Here's my entry, for those of you who have read Twilight. Ann=Bella but more intelligent William=Edward.
Sparkly Vampires? I don't buy it.
Ann walked into the clearing and looked around her. The space was full of dead grass, tree branches, and other junk, but there was no sign of William.
"Ann, I bet you've wondered why I never go out in the sun." William stepped out from behind a tree on the other side of the clearing, but was careful to stay in the shade.
"What are you talking about?" asked Ann. "I've seen you go out into the sun a bunch of times."
"Well, I'm about to show you."
"In fact, just the other day we were all out playing soccer during gym. The sun was blazing that day."
William stepped into the clearing. The sun danced across his skin, almost blinding Ann. "You see," he said. "I'm a vampire, and contrary to popular belief, we don't die in the sun, we sparkle. But if anyone was ever to see our brilliant skin, our secret would be exposed. The fact that I've shown you proves how much I trust you."
"Wow," breathed Ann, clasping her hands to her heart in mock admiration. She slowly crept up to William and went to touch his glistening hand, then paused. "May I?" she asked.
William nodded.
Ann gently took his hand in hers. With her other hand she began to trace the contours of his muscular arm, an expression of awe on her face. Then she tightrened her grip on his arm and inspected the fingers that had touched his skin. The shone. "I knew it, it's glitter!"
William pulled his hand away. "No it's not!" he shouted, "I sparkle because... there's granite in my skin! Yeah, let's go with that."
"Right, then what's that?" Ann pointed to the other side of the clearing where a half-empty (or half-full, depending on your viewpoint) jumbo tub of glitter.
"Um..." William thought for a moment. "That's for my sister! She loves playing with glitter."
"You don't have a sister."
"I... Uh... adopted one! You know all those adopt-a-sibling things? I joined one of those."
"Is this for your sister too?" Ann walked over to where the tub of glitter was and pointed to a bucket of water.
"Oh, that's just so I can wash off," William said.
"And why would you need to do that?"
"Because it's so muddy here!"
Looking at the hard, barran, dry ground, Ann picked up the bucket and threw the water on William.
"Hey!" shouted Wiliam. Then he noticed the sparkles cascading off his annoyingly perfect skin. "Will you look at that! I'm cured, and now I can go out in the sun whenever I want! Thank you so much Ann!"
Ann ignored him, turned around, and walked out of the clearing.
