Name: Jimmy Black
Age: 54
Gender: Male
Occupation: Rat catcher
Appearance: Jimmy has a noticeable roman nose, a strong jaw and high cheek bones. He’s pretty skinny and wrinkly - age catching up on him. His skin is quite tanned and he has thinning, scruffy grey hair that limply hangs down past his ears. He has grey eyebrows that looks as ragged as his hair. His eyes are bright green and sharp, but his teeth are yellow with a few missing and broken.
Jimmy wears a long dark brown coat, covering his woollen shirt and long brown trousers, during work he often tucks his trousers into braced socks to stop the rats from running up them. He wears a top hat for show when roaming the streets and carries a long stick with a loop of rope at the end for catching rats live that he puts into a sack.
Personality: Jimmy is a nice man, but there’s always something that makes you think he’s not completely trustworthy. He isn’t against stealing from others and given the opportunity he will happily help himself although he has a strict policy of not stealing from friends and clients. He likes a good gossip and a good baiting and can’t help himself when it comes to flirting with women.
Likes: Animal baiting, dogs, his dog, ratting, pretty women, good beer, his local pub, God, money, tabcoo, cigerattes
Dislikes: The church, the nobles, the rain and cold, The Ghost
Story: Jimmy is not only a rat catcher, he also arranges rat baiting and breeds the rats for these events. He also breeds unusual coloured rats for noble ladies to keep as pets. He also captures wild animals to bait for other people and will arrange dogfights.
Jimmy is usually found in his local pubs in the evening (as he travels around the city, pretty much every pub is his local, although he only has a few favourites), with a group of mates and acquaintances. During the day, he is often found patrolling the alleyways with his tan and white terrier dog, and responding to calls about rat infestations. Usually his dog or himself will kill the rats, but if he finds an unusually large rat, he’ll try to capture it alive for baiting. His dog, named aptly Dog, is one of the best ratters in the city and many are hard pressed to beat his time and score.
If he’s not in the city then he’s in the forest checking his traps, although he minds that he doesn’t go alone as he is after wolves, bears, cougars, wild boar and other dangerous beasts which needs several people to catch. He has an old building, large like a barn built out there, which a few hands he hires when an event is coming up maintain. There is a pit in the middle and a metal hook at each end to tie the beasts up while being baited. Dog baiting is usually held here too as there’s more room, but rat baiting is always held in the city. Cages are kept in a separate locked room, these hold the beasts waiting to be ripped apart by dogs and Jimmy feeds and waters them until 24 hours before a fight to make them ‘blood thirsty’. He charges for dogs to be entered but has an acquaintance or two to deal with the gambling side of it and has a cut from it. He will also capture a certain animal for payment to use for bait if requested.
