Translation that viz offers. Or is it just me? Seriously. I was about to buy but instead I borrowed it from R+R and well, frankly it's very poor quality. I mean in one book they called Kawamura, momo. (They mess up on a lot of names but this is one of the main ones that stick in my mind.)
Although this translation is very funny, I still end up disliking it and both for the same reason.
What's your opinion about it?

Oshitari Yuushi become Yuushi Oshitori. Ikkyuunyuukon turns into Each Ball I Serve With Heart and Soul -Supposed to be one shot to the soul-. Ore-sama no bigi ni yoi na becomes Stand in awe of my brilliant techniques.
I have no other words. And please, don't get me started on the English Dub of the anime. I will start, and I wont stop.
But I have to say a few things. Fuji sounds like a stoner. Atobe sounds like a prepubescent street punk, Horio sounds HOT, the pronunciations are wrong, and Drive B turned into Drive V.
That's all I have to say. Unless you wish to discuss more. =DD

I found the dub over of the English one so entertaing. Just because of their voices, and I really don't understand how Drive B can turn to Drive V. I could be totally blind and still understand that it looks like a B more than a V. I guess the only thing I don't understand is why in the anime, they call him Kabachi instead of Kabaji. :<
They keep changing the names of everything in the manga and they took out Taka's burning in a lot of areas. Instead he just sounds like a gorilla. "URRAAAWWWW!"

Well, I live in Germany and didn't really get a look at the English dub yet, so I can't really say much about that. There isn't a German dub yet, and I don't even know if there ever WILL be one. If they do make one, it's probably going to be every bit as horrid as you say the English one is. xP
The German version of the manga isn't that bad, though. I only have the first two volumes, but what I've read so far is pretty decent.
...did they really cut out Taka's burning? o.o How could they?!

Well back when I had cable, the english dub wasn't avaible here either. But I did check it out on youtube, and I do not like it. But in a way I do find it slightly entertaining.
And yes, for the most part. They just added random grunting, but in some areas he says: "Scorching!" I think he has only said Burning once, or twice.
In the back of some of the manga they mess it up a bit. I think they called Akutsu, Jirou once too.

I guess horrible dubs can be entertaining... in a strange sort of way. XP
Sacrilegious. If they ever make a German dub and there's no Burning I'll... cry. T-T At least there's not much they can cut/alter storyline-wise. There's basically no innuendo, no dirty jokes, only slight violence, nobody gets killed, etc.
I've seen serieses intended for viewers age 14 and above get cut and mutilated so badly that they could air them for six-year-olds. x_ _x
Huh. Confusing Akutsu with Jirou. It makes me sad, but somehow, it also makes me laugh. Hard. XP

I was horrified when I read the English translation of the manga. Yet, I ended buying them all anyways. BURNING! made a return in the newest volume though. A small joy. I'm reluctant to buy Viz Media's boxset's for the anime though. I was just about to, but it's overpriced here. Maybe Viz will lose the license and it can get picked up by someone better? That would be awesome.

THEN OCEAN STUDIOS CAN PICK IT UP! 8DDD Ocean Studios, here in Vancouver is great! Although, they tend to overuse their voice actors. As in, have more than 1 character per voice actor.
Like...Inuyasha. His voice actor, I can't remember his name for the life of me, in in Gundam Seed...three times! One as an extra, two as Tolle, and three as one of those Humans turned Coordinators. But still, the dubbing is alot better compared to Prince of Tennis. >.<

I, like most of the people here also... greatly dislike the English translation of the manga... but have managed to buy every one of them anyway. =_=''
When the anime first aired in America on toonami... needless to say, I was mortified. The voices in the dub are so horrible I cringed, yes, physically cringed. I then proceeded to complain about it for a week until episode two was aired... after that I just gave up and re-watched things on crunchyroll.com.

xDD;;
Yeah. It's sorta weird in the manga, especially since everyone calls Tezuka, Kunimitsu, and just. Ewwwww. They called Eiji 'Kikimaru' once. I don't think they have an editor, and they get all the scores mixed up. Honestly, once it was 5-2 and the next few pages it was only 3-4. I MEAN. T________T
Uh...anime. Dub. EW. At least they aren't Seishun-carriers, but. Tsubame Gaeshi became Triple Counter? Haddokyuu became wave smash? Dunk smash became overhead..something...shot? Drive B became Drive V? Twist and Kick got switched around? Tezuka has a grainy voice? Kabaji sounds like a deep-voiced girl? Fuji doesn't know his own name? TEZUKA doesn't know his own name? Mizuki has a plain, normal voice? Frick, even Horio and Ryoma's names get mispronounced and mangled--sometimes even Tomo-chan or Sakuno! I just wanna throw uppp.
Iunno. The dubbers clearly do not understand how to spell Kaidoh, either. They put 'Kaidoh' in their opening sequence, but he's 'Kaido' in all the summaries. crying
And actually, they use the same voice actors for...Kachiro and Sakuno, I think. T crying T But under a different name. Or something.
Okay, and Shinji? EW. Kamio was...TT.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO DUB, GET IT RIGHT FOR ONCE.
Thank you so much and sorry for ranting.

The dubbs kills my ears! I downloaded episodes 29 to 33 and hate very bit of it! I got so mad on what they did to Fuji's voice! And also Eiji's! Fuji is suppose to sound gentle, but instead he sounds like a stoner! cry The way they say each and everyone of their names....-shiver- SO WRONG! Not any one of their names is said right.
Also...do you know how wrong they said Kamio's name?! It sounds like they sound "Camel" (spelling?) Got me SOO mad!
I agree with Otori-kun, Hey should of gave it to Ocean Studios tp dubb. Even though they messed up with Steller's name but still. At least they keep all of the opening and ending songs. I wanted to heard Kime sing. cry
