To be honest, I really haven't heard that much about these "Indigo Children."
But yeah, it sounds like a real load. If your particular belief system involves assigning magical attributes to otherwise normal personality traits, then that belief may as well be listed in the BS Hall of Fame.

Indigo Prophecy (a.k.a. Fahrenheit); it's based highly on Mayan Indigo mythology. Not to mention it's a great psycho thriller.
The "good ending" of that game ******** sucked. Of course I was never able to save his brother so I don't know if there might have been a better one.
Indeed; the sudden introduction of unnecessary story elements and the ridiculous Matrix-slash-DBZ-style fight scenes during the last third or so turned it from an introspective look at emotional insanity into somewhat of a cheesy sci-fi action thriller.
But I sincerely enjoyed the first two thirds - delving into each character's mind, taking part in their daily routines, trying to keep the main character from losing his mind entirely - it's not something you normally see in video games these days.
And I believe you're right in thinking that there could have been more to the ending. Of course, the director said somewhere that he wanted to keep the game short to retain its replay value. It's still a great game, but I think I would have had much more incentive to play it again if the plot hadn't turned to liquid s**t during the last few chapters.
