Ninja/Samurai Village Dice RPG


You have 15 points to divide among the four traits below:

Strength:

Intelligence:
Dexterity:

Strength is used in combat to add to your dice roll (one 20-sided-dice)
If your strength added to your dice roll is greater than the opponent's defense added to 10, you land a successful attack. This means that you can then roll the damage dice that your weapon permits. Armor and sheilds can add to your defense, but you need to get a certain dexterity level to get those and weapons. Intelligence is added to attacks when casting spells. Initiative is also determined by dexterity, and you get two movements in combat to either attack, use an item, equip an item, use a spell, or move. You can get spells from the villagers who sell scrolls, mostly merchants or teachers. I will control all NPC's, seeing as how I will be the DM.

Ninjas start with a 1d6 katana, rope, 1d4 shurikens x5
Samurais start with Light Yukata +1, 1d8 Katana

Ninjas can choose one of the following feats:

Great Stealth-- Doubles your dexterity ability for stealth skills
Backstab-- +2 Damage on flatfoot attacks
Shuriken Mastery-- +2 damage when using shurikens

Samurais can choose one of the following feats:

Weapon Finesse--Uses dexterity to modify instead of strength for attacks for one fight per day
Dual Wield--You can use two weapons in order to attack twice in a combat turn
Katana Mastery-- +2 damage when using katanas

You get different feats and can add points to your abilities or gain hp after you get to level 3. Then, they come at certain intervals the DM chooses--mostly every 5 levels.

The village is surrounded by many mountains and a thick forest. Both of which contain many demons/monsters to be fought by the adventurers--who can fight each other if they wish. The adventurers start in the village square, surrounded by many sakura (cherry blossom) trees and there is a grand emperor's palace directly in front of them, with various dojos, taverns, and merchants all around. The village is surrounded by many mountains and a thick forest. Both of which contain many demons/monsters to be fought by the adventurers--who can fight each other if they wish. The adventurers start in the village square, surrounded by many sakura (cherry blossom) trees and there is a grand emperor's palace directly in front of them, with various dojos, taverns, and merchants all around. Quests can be found almost in any place.

But I'll flesh it out a bit more smile )

Kio finds himself in the center of a village, bustling with several ninja and samurai. Merchents yell from the street corners, and several guards stand ready. In this village, there are unwritten rules. Samurai are those known to do the bidding of the emperor, whereas ninja act essentially as mercenaries.

A man in the center of the square, next to the fountain, looks distressed.

The man, wearing a yellow yakuta, and donning a moustache looked up from the ground, "Well...you see..three monsters with long noses have kidnapped my child and taken him into the forest...if you could retrieve him, I would be extremely grateful!"

"As much gold as I can gather from my home, in addition to an old family scroll I have in my home. It casts some sort of spell."

Passing from the sakura trees into the more green vegetation, you begin to notice how deep you are heading into the forest. Suddenly, above you, in the sky, you see a tengu, diving into a patch of forest in front of you.

As you enter he clearing, you see three Tengu. One holding onto a small child, who is crying, and two hovering above them.
