflection a sympathetic look. But something in the back of her mind said that it didn't look that way.

At her apology, Gabriel's ears flicked back slightly. "It's far from your fault. Just... bad luck is all. A lot of it. I'm fine, now." He pointed out, turning back to look at her.

"I still feel bad... We all shouldn't suffer, no matter who they are." Her gaze turned back upon herself, to her watery reflection with a slight surprised expression. Had her eyes just glowed for a moment? She shook her head slightly, removing the thought from her head. That wasn't possible...was it? "That's good... That your fine now, I mean..."
