Because little guys are cute, that's why. At least they can't boss you around when you are multiple times their size. ^^
However, that doesn't mean one can't be nice to them, as well.

Well one of my irl friends I role-play with constantly plays giant characters, she says she likes the power and well that it makes all those smaller oh so cute

I'm not really sure. It actually developed before I hit puberty, oddly enough. I first remember liking the idea of macrofemalia at the age of 6...
I suppose it's my dualistic personality. I love being dominated, and hate it, at the same time. I'm odd like that.
Which is why in GTS roleplays, if the giantess is "evil", I'm usually the guy spearheading the attempt at taking her down... and doing a damn good job of it.
However, I do prefer gentle giantesses... though I cannot deny that part of me is... excited... by the other kind.

I've always been into it. I thought I was alone in this until one day I got curious and checked around online and found a lot of giantess communities. I'm always surprised to meet girls who are naturally into it on their own.

I just really enjoy the feeling of coming across say, a dozen centimeter-size men(technically I'd be a giantess XP), and whether I see them or not, i'd 'accidentally' eat them one by one. Whether one fall into my cereal, stick to a piece of gum, or what have ya. ^-^
