Today my mom best friend gave me some stuff in a box and in that box was a piece of wood that looked like the back of a bird house. It's a clean untreated piece of wood but when I put it on the table my cat started to sniff it and then...she got high. She was drooling and rolling around and kinda got a bit excited, she was even licking and chewing it. When I took it away she kept looking at it like she wanted more. My mom said she think it's cedar and it apparently has the same effect as catnip. We don't know how she behaves with catnip cause we never gave her any.
>Does anyone know what wood does that to a cat?
>Should I be worried about the effects on her?
She is also a first time mom. Her babies are 2 weeks old. The first week, she did great. This week I'm not so sure, our male cat tried to mount her again so we had to lock her up instead of letting her roam free. Now she will not nurse in front of me like she did before and anytime I go in there she seems to neglect the kittens even when it seems they are hungry. She would rather rub up against me. Today one of the kittens started licking my finger.
>Is that normal for a 2 week old kitten?
>How can I tell if she is nursing them enough?
>should I be worried about the effects of the wood on the kittens?
I can't tell if Casey(finger licker) is lethargic or just has a calm disposition like his dad. He and the rest seem to be healthy. Eyes are bright and they're crawling around, the other 2 seem to be playing already. Casey was the largest born but now seems to be the smallest.
>Should I be worried about that?
