Chernobyl NPP, 1986. April 26.
After a failed test in Reactor 4, a steam explosion followed by nuclear meltdown, left 30km uninhabitable, including Pripyat City, a major population center near the power station.
20 years later... April 26, 2006, 5:30pm.
"The world came to a halt today, as a large explosion was witnessed up to fifty miles from the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Witnesses report seeing the clouds in the sky seem to disintegrate, while Ukraine soldiers on patrol around the exclusion zone's perimeter were said to have collapsed, screaming in pain and covering their ears. It is believed that anyone within the zone will have died instantly, and as such, rescue operations would be pointless. The Ukraine government has moved for a temporary expansion of the exclusion zone to fifty kilometers, and have established a no-fly zone of one hundred kilometers. More information as it is available." -BBC World News, reporting on the Second Chernobyl Disaster.
April 30th, 2006.
"...Sattelite mapping indicates that the explosion was not actually centered over the remains of Reactor four, though they were destroyed during the process. Most of the Chernobyl NPP seems to still be totally intact, though there is an extreme amount of ratiation extending 20km from Chernobyl, and electrostatic activity up to 40km. Ukranian military are enforcing both the new exclusion zone range, and the no-fly zone restriction until further notice..." -Extract from Korrespondent, a Ukrainian national newspaper.
August 22nd 2007
"....These disruptions seem to be anomalies within the actual fabric of reality itself. All extremely dangerous, and mostly having a lifespan of approximately a week. However, these anomalies leave behind strange materials that we are classifying as "artifacts", until their origin can be defined..." -Extract from the CNPP Exclusion Zone study update
March 15thm 2012
"...The local mercenaries, or "Stalkers" are not to be tolerated. They are trespassing within the Zone. Any caught by Ukraine military are to be shot on sight. They are extremely dangerous, and many have past criminal history..." -Extract from the CNPP Exclusion Zone defense report

Groups within the Zone
Duty A Stalker faction with close ties to the Ukraine Armed Forces (UAF) and Kiev Research Institute (KRI). They refuse to trade artifacts with anyone other than those their leaders deem suitable.
They fight to keep citizens safe from the Zone, and wish to remove it from the face of the planet eventually.
Freedom A militant force that fights for free access to the Zone. Disliked by both the UAF, they act in a secretive manner, and only make themselves seen if needed.
Kiev Research Institute Scientists from Kiev, based in the Zone. They wish to research the effects of the Zone on wildlife, the anomalies, and most importantly the Artifacts. They are respected by both the UAF and Duty.
Ukraine Armed Forces The guards of the Zone. They attempt to stem the tide of Stalkers that attempt to sneak past the cordon and into the Zone. More than willing to use deadly force.
Hostile towards Freedom, allied with the KRI, and Duty (in a mutual benefit sense. As they are seen as Stalkers, the KRI isn't too fond of them)
Loners "Joining a faction can often be time-consuming, and damage one's profit. Many Stalkers prefer to take a risk and go it alone, forming small parties within camps to explore the zone, and then sharing profit made from selling goods and artifacts equally, or at least a few of them do. Loners are a mixed bunch to say the least. Some will welcome you into their encampment, others will shoo you away, and a few will just put a bullet in the back of your skull if they think they can get away with it."

Rules:
1) Follow the guild rules set up by the captain. 2) As said by the guild captain, cursing is acceptable, however, do not abuse the privilege. Cursing simply for the sake of cursing is only for those of weak confidence and an even weaker mind. 3) God-modding is completely unacceptable. If anyone is found god-modding not only will they find themselves thrown out of the thread but I will suggest to the captain that they be banned from the guild as well. 4) Follow the Gaia Tos. 5) PM all profiles to me under the heading "STALKERS". 6) Place a pirate emoticon somewhere in your PM so I know you have read these rules. 7) Remember, this is a Literate rp. The only place that any form of chatspeak is acceptable is in OOC.
