Alright, I watched the movie the other day. It's one of my favourites. But aside from that, it's absolutely PACKED with subliminal messages. I have compiled a list of examples from the movie. This isn't really a debate, just wanted to share my opinions. Now, this movie is disturbing in alot of ways, besides the obvious personafication to inanimate objects.
1. Discrimination Toaster's name is toaster, Blanky is blanky and and radio blah blah and so forth. But.. The vacumn's name is Kirby. Why does only the vacumn get a name? Huh?! 2. Obvious Implication The first song sung by our little appliance friends is "The City of Light". Some of the lyrics in this song are - "Master is a man with a plan I can understand Master is a man of great reflection" Now who do you think of? Adolf Hitler! Doubt? Let's look at the next line. - "Master is a man who lays his hand across the land" Heil Hitler! The gesture the nazi's did is what the Radio is implying with his attennae.
3. Death When they reach the swamp/valley where all the animals are singing and dancing, it's an obvious scene of happiness. Until the toaster meets the flower. Upon catching it's reflection in the metallic surface of the toaster, the flower falls in love with the reflection. Or, in love with itself. The toaster pushes the flower away, saying, "No, silly.. I'm not a flower." and leaves. And then, the flower DIES. After falling in love with itself and being rejected, it DIES. Disney movie.. not a very good message to be sending to the kiddies. Not to mention the several times they are upon impending doom.
4. Murder After they are "rescued" from the swamp by the parts salesman, they are brought to his store and sung a song. This songscene scared the s**t out of me as a kid, basically. It's morbid and disturbing. Not only that, the appliances then witness the salesman disecting the blender to sell the motor. As the movie puts personafication to these appliances, we can only see this as MURDER! Cold heartless murder, they are witnessing!
5. Self Esteem The songscene in the master's new house sung by the new appliances basically states that they are better then the old applicances, and then shoves them out the window. The next song is sung by the cars in the junkyard. The song is called "Worthless" and the cars sing their experiences until they are MURDERED by the crunchying.. thingie.
Well this is all I can think of at the moment. Basically, you can either agree or disagree or bring up other disney movies and they're subliminal messages/conspiracies.
Now, this is all really for entertainment, it's not like I truly believe the movie is a conspiracy. Haha. So don't come posting, "OMG, if you actualy believe that you are an IDIOT". Thank you.

It would be much funnier if all the "conspiracies" came together to form one "message".... But then that would be suspicious... Still, I think if you tried you could somehow tie it all into Hitler... That wouldn't be too hard. And that would be funnier. biggrin
Still pretty awesome on its own, by the way.

I don't think kids movies need to be all skippy la-la. I watched that movie. At some parts, I said to whoever was in the room, "They shouldn't do that because blah blah blah!"

I thought of that, but all the other ones don't really have a connection to Hitler. But it would definately be funny if they were. And still the song.. I mean.. "Our master is a man with the plan.. He raises his hand across the land" ? I couldn't not think of Hitler. blaugh

I remember that movie! :O I don't remember whether or not is scared me as a little kid, but I still remember liking it. The only thing I didn't get was why the child in the story had such a fond attachment to appliances >.>

Alright, I just dug out my copy of the movie. Here's what I noticed.
Blankey and Toaster are an item. Lampy casually asks Toaster why he's being so nice to blankey, and they discussed all sorts of love metaphors. 'It's like being next to a new loaf of bread.' That sounds like toaster sex to me. He also described his feelings as being like a glow. Yeah, Blankey and Toaster are a couple. Toaster deserves better, but I don't think Lampy is into toasters.
There is a LOT of murder in that movie. I still can't get over that.
Kirby has a seizure. At the waterfall, he goes crazy and twitchy, and starts eating his own cord. 'Don't let him swallow it!'
I found a few other things, but I can't remember them. It was fun though.

Oh! And the Blanket is into S & M. That whole master/slave thing he's got going with the human is creepy. And the way he happily let the others use him as a tent. They go inside of him!

All I could think of at first was the CSI I watched tonight...found a girl's body in one of those "Crunchy" things.
Disney is full of subliminal messaging. Filled to the brim with it.

And here I thought this movie was just some fun. All those darkened images of deah. eek I also found the boy's interest in his old stuff disturbing. Some sort of wierd fetish perhaps?
Oh, don't forget the hint of subliminal messaging when the TV desperately tried to get the boy to listen by using every trick it knew.
