Quote:
Versumi, the world. Once at peace, now at war. This once prosperous world was the greatest in its system of five planets. The world held life on it, unlike the others, which was what made it different from any other. However, the world was not always this way. At one time, the world of Versumi was a barren planet, holding no life, and drifting in space.
The God of Creation, Jinsei, took pity on this world, transforming it into a lush, green planet, full of plants and animals of all kinds. The world was formed as a storehouse for magic. Every living creature on the planet had the ability to tap into great stores of magic, making it the most magical world Jinsei had created, yet. The inhabitants believe that Science was not needed, and was just a weaker form of magic, one with no true strengths within it.
This was the way the world was, holding many different types of races, such as Elves, Orcs, Humans, and many other similar races. They lived relatively in peace, but, that peace was soon to be shattered. A darkness followed Jinsei to Versumi. It is said, four hundred years after the world’s creation, a giant meteor fell from the sky, crashing into the ground. The ground then rose around the meteor, forming the tallest mountain range in the world. The mountains then grew dark, being covered in dark clouds that carried storms, both of which never seemed to move.
These mountains held a great magic, or so they seemed to. As such, the inhabitants of the planet desired to take the magic from the mountains, and claim it as their own. Because of this, the First Great War raged out. It was a war that all the races had been pulled into, and all the races fought with their strongest power.
As the war raged on, a beast came from the mountains, meeting with the leaders of each race, claiming to be the God of Destruction. First, he went to the elves with his proposal. He proposed to give them command of his army, an army stronger then any of the other races. He promised they could bring an end to the war, and bring about a new age for the elves.
At this time, the Elves were one race, lead by the three lords: El’Tier – The Moon King, Elirion – The King of the Trees, and Sylvania – The Queen of the High Temple. However, when the God of Destruction came and gave his promise, Sylvania accepted it, but neither Elirion nor El’Tier would. For this, Sylvania separated herself and her followers from the Elven race, saying that they were right to follow this God of Destruction, and the others were fools. They called themselves the High Elves, and banished the others. They then swore to protect the High Altar, an altar they forged to pray to the Goddess of Order, Belia. Belia gave unto them holy powers, along with Arcane Magic.
Seeing that Sylvania had accepted the God of Destruction’s promise, and had been swayed to his side, El’Tier declared war on the High Elves. Elirion, wishing not to have any part in the war, took his Elves and left, separating the Elves even more. Elirion and his followers ran to the woods, where they trained as rangers and soon gained the trust of the trees. Elirion and his race made the Goddess of Healing pleased, and she granted them power over nature, and, a hundred years after their separation, they re-emerged as the Wood Elves.
El’Tier then took the rest of the Elven race, renaming them the Drak-shal, or “Forsaken Ones.” Many would come to just call them Dark Elves, as the other races claimed they were the evil ones, and not Sylvania’s army. They created, then, an altar to the Goddess of Chaos, Necroasa, who blessed them, and gave unto them the Chaos Warriors. Thus, the Elves had split apart, and had each gained their own power. Since then, the Elves have been at war with one another. Neither side had advanced, while the Wood Elves had managed to stay out of the war completely.
After the separation of the Elves, the God of Destruction met with the human king, who was quick to join the beast’s side. Some humans objected, however, and when the king ordered anyone who objected to be executed at once, a large group of humans escaped to the mountains, where they dug homes, building grand cities under the stone. A hundred years later, around the time the Wood Elves emerged, these humans did as well. However, they were shorter, due to lack of sunlight, as well as fatter, ruder, and had long beards. They called themselves the Dwarves, and it was their race that began to look into Science, and ignore magic. The only magic the Dwarves even tried to work in was the magic of Runemastery, the magic that allowed one to place magical spells within weapons and items.
The God of Destruction was the leader of a large race known to many as Daemons, and others as Nightmares. They preferred the name Nightmares, as their job was nothing more then to destroy and strike fear into the hearts of all races. However, one particular species of Nightmare had a desire to be more peaceful then the others, and when the God of Destruction decided to join into the First Great War, this species ran off, hoping to find peace.
