There's been a heap of talk going around at school about drugs and the like. I also got a game today called "Azumanga Druglord game" (I download strange games from the net for entertainment) and I got curious as to people's opinions on narcotics.
I myself am fascinated by what people see in drugs, but I would never willingly try any.
Trips... THE SPIDERS ARE EVERYWHERE!
What makes people think that spiders are covering them? Is it some chemical imbalance in the brain caused by a reaction with LSD?

The guy who used to live across the road from us grew his own marijuana because he was in so much pain. But unfortunately, it's illegal in this state and his wife's cousin dobbed him in to the police. They raided and only got three plants.
However, the "kids" next door would have these wild parties with blue/purple lights on in the house and you could not only see the smoke pouring out of the doors and windows you could smell a sickly sweet odour.....
For pain relief, I think it's a very good idea. However, recreation not sure if that's a good idea but it's their choice.

Is it some chemical imbalance in the brain caused by a reaction with LSD? From what I've learnt in psychology, it is a chemical reaction/imbalance in your brain. This reaction causes false stimulation of the primary visual cortexes in the occipital lobes of your brain, if I can remember correctly. (basically the place responsible for sight) Drugs also put you in, what psychologists call an altered state of consciousness. Depending on the drug, the behavioural changes (the ones different to your normal behaviour) differ. Changes can be to do with orientation in time, ie, forgetting what day it is/how much time has passed, You can become more/less emotional aware... etc. With all of these changes, they can be greater or lesser as stated above. Hope that helps and makes sense. smile

Yeah, that makes a heap of sense. ^^. I'm pretty sure our old neighbours here were on the weed before the Catholics moved in. What was worse? Stoners kicking their kids and dogs, or the Catholics arguing at six thirty each morning?
In my opinion, the Catholics I can deal with, because at least their kids don't get beaten (while I watch anyway). Do they even have kids at that age?

May I ask how you would view some one who gave into peer group pressure and tried drugs? Would you see them as weak, foolish, etc?

Everyone bends to peergroup pressure at some time or another. It's completely normal, and someone who took drugs because their friends were doing it,is no different. We've all done regrettable things.

Do you think that drugs are more easily accessible these days or that because of the media we are more informed?

Amethyst_Crystal Do you think that drugs are more easily accessible these days or that because of the media we are more informed? I'm not sure. When I was in "high" school (and even junior high -- grade 9) almost thirty years ago, I knew students who were using cocaine and marijuana. I'm sure there were a few who might've at least tried heroin. And you had airplane-glue-sniffers. But I don't think we had things like Meth and Ecstasy. But I was isolated a bit from the druggies, so maybe it was much worse than I knew.

I wasn't one of the "in" crowd, so I didn't really know of drugs 'til an ex boy friend brought up the subject (I was 19).
