nestled on the outskirts of the Aikou region desert, the town is small and not very busy. if it wasn't for the gym and the natural history museum, the place would be a ghost town. the major product of the town is salt, precious jewels, and antidotes (the desert has alot of poisonous pok'e mon). sandstorms are known to start now and then and the museum has go-goggles in the gift shop. the gym leader is said to be the toughest gym leader in the Aikou region.

Out side quartzite town lies the corundum desert. it's filled with ground, rock and poison type pok'e mon, as well as many wild cacnea and sometimes cacturne. trainers are free to wander the desert at will; they are cautiond to bring go-goggles though. other than the wild pok'e mon, trainers can sometimes find rare items hidden in the sand with an item finder. the mine in the south west part of desert is off-limits to trainers though.

Azalreia, having recently obtained the Zero badge, felt good about herself. She decided to try another gym, and since she wasn't quite an expert yet, she decided to go to another one she had an advantage over. Also, if there were any new Pokemon to be caught here, she would catch them. "Hmmm... what's this place?" she thought aloud as she approached the borders of this new city. "Quartzite? The name suggests rock. I'll check it out." She got off her bike and headed into town.

a man was sitting was atop a rock outside the museum. "man, there wasn't been action here in a while, the sandstorms are even refusing to start up" he muttered yawning. he noticed the girl and smiled. perhaps someone new to the town.
suddenly, jiri, the local jirachi, wished by the gym leader to never go into it's slumber again, appeared next to the girl and poked her shoulder. "hello, i'm jiri!" jiri said thought spoke smiling.

" hello, i'm jiri!" jiri said thought spoke smiling. "Whoa! A Jirachi!" said Azalreia, taken aback. She was speechless for a moment, but then regained her tongue. "Wh... why are you here?" was all she could think of to say. "I mean, um, what's going on here? Why is there only one person in this whole town?"

"welcome to quartzite town, the quietest town in all of Aikou" the man said getting off the rock. "most people stay indoors except when traveling from building to building, since there isn't any bazaars outside" he added walking over.

"Well, I'm here, you're there, and I think the gym is over there-- it's hard to see through this dirt cloud-- but is there anything else?" Azalreia said tensely. "I'm not much of one for peace and quiet. Is the gym leader accepting challenges?"

"dave diamond, quartzite town gym leader, at your service" dave said bowing dramitcally. he put on some go-goggles as a thirty second sandstorm blew by. after it subsided he took off his go-goggles and walked to the gym.

"you can read the rules posted in the gym, as for my pok'e mon and their levels, their posted in the gym as well." with that, he entered the doors of his gym. (in the battles section)
