The sun was just setting...it's twilight. Students are doing random activities, some still playing, some studying, some prepairing for sleep. D is in his office going through some new papers when he feels something...a tremor? Wait, we're not near a fault...That can only mean...D stands slowly as the tremors get more frequent and larger...almost like...footsteps. he looks out the window of his office and sees a small army of robots in the distance making an advancement.
"...Sentinels..."
He darts back to his desk and presses the panic button under the edge, causing an alarm to echo through the school.

((Conditions: We're under attack by giant robots. Plural. More than one. Please keep in mind these things aren't exactly easy to take down. This will be a test of teamwork.

Objectives: Help defend the grounds! Any means!

I will announce in awhile when the sentinels arrive and begin their attack, so the beginning is for preparations.

MISSION START!!!))

))*Jump starts activity*!((

Feathers of pure darkness scattered around him, a man sat apon a tombstone... such a sight he was, the shadows licking up at him, crimson eyes reflecting the dimming light of the sun, there was a faint outline of dark wings at his back, a raven imbuned with a soul of one of the dead around here perched apon his wrist.

Such a dark being, you would think that it wasn't at all odd to see him there. Pristine white trench coat brushing against the murk of the grave, and yet never being tainted. He seemed to glow...

Almost like he belonged there. Surround by dark things and spiritual beings, which made themselves slightly visible, orbs darting round like fireflies, clearly excited by his presence.

But if you knew this man, you would find this sight quite odd indeed, for he had always seemed to despise graveyards, lips often curlin gup in distaste whenever a funeral was mentioned. So why was he here now? Simple... he kissed the raven on its beak and released it into the sky where it would fly to the heavens, the light of the sun disentigrating it so that the soul inside could fly higher still...

He could taste a battle coming... and he didn't want distractions. Raising his hand, another crow would take perch, one of the orbs plucked from the air by two slender white fingers and pressed into the breast of the bird...

He was simply waiting. He wasn't worried. He'd lived for almost three hundred years there was little he feared any more.

Another boy, lurking at the edges of the forest, also seemed to taste the encroaching danger. White hair tousled by the wind that swept through the trees, you could hardly tell that he was blind, the way he moved so easily... but you also wouldn't be able to see his guiding figures. Small fairies, thair bodies shades of green and brown, making them blend into the back drop scenery.

He wasn't really worried either. Some times he wondered if he really had emotions. He'd encountered many people recently, and yet so far he'd only felt an attatchment to one because of the artistic link... He had yet to make any friends.

Friends... he paused for a moment in his bramblings to wonder on the word... he'd read in the library... or rather had read to him (rather poorly) a story that had stirred up his thoughts. Friendship... apparently their were different kinds.... he hoped to learn brail soon, but so far had found no teacher int he matter... how depressing to him.

Depression... that was an emotion right? Sadness, anger, worry, hope... all emotions he was learning to cheerish... but he was still struggling. There was still much he didn't know about the outside world... still much he was trying to learn. Interacting with people he didn't know was still awkward and he tended to keep to himself because of it... which wasn't helping him in his 'quest' for friendship...

But none of this had anything to do with the up comming threat. He would have to fight... but he could hear the clanks of metal, the heavy footsteps... they were large, and they would be difficult to defeat... how could he work with people he hardly even knew? He hoped to find out soon...

))I'll bring in Artemis and Nai-na later. ((

Tali had been sitting in the library reading when she felt the floor tremble beneath her feet. Her first reaction was to frown and ignore it. She had felt a couple of tremors until she looked up to see dust fall down from the ceiling. Snapping her book shut, she ran to the teacher's office.
"D, What's happening?" She asked in a mild panic.

D turns and sees the gir standing in the door, but before he can say anything...
"D!"
Kira slides in the door and around Tali. He's out of breath.
"Sentinels! And there's a lot of em!"

"I've never faced one..."
He walks to the door and ushers the two out before shutting it behind him. He walks along the hallway with the two.
"I've only heard stories...stories of these giant robots that stop at nothing to take down any mutant they detect..."

Kira speaks up.
"They've taken most of Haven before! If not for me and the rest of the team back then, Haven would have been destroyed long before Omega got here..."

(Right! Ok, no more skim-reading! I didn't like that post anyway.)

Tali spun on her heel and ran to find Leo. He was in the main room listening to music. "Leo!" No response. "LEO!" She marched over to him, and, hearing the faint, metallic sound of tiny speakers, yanked them from his ears. "LEO." She stood there with her hands on her hips, looking down at him.

"WHAT?" He yelled back at her, partly because of temporary deafness. "What's going on?" He stood in a hurry, getting a sense of urgency from her body language, as well as the way she just appeared in the room!

