A little bit of
......Dragon Lore
This is the story of creation that Nexis Dragons have passed on for centuries. Not all of them believe it, but few will say they outright deny it either, for fear of angering the gods who may or may not exist.
At the dawn of time, a mighty dragon watched the first sunrise as she flew through the air, over the world's endless waters below. When she had flown for a thousand days and nights, her wings began to tire, and she formed the first land so she could rest her weary wings.
The island is now called Nexis, but at the time it was just barren soil. As the great First Dragon rested, she tired of this boring landscape, she created six god-dragons, and instructed each of them to reshape a part of the island to their liking.
The first god was strict and harsh. She created the desert, where you had to work hard to survive.
The second god was wise and pensive. He created the mountains, where wisdom-seekers could retreat to think.
The third god was strange and unpredictable. She created the rainforest, with its deceptive beauty.
The fourth god was creative and curious. He created the open plains, where you survived on wits and surprise.
The fifth god was kind and gentle. She created the temperate forest, where everything was in balance.
The sixth god was wild and adventurous. He created the shoreline and bay, with dangerous rocky reefs and hidden coves.
Once they had finished work, all the gods and the First Dragon sat back to admire their work. Each god explained why they had made their land as they had, and showed the others what they had done. But when they were done, they were sad, because there was no one else who could appreciate their work.
And so the First Dragon created Life, and all the gods shaped it into creatures for their land. And then she created mortal dragons, and sent them to live in all parts of the island. The gods were pleased, and promised to protect their land and their dragons for all of time.
