In the Kirby games, Kirby only really says, "Hi," and never makes any other indication that he can really talk. In the anime, he is too young to speak, so he mainly says "Poyo." At first, I payed this no mind, untill I saw the Korean animation, Pucca. Then I noticed that the cuteness of the two main characters was almost enough to rival Kirby's. The only thing they have in comon with him though, is that they cannot speak, either. Now I wonder, "Would Kirby be any less cute if he could speak? confused " I think Kirby would be Kinda annoying if he could, but that's just me.

Now I wonder, "Would Kirby be any less cute if he could speak? confused " I think Kirby would be Kinda annoying if he could, but that's just me. Incorrect in many departments. Because Kirby is originally from a system that did not have capabilities for voice functions, he was just considered young. BUT, he could in fact speak. The manual of Dreamland 1 (the first game even) has a monolouge of Kirby speaking tot he Dreamlanders about getting their food and Sparkling Stars back. In fact... Kirby's Dreamland 1 Instructional Booklet Kirby to the Rescue! On a tiny star somewhere far, far away from earth, there is a very special place known as Dreamland. The Dreamlanders are very happy people who use their magical Sparkling Stars to play and work among the heavens. That is until one dark night when the gluttonous King Dedede and his rotten band of thieves swooped down from neighboring Mt. Dedede for a midnight snack in Dreamland. Not only did they steal all their food, but they stole the Dreamlander's treasured Sparkling Stars as well. Because the Dreamlanders didn't have the Sparkling Stars to gather food anymore, they began to get very hungry. Suddenly a spry little boy named Kirby happened along and said, "Don't worry, I'll get your food and your Sparkling Stars back!" With these words, Kirby set off on his quest toward the dreaded Mt. Dedede. We wish him luck! So yeah, he's always had the ability to talk. I mean, Link never talks, right? You have to choose the options for him and stuff such as that. Kirby obviously is older than he is in the anime in the games and capability of speech is an ability that everyone has and is second only to knowing how to walk. In Smash Bros. for instance, when Kirby copies certain abilities he mimics the battle cry as well. If he couldn't speak to begin with, he wouldn't even be able to mutter those words. As far as the anime... that's also incorrect. At the very beginning he can say two things: "Poyo" and "Kirby". As the anime progresses, however, he begins to yell out all of his attacks (Smash punch!) and often (in the later half) will say the ability he has rather than Meta-Knight showing up to fill us in on what it is. This is highly unknown though, due to the dubbing of 4kids who REMOVED any trace of Kirby being able to talk other than the 2 things he knows at the beginning. Kirby is capable of speech, we just never really see it. (Also, he speaks in the manga)

I guess your right right about that... sweatdrop I know he can speak a little in the anime, but he never spoke in complete sentences. As for the games, I've seen no indication that he could, so I wouldn't really know. (I've never seen the instructional booklet to Kirby's Dreamland before. confused )
I've also dissregaurded the manga, considering the Waddle Dees could speak, and Meta Knight isn't as serious (Acctualy, I like it better that way. xp ) I didn't consider the manga to be official.
As for the battle cries, I thought that it was a part of the copy abilaty.
Well, it's not like I know everything, I'm just guessing from what I do know. I'll learn though.

No text was listed but in the little cutscenes you could see his mouth moving as if he were to speak, as were theirs.

Sakurai probably wanted the emphasis that Kirby was a hero-in-training in the anime, hence no true dialouge.
But yeah, XD. He talks.

Naoko-chama I think it would be better if he didn't. razz I just don't like moter mouths. I like people who shut up for a change. xd He doesn't talk on end like RPG characters though, so he's fine. There's more characters that deserve a "shut up" award. Kirby is fine talking, <(~^_^~)>

It seems like 9 out of 10 Nintendo characters don't talk much anyway.

They had kirby call out attacks in SSB for copy abilites. Probably to avoid the same problem one could have if Ganondorf kirby does the Warlock punch in Melee. Sure it has no range but if you don't pay close enough attention, kirby can pull it out of nowhere since he doesn't yell at the top of his lungs like Ganny.

he can say fumu, bun, lololo and lalala, and Lola, and all the english versions of their names in the anime. he also said "Poyokay?" in one of the episodes when he was taking care of Escargoon with amnesia.

I like to think of him as having almost no talking ability whatsoever. xp We all know he can write from Squeak Squad, but talking is a little bit of a bad thing in my case. crying Kirby still is the best, though! blaugh help me get these items! Donations will be loved! Plz help me!

Donations will be loved! Plz help me! Please quit putting that donation thing at the end of every post, or otherwise you might be suspended temporarily from the guild. Why? Because it's annoying and if you want them so badly, put them in your sig instead. As for the topic... How is that bad? I would have liked the Kirby anime better if Fumu didn't exist, freeing up what could be done, such as Kirby having the ability to speak. He does in fact posses it, so it should be shown more often. I don't get how it's "bad".