"There are sentinels. Lots of them. Kira said so. They have taken this place down before. What are we going to do!?" She was returning to her panic, knowing that she was practically useless, and he couldn't exactly absorb strength from machines...

"We'll find a way to work with everyone else." This wasn't a time to panic... Yet. "Come on."

User ImageMichael sat up in bed, the wailing of the alarm rousing him from sleep. Half asleep, the mutant turned around and glanced out the window, where he could sense a large number of hulking shapes moving beneath the twilight sky. Since someone had bothered to set off the alarm, the ominous masses were clearly hostile and highly dangerous.

What concerned Michael the most, however, was that they were currently interrupting his quiet time. He silently observed the Sentinels for a moment, his stony features showing a hint of annoyance. With a deep, regretful sigh, the boy realized that he was actually going to have to get up and do something this time.

Moving at a leisurely, unhurried pace the teen slipped on a dark blue bathrobe--along with a pair of fuzzy slippers--having deciding that the time it would take him to strap on his 'battle gear' wouldn't be worth the time and effort. Michael snatched up his bo staff as he trotted out the door of his room and down the hall, deciding it'd be best to get this over with quickly if he wanted to salvage what was left of his late afternoon nap.

User ImageMika glanced up from her racing game as the siren wailed throughout the school, her eyes widening slightly. Unfortunately she had been trying to make a turn a that very moment, and the distraction caused her car to veer to the side, crashing and taking out a small group of digital bystanders. Uttering a short curse in Japanese as the words 'Game Over!' flashed on the screen, the child closed the program down, quickly tapping into Haven's communications and surveillance networks via her computer. Mika slipped a small headset over one ear and cued in on the headmaster's location, then opened a link.

"--D, have you identified the hostiles yet?" she asked through his earwig, the normally childish tone of her voice subdued by the seriousness of things. It made her sound strangely mature over the radio. "They're still out of camera range, so I don't have a bead on them yet."

Riven had heard the Sentinels' approach long before the alarm had gone off. When he heard the disturbance, he had put it off as an earthquake or a mutant abusing his powers, but after noticing the consistancy and increasing amplitude he had to check. He had made his way to the rooftop, hoping to find the source, but his vision was blocked by tree's and other obstacles. A strange feeling dwelled inside of him. What was approacing Haven? Why would anything be coming here? What is going on...?

Kairi's eyes shot open at the piercing sound, startled. The blue orbs darted to the alarm system and stared in worry. Her once quiet room was filled with the chaotic sound and she was put into a state of panic. Instinctively, she went to the window to look at what may be going on. There wasn't any hints of any commotion, but she noticed someone on the roof. If he was alert, then something was definetly going on. Zeine...

D shakes his head and speaks plainly.
"Sentinels...if I'm right."
His tone is a grave one that he rarely uses.
"Kira! Did you catch how many?"

"I stopped counting over eight."
Kira himself, possibly one of the most calm collected people on campus, seems a bit nervous.

From out of apparently nowhere comes the short guy with the mushroom head.
"What the heck is up with the sirens?"
He seems to have been asleep.

"We're about to be under attack."
The usually quiet Lance is now standing by the elevator to the subbasement holding the door open.

"Mika, bear, would you tap into the intercom and tell everyone who's able to fight to meet in the briefing room?"
He stands next to Lance and helps motion people to the elevator.
"And while you're at it, tell anyone who wishes to hide to head to the nearest elevator and get to the saferoom downstairs."

Pruna was concentrating on a book. A lovely book she had taken with her from home. It was a book about the mechanics in complex circuits and it interested her greatly. She was just about to finish the chapter about resistors when she heard a strange sound she hadn't heard before. It almost sounded like...

She got her mind back to reality, off the book. She closed it and put it down on the desk she had been sitting at in her room. She shoved her chair backwards and looked around her. It sounded like... an alarm. No... It was an alarm.

She frowned, stepping out of her door to see if she could see anyone who actually knew what was going on. She'd do that first, before she'd panick, or whatever she did... She wondered why the alarm had gone off like that. Was there a fire?

She decided that the best way of finding someone was to go down to the hall. Certainly some people would pass by that place? She hurried down the stairs and looked around. Ah.. indeed, peole were here.

"Excuse me?" She asked, knowing that whomever would answer to her, they might not know the answer. "Do you have any idea what's going on?"

The sounds kept getting louder over time causing Zeine to worry. Partly because an alarm had sounded, confirming that whatever was approaching wasn't friendly, but also because they haven't been given any intructions. This made him go by instinct, which although he trusted, had gotten him into a few bad situations.