This species was known as the Minotaurs, a species of Nightmare that was half-human and half-bull. They fled to Versumi, and built a city called Caratoom. Hiding there for the remainder of the First Great War. As such, they managed to barely escape the war, and after the war, they joined with the Wood Elves and Dwarves, forming the Gray Moon Crusaders.
During the First Great War, the races were separated. The Humans and the High Elves had joined together to create the Forces of Light. They fought, long and hard against the Drak-shal, hoping to destroy them. However, Necroasa was not willing to let her people die. It was then, at the high point of the war, that the Orcs appeared. They were a race that had been hidden in the Main Continent, living within huts in the barren, desert land of Karagum.
When the Forces of Light attacked them for the sole reason of them not being a follower of the God of Destruction, they allied with the Drak-Shal, forming the Drak-Shanri. From there, the Forces of Light and the Drak-Shanri fought hard against one another, and the tide of battle began to change. It was then that the Seer of Ages was formed by Jinsei, an immortal being who would predict the futures. He predicted the coming of four heroes who would end the war, but no one ever listened. It was also from this that the fairies were created, being formed as the protectors of the Seer, and wielding the greatest magic power anyone had ever known.
It was forty years later before the truth about the God of Destruction was revealed. The war had spread out throughout almost the entire world, and even some of the smaller, more neutral races were forced to fight. Jinsei looked down upon the world and saw the fighting, and heard the cries of his people. So, he formed four beings who would hold the power to stop the war.
The first was Saria Elendil, a High Elf who Belia gave the power of the Paladin. She was the first Paladin, though Belia did not realize her true purpose. The second was a human by the name of Dracon Konichi, the first cleric. Many priests had existed before him, using healing powers, but Dracon was the first to use healing powers to harm undead, and other unholy beasts. That was what set him apart from the priests, because he knew more then just healing with his powers. The third was a Dark Elf named Scheris Séregon, the first of two Summoners ever born in this world. As a Summoner, she had the power to summon beasts of great power, but her magical power wasn’t as strong, meaning she knew how to summon, but that was pretty much all of her magic power. The last went by the name of Gladius, though his real name was unknown. Gladius was one of the Nightmares, though he was one of those who hated the God of Destruction. He was a strong warrior, fighting with only his bare claws.
It was by these four, The Heroes of Old, that Versumi was saved. On the brink of destruction, the four stood up against the God of Destruction, fighting long and hard against him. Saria was given the strongest powers a Paladin could wield, and was able to burst her sword into a white flame. With a touch, she could destroy nearly any Nightmare, which made her unstoppable in a fight against them.
Dracon, using his powers of healing, fought with Saria against the Nightmares, using his powers to harm them. The holy magic he had been given was strong, usually causing great pain to the Nightmares with a single spell. He was able to fight several at once by using spells that slowly did their damage to the Nightmares, racking them with pain for hours before they finally would die from the Holy magic.
Scheris, using her powers to summon creatures, fought with them, summoning monsters forth that were strong enough to fight the Nightmares. It was from her summons that magical lizards called Dragons came into existence. They held the power to stop the Nightmares, using their breath weapons to harm them. Scheris had brought upon the creation of not just the eleven Dragon Tribes, but also the Dragon Queen, Draconius.
Gladius, being a Nightmare himself, fought with the others. Since he was a Nightmare, he knew many of the weaknesses in the Daemons, and was able to get them out of several, heavy situations. Using only his bare claws, he could rip apart his enemies with ease. In the end, the four found their greatest challenge at the end of their lives, fighting the God of Destruction himself.
The battle against the God of Destruction raged on for days, neither side tiring out. It was a massive battle, a battle of witchcraft and sorcery, a battle of swords and shields, a battle of claws upon claws. As they fought, Jinsei worked on a spell that would seal the God of Destruction away for an eternity. In the end, his magic sealed the beast away, but the only way to do it was to seal away the Heroes of Old as well, and give them immortality. To this day, the Heroes of Old battle in an endless battle against the beast, fighting for an eternity in Limbo – the Realm Between Dimensions.
