I started writing a fanfiction with the same title about a year ago but it just didn't fit so I changed it and now I'm writing a new fanfiction and using this.
It's a Kingdom Hearts fanfic and is really tough to write. It's a smart fic as I'd call it which means a lot of thought was put into it.
xD

Rating: T (Language and Violence)
Point of View: Varies from 1st to 3rd.
When 1st, Zexion is telling the story.
~Warning: Shounen-Ai~

Prologue:

It was a dark and stormy night. Okay, so it wasn't stormy but it WAS dark. That's how all nights are supposed to be, right? Without darkness, night would be day one would think. The truth is, without darkness, nothing would exist. There'd be no color, no light, no shadows. Nothing. I would know. I am nothing.

You see, light needs to stand against darkness to make it look brighter and darkness needs to stand against light to make it look darker. They intertwine in a destiny that's set for them. Nothing will change that as long as they are together. What happens to everything else? They get shoved in a huge, boring castle, forced to wear cloaks everyday, and have to do tasks assigned by their leader...or their leader's b***h. What are they, you ask? Nobodies. I am one of them and this is my story. It's going to be tough to tell and probably harder to understand but it needs to be said before the fate of all that exists, or in my case, doesn't, ends.

My name is Ienzo. Actually, that's what it used to be before I made the stupid mistake of carrying out Ansem's studies behind his back. Heh, I guess I should have listened to the old coot but this is what I get for being young and curious. The funny thing is, no matter how hard Even, Elaeus, and I research now, there's no turning back. I'm afraid that moving forward would be too dangerous but doing nothing at all would be more so.

My name now is Zexion and my partners, Even and Elaeus are now Vexen and Lexaeus. The other three scientists have new names too. Actually, one of them has two but I won't discuss that until later for...safety reasons.

I hope, by the time I finish writing this journal, it'll get to the right person before it's too late. I have to go. I smell Marluxia coming. He's the leader's b***h that I mentioned earlier by the way...at least when Saix isn't around.

Chapter One : De Nile.

Zexion stood over the burning stove of the Castle Oblivion kitchen, stirring the tea he was making with a wooden spoon. He had just woken up and hadn't bothered to change out of his pajamas. He knew it was against the Organization's dress code but at the moment, he didn't care. Xemnas wasn't watching over them anyway. Marluxia was. The Schemer poured the beverage into a pitcher, pored himself a cup, and slid the pitcher into the refrigerator. Dragging his slippers across the floor, Zexion made his way over to the table to meet Vexen reading over Xenahort's reports.

"You've read those a million times. It's not going to make a difference if you keep reading them and nothing happens." Zexion stated as he plopped down in the chair across from his lab-mate.

"No, no. I think I'm finally catching onto something here." Vexen replied, furiously scribbling down notes.

Zexion sighed. "Well could you go do that somewhere else? You're getting eraser shavings in my tea."

Vexen put the pencil down and looked up. "You don't care, do you?"

"Care about what?" the blue-haired boy asked, yawning.

Glaring, Vexen shook his head and sighed. He gathered his things and started to leave. "Just like Ienzo. Careless."

Zexion grimaced. "Why should I care? There's nothing we can do now. We can't turn back and we can't move forward. We're stuck."

"Did you ever think that maybe you're afraid?" Vexen asked, looking over his shoulder.

At this, Zexion stood up. "You know damn well I'm not afraid. None of us are because we don't have emotions."

"But you remember, don't you. You remember fear." Vexen left Zexion hanging with those last words. He went to his lab to work further into his research while Zexion stood there, thinking over what he had said.

'Remember...fear?' Zexion sat back down and sipped his tea before getting up to pour it down the drain. 'Stupid eraser shavings', he thought as he placed his mug in the sink and entered the basement in which his room was placed.

He took a shower and dressed in his usual black cloak. As he was about to leave his room, he smelled the scent of flowers. It was almost a ritual. Whenever he took a shower, he'd step out, get dressed, and smell flowers. He could have sworn that Marluxia was stalking him and that made him hate the man just that much more. Shrugging, he stepped out of the room and walked down the hallway to the stairs. Just as he expected, he was met by the Graceful Assassin on his way up the stairs. Usually, they met in the hallway. Zexion stood at the bottom step, watching as the man casually walked down the steps, a single hand delicately tracing the rail.

"Morning number six," the pink-haired god..erm man greeted smoothly. He flashed a smile that gave the Schemer goosebumps.

"Morning," Zexion replied, looking to the side as he rubbed one of his arms.

Marluxia smirked. "Cold, are we?" he asked, stopping at the bottom step to look Zexion in the face.

"Incredibly."

"Then we should turn the temperature up, hmm?" He said, placing a hand under Zexion's chin.

"I suppose," he replied, moving his head away from Marluxia's hand. 'What is with this guy?' Zexion thought but his mind became cloudy when he inhaled.

The strong scent of cherry blossoms filled his senses and made him weak. If there was anything that really could, it was the smell of Sakura. Thats also a reason he normally avoided Marluxia. Zexion's knees felt like jello and he clung to the rail to support himself.

"Are you okay?" Marluxia asked, placing a hand on the other boy's shoulder. The words seemed to echo in Zexion's mind. It took him a while to reply. Shutting his eyes, the Schemer spoke. "I-I'm just f-fi-" His grip on the rail loosened and he fell forward, blacking out. The last thing he remembered was that he had been caught by Marluxia.

"Zexion!!"
