What is this?
Can you say blatant conservative American propaganda?

The Victims of Communism Memorial was dedicated on Tuesday morning, June 12, 2007, in Washington, D.C. Rep. Tom Lantos, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, gave the keynote address while Rep. Dana Rohrabacher delivered remarks. President George W. Bush has also spoke. A crowd of 1,000 including Congressional leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, ethnic leaders, foreign dignitaries, and Memorial supporters, attended the historic event.

The dedication took place at the Memorial site at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave., N.W., New Jersey Ave., N.W., and G St., N.W., two blocks from Union Station and within view of the U.S. Capitol, followed by a reception.

The day's activities concluded with a gala dinner at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, at which a Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom was presented to William F. Buckley, Jr., and the late Senator Henry M. (Scoop) Jackson. Senator Joe Lieberman presented the Medal of Freedom to Senator Jackson's daughter, Anna Marie Laurence.

June 12 was an historic day for the victims of communism and for those who love liberty.

....

HR 3000, sponsored by Representative Dana Rohrabacher, Senator Claiborne Pell, and Senator Jesse Helms, became Section 905 of Public Law 103-199, which passed unanimously December 17, 1993, signed by President Clinton, Speaker Foley, and President pro tem of the Senate, Robert Byrd. It subsequently has been renewed through Section 326 of PL 105-277, approved October 21, 1998, until December 17, 2007.

That's stupid! Why don't they have a 'Victims of Capitalism' memorial or what not?!
PostPosted: Tue Jun 19, 2007 10:13 am

I don't support Communism myself but it is propoganda I think. I don't see them doing this for fascism. *shrug* And we're now a fascists state.

Very true. If they're going to do it for one thing they should for all victims over the world whether from Communism, fascism, corrupt capitalism. I suggest people find out about vouchers and read about that from BBC reporter Greg Palast. It'll make you sick.

O.o

Tank! You changed your av! Wooooooaaaaaah.

On a more relevant note... I think that it should be renamed to something more applicable. The various totalitarian regimes of Eastern Europe did cause much damage. Perhaps a "Victims of Stalinism" memorial?

Funny this is happening at the precise moment when America's people are starting to realize the victims of their own nation.

Eh, the US needs someone to continue to demonize, Nazis and Fascists have been the posterchilds for a while now, and Muslims are seen as politically incorrect.

And as for there not being a memorial to those suffering under Fascism, I guess all I can think of is the Halocaust Memorial.

HAAHAHA were no were near that yet. If you want we can just lose the two branches and give more exuactive power then we will see. Bush and his hommies only want a job, like Homeland Security. Just drinking money. Build it if they want, though build it on somebody else's wallet.

Hitler is a poster child, got to love Hitler and Bush comparison. I find calling people Nazi's or Hitler quite old.

I'm sorry, but I have to put 2 more cents in.
Isn't this more of a 'Victims of the Recent Russian Communism' memorial more so that Communism as a whole? Like, Stalinism, not Communism? Gar, this makes me mad. (This'll probably piss a lot of people off, but I'm gonna say it anyways) Why don't they make a 'Victims of Christianity' memorial along with it??? Grr...
