Cool! A CV thread.
Has anyone seen this before:
User Image
A friend of mine said it was an ending of Aria of Sorrow but a lot of members at the CV guild said there was no such thing. I like the pic anyway. How about you guys?
BTW, I love CV! It's one of my most favorite sagas and my avatar has something to do with it. It's some kind of fan work if you will. mrgreen

Symphony of the Night was the first Castlevania that really got me into the series. I've not played all that much of the others yet to tell you the truth. I've played quite a lot of Dawn of Sorrow, but it gets confusing after a while, and though I am on the last leg of the journey in Lament of Innocence, I want to get all of the relics and a few of them are a real pain in the arse, so I gave it a rest for a while.

I think I'm just obsessed with Alucard in general though.

That's nice. But you haven't picked up SotN again in a while, right? I would if I could but I don't have a way to play it anymore (my PS2 broke down).
But wow! You want all the relics in Lament? Good luck! I only missed the crystal skull but since it was impossible to obtain I said "screw this!" and I just forgot about it. I mean, after killing 1000 mirage skeletons it gets old real fast. rolleyes I hated that Leon couldn't level up so that he could get rid of enemies quicker. stressed

I've been playing SotN on the Xbox 360 as you can download it from Xbox Live Arcade for 800 Microsoft points. In the UK, you can buy 2400 points for £16.99, so buying SotN on the 360 is extremely cheap!

It's been so long that I played the game beforehand that I'd forgotten a lot about the inverted castle. Grrrr....

Wow! That sounds great Mel! Now if only I could get an X-box360... confused

You know, I have Portrait of ruin and the co-op mode is quite something but, I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would. If anyone wants to play, my friend code is: 3995-3701-1021

I noticed this one time I connected: I chose a file that wasn't about Jonathan & Charlotte and when the game started we were practically unbeatable but Charlotte couldn't use pretty much anything except for her lil book (the one she starts with). I wonder if it's cuz I chose a non J&C file or if it was cuz the partner was using a cheat device. Hmm... rolleyes

Unfortunately the DS is region-coded when it comes to interacting with other people. It's not region-coded when it comes to playing games, so I could play any version of a DS game, but with interacting with friends, they have to have a copy of the game from the same region. I tried this with my ex boyfriend with Final Fantasy III. I have the European version of the game and he has the US version. Both copies will play on any DS, but when I tried to enter his friend code it wouldn't work, and nor would mine work on his. Yet when I added a friend code from the same region, it worked fine.

I've picked up Dawn of Sorrow again anyway! I've just defeated the Bat Company. Gergoth was a REAL pain in the arse, Rahab was too easy, and Zephyr was....a pain in the arse but not so much as Gergoth.

What or who IS the flying thing in the sky by the way?

I like CV, but I don't actually have the patience for it! Just like Mel knows, it's annoys me to an extent. I mean Marc (My boyfriend...) he loves it and used to play it all the time.

Yet I have to say CV is a rather awesome game to play when you want to set in a totally puzzle frenzy.

To be fair, you've only really played Lament of Innocence, and the side-scrolling CV games are so much better.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2007 3:20 pm

What!? Friends codes have to be from the same region? That stinks! stressed
And here I was hoping we could play... Oh well. I am not gonna erase my friend code just in case anyone with the US version feels like looking me up.

Really? That's great! DoS for me was pretty much as good as SotN and I enjoyed it as much. The small flying enemy just before Zephyr's room btw is a kind of enemy you have to beat to get the full enemy list. Wanna know how? Just use the soul of the mandragora in that room (no matter where the flying man is), and you'll beat it. Easy!

Ah, well... If Mandy started with Lament then I guess I understand why she got annoyed. Lament is good but it's way too short and there are things that can be a pain in the arse to obtain. If you want a great 3D CV experience, you should really pick up Curse of Darkness. 3nodding
And yes, you should also play one of the newest CV in 2D for the DS. Those are awesome! Especially PoR; this one topped SotN for me. wink

How could it top SotN? Vampires that want to eradicate their prey is a stupid idea! Granted I've not played much of Portrait of Ruin yet, but...but...but but....SotN! Maybe I'm just way too obsessed with Alucard. sweatdrop

I found it to be much more engaging to be perfectly honest. I've only been playing Dawn of Sorrow so much recently because I just want to play more of the series. I've got that soul now by the way, a friend of mine told me before I looked at your message darnit. I'm now at the very end of the game trying to beat Menace. Grr. It's not the giant demon that's the problem, it's the blasted little box-shaped things with rows of jagged teeth that are the real problem!

I'll probably play Portrait of Ruin next, although I do need to complete SotN. I've played SotN so much and yet haven't completed it yet. I got right to the end on my crappy PS1 version (purely because it was £25 off eBay, I got friend to order it for me, sent the money to him, and it was only the game disc - as stated, so it didn't have the music cd, or artbook with it), and then couldn't find the end bosses. So I left it for a while, have the guide now (though that doesn't tell you where to go in the Inverted Castle - and it's the official guide too), and I have the much better version on the 360 because it was only 800 Microsoft Points which is equal to about £3 or £4 and the graphics have been enhanced.

Why PoR tops SotN? Oh my lord, where should I begin!? Tell ya what! I'll come by some other day for that cuz I have very lil time right now.

Got that soul? Cool! There are two others that have a trick to obtaining them you know? Got 'em yet? One is the abominable snowman and the other one is the moth. If you want to know how to get them out of hiding I'll tell you.
The final boss is not a problem if you have the Buer's soul at full power. As it can protect you from a lot of stuff, like the medusas. Also, Slogra's soul is awesome against it when you combine it with Gaibon's soul. Both have to be at full power if you want to see them at their best.

Wow! That's something. Best of luck replaying SotN then! wink

Well I am already in the Inverted Castle again, but I've neglected it for a little while to play Dawn of Sorrow......WHICH I COMPLETED LAST NIGHT!!! Yay!
I'm now playing through Julius mode, but I'm searching for that certain disguised blonde dhampir.........
cool

Found him!

Anyway I've now started playing Portrait of Ruin. It's fun but it's not going to top SotN for me.

I'm glad you found Alucard. It's too bad they made his fireball attack so lame. I wish he could disappear like always but... rolleyes Aside from that, DoS has a lot of cool things that made me like it just as much as SotN.
So, do I still need to post my reasons for liking PoR a bit more than SotN?
