About Cloudy
Name:Cloudy (Last name unknown)
Age:13
Story:
"Cloudy, wake up. It's already 9 o'clock."
The disgruntled young teen flopped over on her other side.
"Five more minutes, mom..."
"No! We have been summoned by the queen and we are to go to the castle immediately."
"Ugh. Just great," she murmured, sitting up in bed.
"Hurry up and get dressed. We mustn't be late," her mom said while leaving the room.
"Right..." Cloudy groaned. She had suspected this. Her mom was a healer, and the queen was bound to ask her to help with the war.
Finally, by 10 o'clock they had made it to the castle and were waiting to speak with the queen. Cloudy's mom was acting cheery, as if things weren't going to go wrong.
"Don't worry," she kept saying. "I'm sure everything will turn out fine."
After about 10 minutes of listening to her mother's annoyingly happy comments, both of them were told to enter.
The queen's throne room was suprisingly simple. The room was not grand and large as one might imagine a throne room, but more like a very wide and somewhat long hallway. The queen sat upon a silver throne at the end of the room. The walls painted a soft gray, and the curtains were a deep purple. The windows were the most intricate thing in the room; they looked much like stained glass, excpet they had no color to them. If you think about it, that means they were just glass, but they looked to be so much more than that. Beautiful creatures were portrayed upon them: dragons, horses, birds, fairies...all sorts of things. But the thing that drew the most attention in the room, was of course, the queen herself. Her bright golden crown contrasted greatly with the soft colors of the room. Deep green emeralds were embedded into it. Her long, curly brown hair rolled down her back like waves upon the sand. Her sharp blue eyes seemed as if they could pierce right through a person.
"I am sure you ladies already know what I've brought you here for," she said. Even her voice sounded royal.
"I think I do, your highness. Am I to heal wounded soldiers during the war?" Cloudy's mom asked.
The queen smiled. "Ahh, yes, you must have read my mind. I am in great need of healers, and I ask that you be one of them."
"Of course, your majesty. It would be a great honor to help the war effort," she stated.
"Ahh, yes. That is good," the queen voiced. "In one day's time I will send two knights to escort the two of you to the castle. Be sure to pack the essentials, and only the essentials; there is no room for frivolities in war."
"The two of us, your highness?" Cloudy's mom asked in a worried tone.
"Yes, of course. Your daughter must go with you to help. She'd be nothing but a nussiance if left behind."
"She is only thirteen though! I do not want this war to scar her young mind."
At this point, Cloudy rolled her eyes. She did not want to go with her mother, but she believed she could handle being a healer's assistant.
"Anyone who can help with the war will. Now go home an get ready for tommorow."
As they made their way home, Cloudy protested.
"We should run! We shouldn't let her push us around!" she declared.
"It's no use. We would be caught and killed within five minutes. Besides, she's the queen. She supposed to give us orders. If there weren't any law in this world, everything would be a mess."
"There's gotta be something we can do! She's a terrible ruler compared to King Terry."
"King Terrian is longer alive, there is no use comparing his rule to another's," her mom remarked.
"I wish he were still here..." Cloudy sighed.
"Yes, and if wishes were fishes we'd have a whole lake full of them. Come now, let's go home and pack."
King Terry was the former king, and the current queen's brother. He was a benevolent leader who helped the people of his country, treating all of them like family. The country to the north decided to start a war, and in their first attack, they killed the king. The only heir to the throne was his sister, Eliza.
After returning home, Cloudy ran to the big rock in the fields. It was a great place to think. She always thought that field would look beautiful in a painting. The wind seemed to be blowing all the time, so the long grass would always sway in the breeze. The large gray rock seemed so solemn, just sitting there among such a wonderful scene. The mountains to the east jutted out of the earth and looked like daggers stabbing into the sky.
The beat of wings disruppted her thoughts. He was coming. Cloudy looked towards the sky, but she couldn't catch a glimpse of him. He always seemed to just come out of no where, landing behind her with those magnificent wings. Suddenly a gust of wind pushed her forward and almost knocked her to the ground, but something caught her by the back of her dress.
"Well, hello Miss. Lovely day, isn't it?" said a voice from behind her as she was pulled back upon her feet. That voice was all too familiar.
"Good day to you, Topaz," Cloudy said as she turned around to face him. He was a large griffon whom she had known for as long as she could remember. They were really good friends. Each of his snow white feathers was tipped in silver(not real silver, of course). He looked grand. "How have you been?"
"I have been fine, my lady. How have you been fairing?"
Cloudy sighed. "My mother and I are to leave tommorow. My mom is to help with the war using her healing skills, and I am to be her assistant."
"Why, that's terrible! This new ruler is a terrible dictator, forcing people to work for her like that."
"Well, she is the queen, you know..."
"But don't you want to escape?"
"How could I? There is no possible way to get out of this."
"Actually, I know of one way...you would have to leave your home forever though..."
"Wouldn't that mean I have to leave you? I could never do that!"
"Why, of course not! I would be going with you!"
"Going where?"
"I know of a world where the queen would never be able to find you. It is called Nexis..."
And that is how Cloudy came to Nexis.
