~Introduction/Setting~
It is said that hell is reserved for sinners. Some say it is an icy, cold, and barren world of rock, while other claim it to be a burning wasteland where sinners’ souls burn in torment. However, if you asked most any spirit of the deceased about hell, they’d be likely to point you to a lonely, abandoned looking four story mansion at the top of a forsaken, sad hill quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Anywhere else, and the shrieks from that decrepit house would surely attract many of the living. As it is, few living souls find themselves there, whether on purpose or by accident and those who do often go quite crazy and come out changed people indeed, if they leave the ancient mansion at all. This little hell, as any spirit could tell you, is well-known as The Home of Restless Souls.

Lefu looked in an old cracked mirror, twisting her hair around her finger. Her uncle had enchanted it for the resident spirits' use - one couldn't naturally see a spirit's reflection, even a spirit herself. Lefu sighed, wishing her now foggy image could be solid again. She could not remember how long she had been dead by now, but she still yearned to be living. "I know how you must feel, Niece." Mulogo entered the room and wrapped his arm around Lefu's shoulder "You really ought to socialize more with the other spirits here." "Hello, Uncle Mulogo," said Lefu, smiling slightly. "You tell me that every day. Most of the spirits here are more concerned with pranks and the fact that they're dead than socializing. You know that." The sorcerer laughed shook his head. "Then why don't I teach you how I enchanted that mirror you like so much." Lefu's smile widened. "Oh, please, do!" she begged, bouncing on the balls of her feet, excited.

Forbush lifted her head to sniff the air wafting into the hollow tree. She became aware of the voices coming from the old mansion. She thought to herself, as the voices found her ears, " I know I've heard those voices before, but who are they?" She was a prisoner inside the tree, and of her own fate. Time seemed to stand still. The past was long forgotten.

Mugolo patiently taught his niece the trick of enchanting mirrors. It made him happy to see her so delighted. "You've got it!" he was able to exclaim truthfully after some time. Lefu smiled. "Thank you, Uncle," she said, giving Mugolo a hug. "My pleasure, Lefu," Mugolo replied with a smile of his own. "Say, why don't you take a walk with me? I think I sense a waking spirit nearby. "I'd love to, Uncle," said Lefu, and they left the mansion together. Half way towards the well on the mansion's premesis, Mugolo stopped, standing near a hollow, dead tree. "Hear that?" he asked. Lefu nodded."Can you sense her?" "Yes. There's a spirit right where we are."

Forbush knew, suddenly, that there was a presence nearby. It was as though the feeling came from another relm. "Why, though," she thought to herself, "Why did it feel as though she knew them from another time and place?" She moved closer to the wall of the tree that held her prisoner. She put her ear to the wall to listen for the strangers.

Mugolo tapped the trunk of the hollow tree. "Say, spirit, can you hear me and understand me? Is this where you live? I am the spirit of the sorcerer Mugolo, can you remember who you are?" "Oh, Uncle," Lefu implored. "You do ask new spirits too many questions at once. I dare say, give her some time to organize her thoughts." "You speak the truth, Neice." Mugolo laughed at himself. "I do not mean to rush you spirit. Take your time." He said to the tree, hoping that he had found the right spot, for even the greatest of sorcerers can make so simple a mistake.

Forbush quickly moved back away from the wall of the tree. Taken aback from the voice that was just outside her fortress. "Ummm, I am Forbush. I have been asleep and now I am awake. I don't know for how long I was asleep," she slowly got out the words as best she could, "Who are you?" She didn't realize that she had not awoken, but had died many years before and had just now became aware of her new existance.

"I am Lefu," said the young woman. "And my uncle, the sorcerer Mugolo, is the man who has just spoken to you. We are the long dead keepers of the mansion on the hill. If you wish, you may join us there. It is a home for spirits." Mugolo, who had been looking quite lost in thought while Forbush and his neice were talking, at long last spoke himself. "I believe I remember you. Are you not the sprite who once lived in this tree before it died?"
