We have an entire forum devoted to sharing artwork--so here, finally, is a spot for writers. Whether it's an RP post you're particularly proud of, a poem, a short story...etc; you can place it here before the eyes of the public and hear their opinions. Commentary is welcome and encouraged as long as it's constructive and respectful.

Here is a poem that I wrote just before my long abscence. Read and enjoy.
Days of Heaven
Sunny days at the sea White sand, so soft and warm oh cerulean sea, flow across my feet cool me with your gentle touch
A white satin dress decorated with small forget-me-nots flowing in the gentle breeze making me believe I'm in heaven
A pure white shell in the sand mother of pearl gleaming within soft colors like in a heavenly dream
Swallows cutting through the air chasing tiny bugs butterflies dancing without sound from flower to flower
Glittering sea so tempting and blue like the sky above me and clear like crystal glass
Refreshingly cool floating in it staring at the sky and clouds dreaming of a neverending summer
Light steps in the sand joyful leaps in the water gazing towards the horizon where a red sun is setting
A sight of uttermost beauty making the water gleam like liquid rubies scattered in the sand

Oooh...lovely imagery. ^_^ I was easily drawn in by the words. A question though...can glass be crystal? I thought that crystal was a sort of stone and glass was sand eated at VERY high temperatures...though I don't know much about either, so I could be wrong. confused

You are right, but there is a type of very fine glasses that is called crystal. They are often used in fine parties or big dinners and in restaurants. They are very expensive also. And it's not only glasses, you can get bowls, goblets and large plates. The bowls and the plates are very heavy.

This is a poem I wrote for a school project--it was based off of a character in the book The Things They Carried, so you can't fully understand it unless you've read it...but oh well. I'll just stick it here anyways. ^_^
Mary Anne
A world unbroken by man’s troubles— A kingdom yet unsung A world constantly growing So that it’s forever young.
Yet underneath the Always New There lies a strong foundation. Still untouched by our destruction— It’s lain there since Creation.
This magnificently savage place By darkness was revealed And when I enter it I am Enveloped and concealed.
There’s a beauty in this wilderness A beauty you don’t know… A beauty I will never see Unless you let me go…
You just don’t understand, you see Perhaps you never will… It has become a part of me That will not part until—
It ceases to exist. And on that day, trust you me; It won’t just be the jungle that has gone— For I will cease to be.
And yet you still stare at me blankly… A puzzle piece you seem to lack: I’m in a place you don’t belong And I’m not coming back.

I like your poem the-subtle-knife, even though I haven't read the book you speak about I like it. Especially the effect at the end of the poem where you've made it look like there is two different voices speaking.

Thanks! ^_^ Although it wasn't two different people--Luna was pretty close, with the two different voices. The poem was meant to be an explanation from Mary Anne to a man she'd been planning to marry before she fell in love with the jungles of Vietnam. She became a whole new person...and the second voice is sort of her inner monolouge. Though I'm not entirely sure of what I was actually thinking when I wrote it that way... confused I think it was just an odd whim.