Even through all of the comotion on and off the Haven campus he still managed to hear someone's call. He glanced down to see a girl, Pruna, if he remembered correctly. "Somethings approaching Haven," He answered from the rooftop, "and apparently it isn't friendly."

Pruna looked around her. She had heard a voice speak. Someone had answered her question. Only just before Zeine had finished answering her question, she figured out where his voice had come from: The rooftop. She smiled, she should have figured it out earlier.

She looked up at the figure. He had said something unfriendly was approaching Haven.

"Do you know what it is?" She called another question as a reply to the answer she had gotten.
Actually she guessed not, or Zeine would probably have said so.

It did appear a bit scary to her. Something was approaching and she had no idea what. Hopefully it'd not be something she wouldn't be able to fight off.

"You read my mind hun," she replied, already accessing the PA system through another window on her computer. Unseen to the others, the young girl's eyes had taken on a mischievous, hopeful gleam at the mention of Sentinels. She though she had never fought with the giant automatons before, she looked forward to the 'battle' ahead of her. Robots were just computers at their core, after all... and Mika wanted some new toys to play with. She picked up her laptop and started towards the briefing room, wanting to arrive there ahead of the others.

"And dearest--" the youngster said with a grin as she started to move, "--could you be a good boy, see about leaving one of them mostly intact? Your dear Mother would like to poke around with the pieces a bit and see if she can cook up something something interesting." With that somewhat cryptic statement, Mika closed the line and moved her attention over to the broadcast.

"Attention everyone," she began, her serious voice echoing throughout the halls of the school. "This is an important announcement--we're about to come under attack! At this moment, there are a number of hostile Sentinels quickly approaching the school grounds. The headmaster has requested for battle capable students and staff to report to the briefing room immediately. Anyone who wishes to wait this battle out should take the elevators to the safe room in the basement..."

Mika paused to lean one hand against the wall, taking deep breaths of air. Running while talking was hard work, especially since she was so small. After a few seconds she moved the microphone back over her mouth, continuing.

"... At this time, I'd like to remind everyone to play it safe and work together. This situation could turn deadly if we're not careful, but with teamwork and courage, we should be able to pull through." She smiled grimly as she finished up, hoping that would be the case.

"--That is all for now. Stay alert for further updates." With that, the young Japanese girl switched off of the address system and ran along, headed for the meeting room.

User ImageShortly after hearing the announcement, Michael shrugged his shoulders and continued to walk on, disappearing into a fold in space after a few more steps. An instant later the pajama-clad mutant materialized in the briefing room, where he lazily sat down on the nearest chair. Leaning back with his his wooden staff tucked in the crook of his arm, the young man quietly tapped his slippered foot as he waited for the others to show. Michael's quick arrival once again demonstrated a major benefit of his powers--travel time was never an issue.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 19, 2007 2:32 pm

'Sentinels..' After the announcement, that was the first word running through her mind. Those things were large machines. It happened to be that she always.. panicked around large machines. And yet she could be so useful if she could only learn how to concentrate. Her special ability was to control machines with her mind after all. No matter what they were programmed to do.

She could go and hide... this attack was maybe much too scary for her to participate in the battle with Haven's attackers. But then again, she'd not attack those machines alone...

Without thinking one last second about it, she started to make her way back and further into the school. She had asked Zeine a question, and it had been answered by Mika over the intercom.

After a short walk, Pruna arrived at the briefing room like instructed. She slowly entered, already feeling a bit out of place. Not so many people were there yet. Then she went to sit down in a chair. Just a random chair that wasn't taken yet. She looked at everyone who was already inside the room once, nodding at them to say hello. And that was it. She waited after that for what would happen next.

Before Zeine could respond, the a voice came through on the intercom and confirmed what he believed. He glanced back towards the distance in hopes of getting a better visual detail of the Sentinels that approached them. This time, he could make them out. It was a rather large force, and for a school of young mutants. This didn't make much sense to him and hoped that the meeting in the briefing room would clear it up for him.

He made his way there by simply walking, not wanting to exhaust any of his powers or physical energy. He'd probably need all of it in the upcoming battle. Unexpectedly, someone whom he was glad to see crossed paths with him and joined on his way to the room. "So... you're going to fight, Kairi?"

She nodded and gave him a concerned look, but not that of her own sake but the sake of others. The reason Zeine had mentioned her participation in the battle was because she didn't have many offensive capabilities, nor did she have experience in combat. Even with these negatives, her power made her a great addition to any fight and she wanted to prove her worth.

When the finally reached the room, Kairi sat down in a chair, but kept her concerned appearance as Zeine refused to sit and made his way to a nearby wall, setting his hand against the surface. Though it appeared as if he was trying to maintain his composure and balance, only Kairi and D would really know what he was doing.
