Ironwood is by far the biggest and oldest forest in the kingdom. Its a great source of wood and wild game, but its thickness prevents a proper exploration and isolates the few settlements that managed to survive in the loneliness of that sea of green
Though its borders are thin, especially the southeast one, its size and location leaves the whole northwestern side of the kingdom pretty much inhabited. Only the main rivers allow the existance of roads, preventing them from being swallowed by the trees. People avoid travelling to that edge of the kingdom because all the market is situated further southeast
There are rumours of ruined cities and ancient treasure hidden by the forest, but the wild animals, coutless hidden rivers and swampy areas and the great probability of getting lost have kept them from being found
Around Loghedge the forest is quite thick, specially when you travel further north and further away from the lake. Around the city itself there's a large perimeter without trees, but that's because of the continuous maintenance to prevent letting the trees grow too close and consume the farms and other lands used for harvest
Compared to our world this forest grows much faster and denser than our own. It's no wonder roads left unused for a year no longer be there the next. But for the people here this is natural
There are many ruins that were swallowed by this fast growth, but one of them is strangely untouched. Located 30km (18.6 miles) east, not too far from Snakebottom river, is the remainings of what must have been a small chapel
As for other ruins further northwest, there is no confirmation but it's said to be the location of a haunted castle guarded by monsters. The place is completely surrounded by thick vegetation, enough to make anyone lose their way back
