Alcuin hurried into the first empty room he found, quickly shutting the door behind him. Once he was sure there was no one to see, he let the pain show in his face as he removed his shirt, revealing a dragon tatto, the deep blue scales gleaming in the dark room as they wound their way around his body. The dragon almost seemed alive as Alcuin's muscles strained and rippled against the pain that scourged his body along the dragon's trail.
He let out a grunt and stumbled to his knees. "Stop dammit! I didn't break any of the rules."
A deep voice seemed to fill the room, though a person standing just outside the door wouldn't have heard anything. "Do not forget the reason I let you go Alcuin." The voice dripped contempt as it spoke his name. "You can look all you want, but you will...not...touch."
Pain flared through Alcuin's body, emphasizing the voice's words. He curled up in a tight ball, as though to defend himself from the pain, despite the fact that he knew there was no defense against it. Pain and hate filled his voice as he cried out. "I know! I know! I won't, I promise. But it's hard. I want..."
The voice rang out in mocking laughter. "Off course you want, little man. That's half the fun. For me at least." The laughter dropped from the voice, being replaced with a tone of pure menace. "Do not forget the price of failure Alcuin."
Alcuin's body was on fire. His words were barely intelligable through his screams. "I won't! I won't! I promise! Just please, please make it stop!"
Mocking laughter filled the room again, slowly fading, taking the pain with it. Alcuin lay on the floor for a long time, panting and shaking in the aftermath of the pain. Eventually, he forced himself to his feet and stumbled to the bed. He lay in the pitch black room, equally dark thoughts running through his head, until he eventually fell into an exhausted sleep.

As Alcuin entered his room, the pain hit him. Not severe enough to drop him to his knees, but enough to convey his master's disapproval. He staggered against the door, letting out a pained grunt. The too familiar dark voice filled his head. "What game are you playing Alcuin? You're coming dangerously close to breaking my rules with that girl."
Hate glared from Alcuin's eyes as he tried to keep his voice under control. "I'm playing your game.....Master." His mouth twisted at the word and, despite his best efforts, he couldn't keep all of the distaste out of his voice. He quickly continued, hoping the owner of the voice hadn't noticed. "You want me to get close to these people. To become trusted. But not to give my true purpose away. What better way than to secure the...affection of one of the regulars? She can be my eyes. And my hands, if need be."
The pain slowly receded and the voice chuckled. "You do play a dangerous game, Alcuin. Are you so sure of your...charms to think you can use this girl against her freinds?"
Alcuin let out a derisive laugh. "Do you really need to ask that question? This one isn't nearly as strong willed as...others I've seduced. A few hours with her and she'll do anything I ask."
Mocking laughter rang thorugh the room. "So arrogant Alcuin. So sure of your powers of persuasion. Don't forget what happened the last time you grew too sure of yourself." The voice paused before continuing. "Over confident you may be, but by all means, continue to explore this avenue. Just remember the rules. Look but-"
Alcuin interrupted the voice bitterly. "Don't touch. I know. How could I forget? It's hell."
The voice gave an indulgent laugh. "Ah, but that's the point dear Alcuin. That's the point." The voice grew stern. "Woo the girl, see where it takes you, so long as you follow the rules. You've made very little progress Alcuin, and I grow impatient."
The voice faded and Alcuin knew he was free for the moment. Or, at least as free as was possible under this damnable circumstance. "Oh, don't worry, I won't break the rules." A sadistic grin spread across his face. "I think I'll enjoy seeing how far they bend however." With an evil chuckle he undressed and headed to bed.
