Recently, I was involved in a discussion talking about why African-Americans call each other "niggas" and the reasoning behind younger female dressing provocative.

Well, someone stated that Blacks should just be thankful that they have the rights they have today. I seen it as an honest statement, so I responded stating that it was not accurate. Due to political pressures, and possible Civil War, equal rights had to be given.

Then, the true problem came into play, he stated that America is superior to all other nations, and that "White" power is superior.

I realize that this may be troll but it still brings the questions:

Why are there still prejudical statements like these?
What form of patriotism and nationalism could bring such a mind set?
How long will it take for people to see through such barriers?
How many people agree to this?

I feel that I'm far too bais to give an answer to these questions myself, so I'm asking my fellow members to do it for me.

Also, feel free to discuss anything relating to this or the background story itself.

Throughout history Whites have enjoyed power and with that power came, a cruel benevolence they can bestow on others. You see, those in power can control the fates of others and also, history is written in the POV of the victors so the other side of the story is not being told.

Yes the Am-Black community has issues (deeply rooted in our beginning here in America and I could list all the problems stemming from that), but it's not helpful to have people from the outside that just want to antagonize in stead of help find solutions.

First off I would like to say that the individuals statements are inherently flawed. They make a sweeping generalizations by saying that African-Americans, or blacks if you will (because its nice and short to say) call each other ***** and/or dress in a provocative manner. But on to your questions. (and to correcting some spelling mistakes which I will bold razz )

Why are there still prejudiced statements like these?
- Many people have a bad case of the "little man" syndrome. They feel insecure to be quite frank. Such people are usually fairly uneducated on these issues, but because they must feel a sense of superiority over others, they base their case for being "better" than others on such non-issues such as skin colour, hair colour, size, race, etc. Upbringing also plays a significant role. If one grows up in a family that has believed for generations that whites or any other race is superior, chances are their children will pick up at least some of their bias. Basic psychology.

What form of patriotism and nationalism could bring such a mind set?
- Look at what occurred within the US during World War II. When people think of racism during this era, they automatically think of Nazi Germany and the holocaust. But what of the blatant racism that ran rampant throughout the states? Nationalism and patriotism in general are dangerous mindsets, and it is difficult to truly hold onto such ideals and maintain an unbiased and fair perspective.

How long will it take for people to see through such barriers?
- How long will it take to overcome hundreds, no, thousands of years of racial bigotry passed down generation after generation? Nobody knows, your guess is as good as mine, but if you act against it you can speed up the process.

How many people agree to this?
- One person is too many, but unfortunately this form of thought is quite a bit more prevalent than most people will think.

Why are there still prejudicial statements like these?
For the simple fact that some people act that way there is nothing you can stop it and no amount of healing will cure it it just happens there has always been that and shall always be so long as humans exist period.

What form of patriotism and nationalism could bring such a mind set?
The mind set of one who feels pushed around or threated it happens when someone gets pushed in the corner and they hate their presumed assailant.

How long will it take for people to see through such barriers?
It will never happen like i said before as long as humans exist there shall be racial issues.

How many people agree to this?
It doesn't matter how many it takes one to rally the masses to an idea.
